Monitor – Morgan Schneiderlin

Arsenal and Tottenham were both rebuffed in their attempts to sign Southampton’s World Cup star Morgan Schneiderlin this summer and hanging on to the French midfielder has proven crucial to the Saints’ ascent under new boss Ronald Koeman.

The 10.7% of Fantasy Premier League managers who have backed Schneiderlin have seen a phenomenal return from the central midfielder, who has chalked up 29 points in his last three appearances, courtesy of a trio of goals and four bonus points.

In our next members’ article of the week, we turn to the Key Performance Indicators (KPI) tables in order to assess Schneiderlin’s progress from the previous campaign under Mauricio Pochettino.

For the unfamiliar, these KPI tables are designed to use a series of key stats to allow our members to track form or changes in player performance. By tracking the frequency of certain key statistics and comparing them over two separate periods of time, we can ascertain whether a player’s form has improved or declined. As mentioned in last summer’s introductory article, we’ve rolled out a preview movie which shows just how to get the best out of the KPI tables.

By comparing this season to last, we should be able to get an indication as to how he will be utilised in Koeman’s new-look side and determine whether his high points return so far could be sustainable. By also referencing the Comparison Tool and season totals, we get a better indication as to how he fared:

    A) Why did Aguero start on the bench last night?
    B) For those who watched the Chelsea game, how would you rate Hazard?

Presumably because Pellegrini seems to think all that petropound was not invested into CL glory. Dunno about the Chelsea game, did okay from what I hear, their profligacy notwithstanding.

I heard Hazard is getting back to his best, Don't know if it's time to switch from Ramsey to him (given the horrible display of the gunners).
As for Aguero, did it have anything to do with injuries/rest ??

He's fine as far as I know, just got rested for the weekend. I don't know what Hazard's best is, but I don't really feel compelled to bring him in as long as Cesc continues in this form.

In my opinion, there main aim was to rest Aguero for Chelsea but send him in Dzeko screws up but in my opinion Dzeko was quite impressive last night.

Aguero is better playing with a partner. Dzeko played to hold the ball up more?

Hazard was very lively. Hitting good form. Whether that translates into fantasy points is a completely different thing altogether, however.

If kanye west had any involvement with disability through his family i feel sure his attitude would be very different indeed.......this is not funny at all and you should be ashamed of yourself for posting it tbh. It is no different than racism, sexism or any other type of discrimination. No place for it in society or on these pages.

The bogus report was published on the Daily Currant, a satirical website.

According to that straw poll I did on the previous page, no one puts Hazard in their top 4 midfielders, whereas Chadli got a couple of votes, as did Sanchez.

Ramsey and Sterling continue to be the most popular.

      • 10 Years

Hazard is not gaining popular support as his points are blocked by Costa and Fabregas. Right now, they look more impressive. Chadli is just on a lucky toll. Anyday, I'll prefer Sanchez over Ramsey and Sterling is a must imo

current form = The chad, Fabregas & Ramsey.

Sterling is fine now that rodgers brain explosion is over.
Sanchez not worth $$$ in my opinion

ADM had one good game against QPR - see if he is consistant

I expect Hazard to end the season with another impressive points total but right now nobody is going to pick him ahead of Fabregas. There'll be a stage in the season where he's hoovering up all the points though, I'm more or less certain of that - I bet I miss the boat though 😆

Sanchez is an interesting one - seems to be quietly clicking into gear and will surely get a lot of goals. Going to be very hard to pick your Arsenal assets once (if) he, Ramsey, Walcott and Welbeck are all available at the same time.

It's giving me pause for thought on bringing in Chambers. I already have Ramsey and plan to get Welbeck. That would leave no room at the inn for a returning Walcott/improving Sanchez. Hmm 😕

Chelsea aside, I'd play an Arsenal defender in all of their coming fixtures - the Arsenal defence has been very secure the last couple of seasons. Admittedly this season hasn't started that way but at 4.5 he seems too good to refuse. I'm in turmoil!

            Wally
            Ramsey
            Chambers from gw8, for value.
            Welbeck
            Sanchez

Walcott is fantasy gold IMO. The other places are rather fluid and will no doubt change as we go on. I'm putting welbeck ahead of Sanchez simply down to price.

