We delve into the data once again this evening and assess some of the standout statistics over the weekend gone by. Arsenal’s fit-again midfielder, Chelsea’s Brazilian schemer, Sunderland, Swansea and West Ham’s frontmen, Palace’s defence and Everton’s raiding right-back are amongst our main topics this time around:

    on bottom of last page..

Viability of Man United players with Moyes gone, strong or weak? There are definitely arguments for both sides.

Though if Rooney is even marginally fit I could see him still playing to ramp up match fitness rather than flat out resting.

Also the less intense trainings could benefit them in the DGW with better match fitness..

Really difficult to tell. My thinking is that Giggs will guide United to their more traditional style under SAF. That means we will play more through the center and I'd expect Welbeck to get some game time possibly up front with Rooney or on the left wing.

I can't see Giggs not playing Mata in his position, I also sense we'll play more of a passing game than a route-one

yeah, i posted on this last night. It's a wildcard, similar to GW1. They just don't have anything to play for.

Yeah, they are a strong and proud team, many of the players have team spirit, etc etc.

      But... What team doesn't?

Sunderland and Norwich aren't the strongest teams but they are fighting relegation, and will not be pushovers. They may not keep clean sheets, but they will score on United.

That said, I still have Sturridge, so I think using my FT on Rooney is a fairly safe play. 13 minutes to reconsider ;/

Lukaku. Southamptopn have conceded 10 goals in their last 5 home games. Palace have conceded flip all. Also, Dzeko is largely pants.

Silver to ---> Ramsey or Nasri? Nasri or Ramsey? Aaugh.

Current team is below... already used my free transfer to get Rooney, so this would be for a 4-pt hit. Thinking Ramsey, but also keeping an eye on the DGW next week.

Or should I just wait on news for Yaya?

    Mannone (Adrian)
    Baines, Coleman, Chester (Ward, Mariappa)
    Gerrard, Ericksen, Mata, Mutch (Silva)
    Auguero, Suarez, Rooney

Made my free transfer for the upcoming gameweek already; Mirallas to Ramsey

    Leaves me with:

    --------------- Speroni
    ------- Zab - Baines - Chester
    Eriksen - Ramsey - Sterling - Lallana
    ---- Aguero - Lukaku - Suarez

    Davis --- Silva - Ward - M. Olsson

    Have 0.6 itb.
Good to go or should I make another transfer?

He was receiving praise for a job well done, I don't think there's much to hide from. He trolls a lot but this is actually a dumb thing to say which is why it sounds like a fail on his part. It actually focuses pressure on his team as opposed to other teams. No matter what he does now, he loses. If he keeps his promise and rests his players, he concedes the title and gets abused. If he doesn't, he puts his CL tie in jeopardy and comes out as the boy who cried wolf.

I think he's trying to make Liverpool complacent by talking about Chelsea's focus on the CL. I don't think its a bad ploy to make the Liverpool encounter seem worthless when its probably the biggest game of the season for Liverpool.

Yeah, but given it is the biggest game of the season for Liverpool, I seriously doubt they are going to slack off in it. Saying "we are going to throw away this game" could become a self-fulfilling prophecy too.

Yeah had a guess below and it's not too different, think he might rest some of Oscar/Torres/Azpi though given you'd expect they'll play in the 2nd leg where they need to attack.

Azpi its a beast. Do not need rest. But yeah, could be…
I think from those David Luiz its the most likely to get rested.
And Jose gets a test with the 4 defenders who will play 2nd leg to Atletico.

                  On wed miss will be:
Willian - Luiz - Ramires - Hazard (if fit)

He may just be covering himself, as he usually does, if they lose he'll just point to the focus on the CL and the fact their chance of the title was slim anyway.

Think that looks like the likeliest scenario right now. Expectations management, as usual. A bit like when he kept insisting Chelsea weren't actually top because of City's games in hand.

