The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

De Gea/Hamer

Mariappa, Wisdom, Davies, Debuchy, Terry

Mata, Sigurdsson, Eriksen, Hazard, Albrighton

Diego Costa, Rooney, Diouf

Demi says he is pretty set on having David De Gea and a non-playing keeper, and it’s one of the few positions that have remained constant in all his drafts. Juan Mata, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Christian Eriksen and Eden Hazard have all featured strongly in most of his thoughts too, but, apparently, he could be persuaded to start the season with Cesc Fabregas and use the extra cash to upgrade his defence. Speaking of which, John Terry is the one certainty in Demi’s rearguard: the others are more doubtful. Demi is currently undecided as to whether to keep an Arsenal defender in his side, with Debuchy his current preferred selection.

Up front, Wayne Rooney is locked in, but Demi has been really struggling for inspiration on the other two forward spots. Diego Costa seems as good as any option for the first three or four games; he’s not keen on Olivier Giroud or Edin Dzeko with their respective fixtures. Would he be better off downgrading Costa and instead focusing on solidifying his defence?

  As long as you don't need your bench (Moore should be fine though) and Bojan becomes the success the majority on here doubts he will... that is one scary team.

  The only thing I'd be worried about is that the front line is too weak. That said, the midfield could make up for the difference. I just don't know if a 3-5-2 with either Bojan or Vaz Te every week would be enough...

  That's what I was thinking, if Bojan doesn't perform the way I expect him to, the strong midfield would make up for it. I still have .5 left, so who could be a good replacement for him for 6?

    I agree and I will probably end up doing those when the season starts. Much easier to downgrade than struggle to find the cash to do the opsite transfers.

      Good point about the availability of the cash going that direction. What's the feeling on the possible scoring gap between Hazard and Fabregas? I like Fab's price but worry that Hazard might significantly outscore him.

Ok. Made a few adjustments (and still a few more to go, I suspect). But at the moment it looks like this:

Krul - Foster
Cameron - Caulker - Debuchy - van Aanholt - Coleman
Coutinho - Sigurdsson - Hazard - Mata - Traore
Rooney - Lukaku - Bojan

2.0 mil in the bank

Wondering if I should go Coutinho to Sanchez and steal 0.5 from either Caulker or Debuchy. And I realize that Traore from QPR is really a punt at the moment, but I wanted to do something other than Albrighton as a 4.5 mid.

Thoughts? 1 to 10?

    I'm really on the fence about the Sanchez bandwagon. I'm just worried that he might be the Suarez of this year...but then he might not adjust. Plus the differential of someone like Countinho might come in handy...

      Lukaku is one that, I think, could have a transfer run on him early, even despite the fixtures. That said, with his ownership so high, it will take quite a bit to move that price...

This is my prediction untill the end of transfer window, 31.aug, for top 7 team and their potentional new players... only postion of course... 🙂

United - 1 CB, 1 RB and 1 wing ( LW or RW )... and maybe 1 def MID

City - 1 CB and 1 FWD

Chelsea - 1 FWD and maybe 1 RB

Arsenal - 1 FWD and 1 CB

Liverpool - 1 FWD and 1 LB

Can't seem to decide what to do with my team so I made a LOAD of adjustments since the last time I commented..

DDG - (Schmeichel)

Cahill - Koscielny - Caulker - (Wisdom - Demel)

Ramsey - Mata - Arney - Sanchez - (Jedinak)

Bojan - Rooney - Remy

Am I going about this all the wrong way? Last season I didn't do excellently so, are there any specific tips you guys can give me?

  The biggest tip would be to pick players that you know are 100% nailed on, or at least close to it.
  
  Here are the doubts
  
  Cahill (Ivanovic could play CB to make way for both Luis and Azpi, although might be worth the risk)
  Wisdom (Gamboa recently signed and he is a RB, although Wisdom might get starts early on at CB)
  Demel (I believe he also has competition thanks to a new signing)
  
  Other queries
  
  Bojan is a new player to the PL and its hard to know for sure whether he can adapt.
  Jedinak isn't exactly a great point scorer, could do better in that price range I think.
  Remy is probably going to be sold by QPR, future in doubt leave him out.

    Thanks for the tips!
    Until Remy is actually sold, I am going to keep him in the side.. not sure who else I'd have and it will probably be for the start of the season with QPR's relatively easy start.
    
    I know nothing about Wisdom at all: I got him solely because of his price and he seemed to be the popular opinon haha..
    
    What I've done is:
    
    Demel for Ward
    
    Cahill for Ivanovic -0.5
    
    Sanchez for Siggy +3.5 (Arsenal's first few fixtures aren't excellent anyway and I can make my mind up on him properly after seeing him play in the PL).
    
    Bojan for Bony - 3.0
    
    No doubt i'll change it again anyway! but thanks alot

      hendo's there for liverpool coverage, ive got shelvey purely for the bojan rotation which is incredible, and i reckon he could have a surprising season!

      I think you could do it without destroying all the balance if you did the following:
      
      Bego > Foster (good Krul rotation)
      Caulker > Pieters/Huth (if you want to have Stoke defence)
      Ward > Naylor
      Diouf > Austin/Bojan
      
      These moves save enough for Arnie to turn into Eriksen

        I like the money finding measures. Still think it'd be better spent on Arnie>Eriksen but on the whole I like it and Jovetic is an interesting albeit risky option. Bavies isn't guaranteed to play though

Mannone (Krul)
Ferdinand - Van Aanholt - Vlaar (Lafferty / Wisdom)
Ox - Silva - Sterling - Eriksen - Hazard
Sturridge - Rooney (Bojan)

Cheap defence but allows a much stronger attack. Was tempted by Sanchez or Yaya but too expensive

  There's cheap defence and there's non existant defence. I don't even know who Lafferty is. Ox won't play you can sell him for a cheapie for a start. At least find the money for one decent defender eg Evans.

  Ox is an interesting punt. Love Sturridge. But I'd try to find a little bit more cash for the defense. I don't think your 4.0s are even nailed on so if you get an injury you could be down to 10 players with no way to upgrade.

      There's nothing wrong with 3-5-2. It's a good team but this is a squad game so I would recommend upgrading Vaz Te to a 5.5m striker by downgrading Terry to Luis and Reid to a 4.5m defender.