How do you see it then?

              I simply don't know!

I agree Walcott is a great points scorer when fit (although injury always seems to be around the corner)

Welbeck and Chambers both look terrific value in their respective positions.

Ramsey is the steady eddie who would annoy you hugely if you were a non-owner.

Sanchez is the exciting new player who may well outscore them all but comes at a premium.

              It's frankly a pain!

I can't make up my mind - need a community advise

For GW5 I am choosing between Naismith (plays Palace at home) or Rooney (plays Lei away) or Balotelli (plays West Ham away).

So what goes on in my mind:
    - Conceded goals: Palace 8 (seems a bit leaky), Lei 5 (that is fairly good) West H 7 (same as WBA)
Everton got a home game seems Naismith is the way to go
    But
    - Naismith did not fire vs, WBA and Lukaku started his goals scoring - i.e is Naismith getting into a more supporting role now when Mirallas and Lukaku show some form?
    - Balotelli was shite vs. AV but fired a goal in the Championship L - is he back with more self-confidence? I think he is very much affected by that
    - Rooney many here in FFS likes him, he was fairly good vs. QPR, but when Falcao came in he went into a role that maybe does not score that much points in Fantasy

Any additional view that I did not think of?

Felipe Luis was excellent yesterday.. Chelsea fans man of the match(closely followed by Hazard). really hope jose starts him soon. though azpi has not put a foot wrong so far Felipe offers a good attacking threat(those crosses yesterday  ) while looking as good defensively too. In an ideal world Azpi should move right and Felipe should play left but unless there's an injury i doubt mourinho will do that 🙁

that dint come out right 🙂 .. anyway, i really think it's time ivan gets the boot/jose tells him to curtail his runs. he's amazing at attacking but our attackers are amazing too. we need him to defend.

In an ideal world: Terry would be injured (most owners on here seem to have shipped him so it would only hurt the casuals), Ivanovic would move across to CB, Azpi to RB and Luis to LB.

      1. Valar(Keith)
        • 14 Years

Terry has been good so far though(apart from a few mistakes). Cahill has been the poorer of the two. And if you are talking about fpl.. ivan's main thing going for him is his attacking threat.. if he goes to CB then i'm pretty sure he'll losed a lot of investors fpl wise

I think he'll be a substitute this weekend.

It's really all guess work as for how he fits in. He will probably fit into the team one of two ways, IMO but either way will be advanced on one wing.

      Tadic - Pelle - Mane
      X - X - Schneiderlin (3 central, deeper-lying midfielders)

      OR

      --------- Pelle ---------
      Long - Tadic - Mane
      X - Schneiderlin

And then it'll change again when J-Rod is fit.

I hope its the first model
much respect to the management team but i still cannot understand long's purchase or appearance on any pitch-he's not the same player that played at west brom

He offers us a decent attacking alternative - mobility and pace, playing on the shoulder - rather than Pelle as a target man. We particularly needed that alternative with J-Rod's long term absent. Otherwise, any significant injury to Pelle and we would have had no recognised striker to call upon, other than teenage Sam Gallagher.

He was far too expensive, I agree. But he has something to offer the squad as a whole, even if his goal-scoring record has never been stellar. And he has PL experience which is more than can be said for most of our new signings.

okay agree on the experience given all the newbies
it became obvious that koeman did not want to have another crack at guidetti-I suppose the risk might have been too great-at least with shane you know what you are going to get even if i feel it is substandard

'Substandard' is harsh. I agree he's not on Tadic's level but he's a decent PL player. Too pricey but reliable.

Question, if Terry were your err... flagship defender and you were absolutely sick of him and profoundly disgusted with your muggins self for buying into the Chelsea rearguard myth, and you had a Soton defender anyway, so Bertrand would be out of the question, who would you eye as a possible replacement?

And don't say Baines, it's always Baines this and Baines that, I'd rather he never existed.

Nope. I'd be tempted to switch your keepers and play Naylor instead of Clyne. Don't trust soton to keep a cleanie against an inform Swansea and certainly wouldn't want to risk playing 2 of them if McCarthy doesn't start.