If you go by "I would play the players that are not going to play next Wednesday [against Atletico Madrid]"

His team would be something like

        -----------Schwarzer (forced)
Ivanovic Cahill (forced) Luiz Azpi/Cole (one has to play)
        -----Mikel Matic
        Salah Lampard Schurrle
        ------------Ba

Meaning Torres, Eto'o, Oscar (I assume he'll need him to attack Atletico), Ramires, Willian and one of Azpi/Cole get rests.

        Hypothetically.

Silva might only play one more match all season. The only ways he plays two is if he's ready for this weekend (highly unlikely) or the first match of the DGW (possible but also difficult) based on Pelle's comments that he can't even train for a week after playing a match.

    My team

    Mannone,Adrain
    Ivan,Baines, Bertrand, Ward, Chambers
    Mata,Nasri,Eriksen, Mutch, Punch
    Suarez, Aguero, Lukakku

    Bank 2.0

    A) Baines & Lukkaku > Demi & Rooney -4
    B) Ward & Punch > Chester & Ramsey -4
    C) Ward>Demi this week then Baines & Luk > Rooney and United Defender next

My take on United assets for what it's worth!

Rooney and Mata 3 home matches vs NOR SUN HUL. Both nailed on and very central to the united attack. Cant go wrong.

Januzaj / United defenders.....might well hold off until DGW and see how Giggs will line up. Both could do extremely well in DGW.

Good reasoning. For me its a little awkward getting in Rooney for Lukaku as I'd need to downgrade somebody else. I'm not going to manage that if I have to sell Silva -> Yaya. I think if its too difficult to get a United asset then holding off for a week isn't a bad ploy.

          I'm 0.2 off Silva + Lukaku -> Rooney + Nasri

Yaya has simply been bossing it all season. His free kicks are amazing and he will be more involved in the attack with Silva out. Nasri is a good option too but hasn't been getting the same amount of points this season.

i reckon not. I think managers have a couple of different game plans which they work on in training the week of the match. When the team sheets are announced, final instructions are given on the actual game plan. I think manager mind games hurts us fantasy football managers far more than the opposing manager who is getting his team prepared to play the game.

Can't wait for the footy this weekend. What a way to end the season with city and chelsea coming to anfield.
My guess on lineups would be pool in 4-3-3 Mig. Flanno, Skrtel, agger, gj. Gerrard, allen, coutinho. SSS.
Chelski 4-2-3-1. Schwarzer. Cole, Cahill, ivan, azpi. Matic, luiz. Willian, Oscar, ramires. Torres

Yeah I'm sure it will be. I disagree on his tactics tbh. He is the defensive master no doubt but it's a highly technical and difficult way to play. I truly loved the tactical battles between him and rafa back in the day. High stakes no margin for error stuff. Different at anfield now though. It gonna be the irresistible force meets the unmovable object

Am absolutely confounded. Had planned to take a few hits to increase the DGWers in my squad but I now have two City players to deal with, Dzeko and Silva. Is selling Rooney for Suarez now and then getting Suarez back for 38 nuts?

In essence, will Rooney outscore Suarez by the eight pts in transfers in gw 36/37?

I've seen this asked a few times. In general people say it's crazy, but I don't see why. I will expect Rooney to outscore Suarez in this period. As long as you can afford the plan then it's all good. Just make sure your plan has allowed for a lower TV as you will surely lose money on taking Suarez out.

Cheers. Captaining Rooney would need to be done too. Have an extra 1m to cover the loss in value plus any other price changes.

Hazard and Suarez are the only things I did right this season and I am about to be shorn of them both...

Suarez away to cpl would worry me. That saidr, it is unlikely that you are going to give the armband to Suarez in either GW36 or DGW37. You can always bring Suarez back for GW38 for a hit and captain him.

If ever there was a time to drop Suarez altogether, now is the time.

I hear a lot of ppl saying that they will sell Suarez.

Why? He's healthy, not banned, his team need to score goals, and the other striker is injured.

Pretty recent. I stopped watching NBA for years as it stopped being easily accessible over here, I've not long got back into it and I picked a team to support to make it more interesting. I chose the Nets because I like their kit 😀
