Suspensions

The Suspension Tightrope – First

For the second week in succession, Jon Walters rebuilt his spot-kick reputation by firing Stoke’s equaliser in a 1-1 draw at Norwich. Just four minutes after scoring his fourth league goal of the season, however, the Republic of Ireland international blotted his copybook after seeing red for a challenge on the Canaries’ Alex Tettey in Saturday afternoon’s Carrow Road stalemate:

The dismissal – incidentally the first of his career – means Walters is set to miss the next three Gameweeks, as Mark Hughes’ side go head-to-head against West Ham, Villa and Hull. After the match, the Potters boss conceded he will reluctantly accept the ban:

“There is contact but the ball is bouncing and both players have got their feet high. I think there was an intention to win the ball by both players and unfortunately it’s been nicked away from Jon and he’s caught him on the follow-through, which he’s acknowledged. We are looking at Jon missing three games for that and I think it was one of those challenges which is just a matter of millimetres whether contact is made.”

Walters joins team-mate Charlie Adam on the sidelines, then; the Scot will miss the next two after earning a retrospective three-match ban from the FA last week.

According to reports in the local press, Tottenham are set to appeal the red card handed out to Younes Kaboul in Saturday’s defeat at Chelsea. If successful, the centre-half will be available for this weekend’s north London derby against Arsenal at White Hart Lane – the outcome is due later in the week.

Swansea’s Chico Flores is set to serve a one-match ban against West Brom this weekend, whilst Nicklas Anelka has until Thursday to appeal the five-match ban dished out for his quenelle gesture back in December. In the meantime, the forward has been suspended by the Baggies until the situation is resolved.

In this week’s Suspension Tightrope, we have a couple of new additions edging closer towards a potential ban. Arsenal’s Mathieu Flamini and Southampton’s Morgan Schneiderlin both earned their eighth cautions of the campaign – two more yellows prior to Gameweek 34 and they’ll be looking at time on the sidelines.

Better short term prospects for the same value, making iit easy to get him back after DGW.

Sissoko's got the fixtures and it depends what you do with that 1.5m. I'd have to say Nolan is the best option although it's obviously reflected in his price.

It's really hard for me not to look at price changes - if I had pulled the trigger last night I could have had Aguero, Yaya and Zaba in my team for GW31 (1 hit), but I couldn't take the risk of jumping the gun on a potential Aguero injury mid-week or if he still looks like he's struggling for form. Moving out Rooney for Aguero home against Liverpool this week might not be prudent...

Those who used their wildcards early in the season. Do you think it worked out well for you in the long run or would you rather you still had it now?

I know it would be pretty difficult to know for definite what the difference in points would be, but I reckon I did the right thing using it early. My team was in terrible shape at the time and I'm sure I've probably got around 100 points better off.

It's the eternal question. I absolutely HAD to use it early because of a plague of injuries. Then my early WC team all got injured too, so I had loads of hits in the first third of the season.
It's given me my best TV (SV) ever for the Jan WC, but of course I'd love a WC now.

Each season is different, so there is no definitive answer.

I absolutely mangled mine in gw5 -- laundered money on Ozil and Ramsey and settled on Sessegnon and Walcott, who got scratched as I captained him.

Did much better last season w an early WC -- brought in Michu, Fellaini, RVP and as you mentioned definitely earned me tons of points.

I used my wildcard early this season for the first time (GW5) and went from 650k to 1.5k in the space of 7 gameweeks, hovering in the top 10k pretty much every since.

I'd say it was worth playing it early.

This season is the first time in years that I've used it, and its also my worst season in years.

I'm not having a relatively bad season because I used it, rather I needed to use it because I was doing badly.

I made a good bit of cash from mine during the first international break and it also allowed me to get in all the players who were on form. Now have a team value of nearly 114M. So in answer to the question, I am glad I played it when I did. If I still had it left I may have gone crazy and took a good few hits to field a full XI players who have DGW. However, I am happy with 8 and that is without gimping my team and only needs a 4 point hit.

Haha, I was waiting on Aguero but now I'm tempted by Ade to Lukaku and getting Yaya and Zaba with the saved funds

I will use my WC next week. Should I take a hit for
Baines to chambers to fund Abe to aguero?

Just worrying aguero might rise in price again

Which move will get more points this week? WC in 31.

    A) Bruce to Baines (instead of playing Ward)
    B) Snodgrass to Yaya
    C) Adebayor to Aguero
    D) Adebayor to Lukaku

    Thank you.

with 2.7% ownership, those who punt on Sissoko could fly up the rankings if he delivers.

for me it's a case of risk it with him and find money from elsewhere to AJ later, or just get AJ to save the hassle later

Quietly pleased I've held Benteke until now. Captained him for his gw 28 haul too!

Would you get rid now if you still had him?...Dark horse (not racist) for highest goalscorer in the run in, if last year's anything to go by. Once he starts he doesn't stop..
