KPI Forward Analysis – Home and Away

We continue our series of articles for members focusing on the player Key Performance Indicators (KPI). This time around, we delve into the data to discover those forwards who favoured home comforts over 2013/14 and also assess the more consistent strikers who produced the same sort of attacking threat regardless of fixture.

For the unfamiliar, these Key Performers Indicator (KPI) tables are designed to use a series of key stats to allow our members to track form or change in player performance. By tracking the frequency of certain key statistics and comparing over two separate periods of time, we can ascertain each player’s form, whether it be an improvement or decrease in displays on the pitch. As mentioned in last summer’s introductory article, we’ve rolled out a preview movie which shows just how to get the best out of the KPI tables.

    Thoughts please lads.

Mata and Jones or Eriksen and Shaw?

Keep going back and forth and can't seperate them.

As sure as can be right now, he is one of 3 senior CBs at the club and in 2 games since joinging he has played 3 CBs.

Obviously they could sign others and that may change but right now Id say he is nailed on.

There will be new def signings, so it's a bit too early to say... Verm could be excellent value if joins United!
      So I would have Mata+Vermaelen.

I was sold on Shaw simply because of his attacking nature BUT this is a big step up and not sure how he will adapt, I had hope he would do a Coleman but I'm not so sure he will.

Shaw was one of mine "must have players" when I first started drafting the team, he was in every possible combination.

Now, after watching some friendlies, he is out. As for now, he hasn't been nearly attacking as I though he would be, focusing more on his defensive duties rather than helping out in offence.

Still, will have to wait and see.

Yep, his transfer fee has fooled a lot of FPL managers. It will take a few years before we start to see Shaw's full potential. There is better value in the likes of Jones, Evans or DDG.

Doubt it though. N'nonzi, Ireland, Sidwell, Adam, Arnauotivc, Odemwengie, Bojan, not sure there's space for a defender to go into midfield. He'll probably be up against the first 3.

Doesn't this just mean that Cameron realises he will struggle to get into the defence and that midfield is his best chance of getting a game, not that he will be nailed on?

I agree. Plus the fact he's not very good makes me believe he won't be nailed on,

In my experience it's always better to spend a little bit extra with Stoje defenders, got burned by Wilson too many times in the past. Pieters or Huth is the way to go.

      B to be honest

I think rooney and RVP output will be similar, while Aguero is always an injury risk.

I would have a very difficult time spending over 10 mil on a player if I worry more about an injury than a goal

I'd maybe downgrade Costa to someone like Giroud or Dzeko so that you can upgrade Wanyama to someone like Snodgrass meaning you're able to rotate that player with Austin depending on fixtures.
Would also consider changing Silva to Fabregas

When at Arsenal I have to admit Fab was a great ff player. I suspect Haz will out score him, but I'm currently trying to work out if Chelsea as a team will score enough goals early on to justify attacking investment or will it be alot of 1-0 wins...

Hazard is of course the number one choice. Fabregas is a risk to start with, but will come good for sure....it's just that how Mourinho uses him. But it might be risk worth taking if you don't have funds for Hazard. Other than these, Chelsea midfield is a minefield....as we all know.

Keeper combo? Just no. Yeah, these two rotate well, but did you see the fixtures?

Defence. 6.0,6.0 and 5.0. Erm, that's costly, but will reap rewards.

Midfield. You have Ramsey and Fabregas as your 'premium' midfielders. Don't you think both being holding midfielders makes it a little drab potential-wise?

I'm not worried about the fixtures with those two goalkeepers...they will rack up the save points especially Mannone... And at 4.5 they are the cheapest and best playing options.

Shaw is the only question mark I have here, haven't seen much attacking potential in preseason yet, might drop him for a 5.0 like Davies.

Ramsey and Fab will be amongst the points I'm sure, Ramsey especially looked lively in preseason so far...

And I agree it's template here, but they simply offer the best value....might look to draft in Sturridge though

        Thanks for the reply !

Assuming all the 4.5s are starters, what do you think of the defence and front 7?

    DDG
Terry Cameron Chester ( Mariappa, Wisdom )
    Snoddy Hazard Sanchez Siggy
    Rooney Costa Dzeko

    Cheers

I don't rate your defence just because you said. Cameron, Mariappa and Wisdom are nowhere near starters, and I have my doubts about Terry starting week in week out.

I like all your midfield except Snodgrass, don't exactly expect him to light it up fantasy-wise. Front three, I do like your Costa pick. 😉

Yeah.....neither do I. It's the only way I can fund Dzeko though.
        Previous team:

        Begovic
        Shaw Terry Chester ( Mariappa/Taylor, Wisdom )
        Hazard Sanchez Siggy De Jong
        Rooney Costa Diouf

I guess I could go : Luis, Pieters, Chester ( Mariappa/Taylor) That ain't too bad.

Pieters? Yeah, atleast he is nailed-on.
And you would want to monitor the de Jong injury.

I think it's good, just wondering if Costa and Hazard is too much attacking Chelsea investment up front? Although it could pay off!

Downgrade Terry to Luis, who will be more nailed on imo. Read somewhere Jose plans to rotate his 3 cbs.

Use the saved 0.5 to upgrade one of your 4.5 def to B.Davies.

Chester ---> N.Taylor and u have at least 3 decent playable defenders

Double Pool attack seems excessive. Seems too much on GKs and not a fan of Herrara and Noble in FPL.

Hammers manager Sam Allardyce said his side’s new, more expansive style is still a work in progress. "The football was not good enough to get results, but we're experimenting and working on more open attacking play and it hasn't worked well from a defensive point of view," he said.

Allardyce added West Ham are missing the cohesion in defence which marked their game last season. "We just lost the defensive resilience that we had last season with 14 clean sheets," he said. "Today we got caught on the break twice in the first half - because we're trying to open play more; we've left too many spaces."

    Jones/B. Davies/Ferdinand (Wisdom/Targett)
    Hazard/Sanchez/Mata/Lamela (Siggy)

If he gets gametime he will score points but it's a big if, go safe with Hazard or Fabregas if your looking for a differential and monitor the rest for the first few weeks.

Not looking at him at the start going to be same situation as the arsenal players. But a few gws in I think at his price he'll be a great differential. If he plays regularly he'll score big points

Considering Chelsea's opening fixtures anyone going for Costa over Hazard? I mean Hazard is most probably the one to own the season, but Costa couldn't hope for better fixtures to make a few goals... I don't like Costa, but a punt worth taking?
