The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would be prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

Ryan’s biggest concern is his cheap defenders. Any ideas for improvement there? Is he right to spend so much on Ivanovic or to trust in Stevan Jovetic replicating his preseason form?

      Looks good, except your midfield is a little suspect. I assume you have Siggy rotating with Bojan and 3 in the back?

      Wouldn't use Krul, a 4.0 would be better IMO. Weak mid.

      Stoke fixtures are good so id get in a 4m GK and play bego every week.
      Caulker offers just as little going forward as ferdinand but is .5 more = downgrade
      Gives you a million to improve

        Thanks. Yed Marney and Davis would be benched in either option. The fear for me is that Sturridge goes wild on Sunday. It seems more likely to me than Costa doing so.

    Ok then, my first RMT. Think I am finally happy. Could do Hazard to Eriksen, Terry to 4.5 def.

      Id downgrade Clyne, Southampton arent the same team this year.
      If you got in Hutton instead of clyne your +1m
      4.5 striker can be 5.5 = fletcher or bojan

        Wouldn't be playing my striker thou. Southampton have some nice fixtures after GW 1 and Clyne is very attacking. Can see a couple of assists to Pelle the giant.

      Your team looks pretty strong, your defence is a little on the cheap side which is the only thing I find wrong with your team, front 8 look very strong, much similar to my front, do you not think a premium defender and 2 5.0 then 2 4.0 would be a more stable option? only have to find 1m elsewhere in the team

        This is what I'd do, Bego will be a mainstay for the first 4 or 5 gameweeks so I'd spend the .5 elsewhere in the team

      I like the Lovren pick but Liverpool fixtures are tough to start, I have him on my watch list for I think GW4 onwards, Zamora also is one I'd have a rethink about, other than that your team looks very strong.

    I'm feeling pretty good about this team, but other opinions are always much appreciated, a wealth of knowledge on here and would be silly not to use it.

      Bojan gets a lot of love on this site but I see him as a risk, if you can get the extra .5 to upgrade him to Austin I would. Bego + Krul is same cost as DDG + 4.0 so that's a preference thing but I prefer DDG as united opening fixtures are strong and it saves you from trying to guess which keeper is going to keep a cleanie and possibly benching points. I'm also unsure about Arteta, not likely to be pushing forward and only ouput will be pens (Arsenal fan) I'd switch him out for a similarly priced mid, probably Siggy.

    Planning on swapping Mata + Schurle for Eriksen and Sterling after some gameweeks.

      Team looks strong, there are no glaring problems, Mata is almost essential in my opinion so I wouldn't get rid of him, Schurrle however is a rotation risk and I'd look to swap him out for someone else.

        Thank you. Yeah, that's my concern aswell. Still he is quite cheap. Navas is another priced at 7,5 mill, but is also a rotation risk. If I could free up 0,5 to afford Eriksen it would be nice, but don't know how. Maybe Terry -> Azpi or Chester -> Bruce, but these are not safe-starters either.

        I think I might gamble on Schurle the first few gameweeks 😉 If he is on the bench he often scores when subbed on so no worry ^^

      Team looks really good, Ward is not as good as he looked 24 hours ago with Pulis leaving palace so I'd have a think about him, other than that I don't see anything wrong with that team

        thanks! yeah I am not sure what to do with Ward....I might see how he and palace do for a few weeks and by then will be clearer on starters and other options.

        at least if he does well his ownership is very low at the moment! i am keeping faith

    0.5m in bank.

    1. Sterling or Fab? Liverpool cover for GW1 is a must I feel.

    2. Jovetic or Dzeko? Jovetic has looked more match fit than Dzeko.

    3. Is Mata and Rooney really essential double up? Or perhaps can switch him to another 9.0m for another team's cover?
