Mondogoal Arrives At Fantasy Football Scout

Fantasy Football Scout are delighted to announce that we’re teaming up with Mondogoal, a new daily and weekly Fantasy Football game, for the 2014/15 season.

Mondogoal arrives as a new player on the scene, backed by two of the Premier League’s elite – Man City and Liverpool – and delivers a new experience, allowing Fantasy Managers to compete for free or for cash prizes across a range of games in any given Gameweek.

The game not only covers the Premier League; Mondogoal support both the Champions League and Europa League and run contests for all the major top flight leagues – Serie A, La Liga, Bundesliga, Ligue 1 and Major League Soccer (MLS).

Getting involved is simple – you register an account, find a contest to join and then go about selecting your starting XI.

The basic principles will be familiar, although Mondogoal has its own scoring system which introduces new factors into play when considering your lineup. Points are awarded for completed passes, defenders benefit from interceptions gathered, while the propensity to draw and commit fouls is also key.

Each week we’ll be presenting you with our assessment of the top targets on offer ahead of each set of Premier League fixtures. Throughout the season, Mondogoal will be hosting Fantasy Football Scout contests with prize pots on offer for our visitors.

A full strategy guide, discussing the finer points of the Mondogoal scoring system and assessing how this will shape our tactics, will be published later this week.

        Luis, Davies and Ferdinand are all definitely nailed on. Luis and Davies have been signed for bug money (relative to the teams) and must play as they are both the best left backs at their clubs. Cameron should play but it is Mariappa I am really worried about. Any suggestions on saving the 1m need to upgrade Cameron and Mariappa?

      Assume you'll mostly be playing 3-4-3 meaning you'll have 2 defenders on the bench each week?
      
      Downgrade Cameron to a 4 million (Wisdom, Moore or Duff - all of these have a better if not similar chance as Cameron to starting imo) and use the 0.5 to upgrade Mariappa to Ward.

        I have got a rotation strategy with Siggy + Cameron and Ward + Ferdinand. I don't want to break that. I was thinking about downgrading Krul to give me 0.5m or possibly downgrade Sterling or Eriksen to De Jong to give me 1m/1.5m.

  It is for me. Once Sterling found his way into my team, Hendo ceased to be an option. From GW4, I might revisit my decision based on how Siggy and Hendo are faring

    Yeah good call, the other option is (if i'm going the Hendo route) to switch Sterling for Nasri but would feel like i'm downgrading then on Pool attack.

  I'd think that neither are likely to start GW1 due to a lack of pre-season minutes (and a slight injury to Mariappa). In time (and who knows, even by GW2) both might work their way back into the team.
  
  So this sucks for Cameron who has Villa GW1 at home, but for Mariappa his owners could wait until GW2 anyway

Looking like I'll go with two 4.5 defenders, with maybe Hazard and Sturridge.

  My personal feeling is yes. Attacking players generally score the most points and cleanies can be hard to come by at the start of the season. So I'd load up on decent FWDs & MFers and spend a little less in DF.
  
  Then if you can build a decent team value by Jan wildcard time, then that DF is a distinct possibility

    I have thought about this but I simply can't see the logic.
    
    You will only buy him if he performs. You're not going to spend 11M on a player who hasn't don't anything yet, even though it is unlikely he blanks.
    
    The second he does something people will panick and knee jerk him in, casuals buy him, and his price rises.
    
    Then it becomes very complicated. Its easier to sit with him and wait and see, a downgrade is easy.

A. Rooney, Costa & 8.5m striker (Dzeko, Giroud etc.) in a 3-4-3 with a stronger defense
B. Rooney, Costa & Sturridge in a 3-4-3 with a light defense
C. Rooney, Costa & ~5.5m striker (Bojan, Austin etc.) in a 3-5-2 with a stronger midfield
