The Big Numbers – Gameweek 5

We delve into the Gameweek 5 data this evening in our first members article of the week. Wayne Rooney’s new role for United comes under analysis, as do Burnley and Leicester’s displays up front, whilst a couple of north London-based frontmen are also placed under the microscope after their contrasting weekend performances.

Who do you think gonna be the Yaya of this year?

Yaya: the player who scores points irrespective of playing position, shots/goal ratio & other not good looking stats. Also he gets drafted in by a majority resulting in his price shooting up and some of us remain rigid around here using some of these logics: Can't sustain the points/not worth it anymore after the price rises/ just plain rigid

Prices are not going to do that, if the thresholds stay as they are. £1.5 max as a rise will mean they can still be bought quite easily.
ADM and Sterling. The crucial thing about both these players, other than talent, is that they are enjoying their football.

Posted this earlier. Which one do you guys prefer?

    A. Eriksen-->Di Maria (Will leave me with 0.0 ITB, Will also leave me with 3 united players, Fixtures getting tougher for United)

    B. Rooney---> Aguero (Easy fixture for Aguero, Rooney playing in the "hole". Less attacking potential for him. Will be unable to fund for this move if I do A)

    C. Chester---->Naylor/Pva/Chambers (Any of these players will be benched this GW. Since I have Dummet I only have 3 nailed defenders. A replacement for Chester will help in the future.)

Im thinking B at the moment as Im not keen on Uniteds upcoming fixtures, could see them losing to WHM, also have DDG. Thoughts?

I'd do A and give another look at United if Rooney plays behind the strikers.

Which 3 United players? Their defense is a no go area and 3 attackers is a nigtmare,

On a wc, how's my team? Feel as though defense is light but options are poor

    Forster (4.0)

    Clyne, Duff, Naylor, chambers, Moore

Fab, Sterling, Di Maria, Siggy, Boyd

    Pelle, Kun, Costa

    Thanks

Moreno and Ramsey to Bertrand (means doubling with Clyne) and di Maria for free. Sound good?

Soton have three homes in the next four so don't mind doubling up, and Man Utd were the only 'big' team I had no attacker from. Got to be alright, yeah?

Sorry, I accidently posted this in the DZ.
    Any help is MUCH appreciated...

    Decisions for next week... Currently:

    Heaton
    Bardsley -- Clyne -- Naylor
    Mata -- Ramsey -- Sterling -- Fabregas
    Rooney -- Naismith -- Costa

    McGregor -- Kelly -- Marney -- Caulker

    2 FT's, thinking of doing:

    Mata --> Di Maria
    Ramsey --> Siggy
    Naismith --> Ulloa/Vardy

Worth a -4? Have to do 3 to afford Di Maria...

    My team at the moment:

    Forster (McCarthy)

    PvA Moreno Shawcross (Hutton Moore)

    Sterling ADM Fab Siggy (Boyd)

    Aguero Welbeck Costa

    2FT 0.1ITB

Not really sure what to do with this. Would like to get Chambers and Baines instead of Shawcross and Moreno but missing 0.3m for that move so would have to downgrade elsewhere as well (PvA -> 4m, Aguero -> Sturridge when he is fit?)

And Moreno and Shawcross’ fixtures look better than Chambers/Baines’ for the next 2 gameweeks.

Should I just leave it as it is? Seems like a waste of a transfer though.

Double defences are high risk high reward, so yeah they can be immensely good or immensely bad. We don't really know.

For the next few matches, I'd rather have two southampton than two of pretty much any other team though, put it that way.

City have averaged just 1,6 goals per match so far compared to 2,7 last season. This is probably down to WC hangover for many players and Yaya out of form, but soon City will headline the “Frisking the fixtures” and the goals are likely to flow yet again, especially at home. How are people planning for this? Is Aguero the only way to go? Not many City players around in teams atm

    1. Think Tank

      I think they miss Negredo.

I've had Aguero from gw2 and frustrated by him (2 captain fails)

Will probably keep for a little while longer, but have big questions over his value.

Yes I think they miss the Negredo of last autum. They dont have as many strings to play at offensively this season when Jovetic also i injured. Seems more static.

I am thinking this too, tho further price dropping is most welcome

Tho there is the chance he will simply return to be a normal good DM this season, without all the goals, heavily critisized ofcourse as people will always compare with last season. Which is a bit unfair maybe, in historical perspective.

Fabregas will be tied down in the pivot, and even more dependent on Costa finnishing off his passes from deep. Costa will not keep it up at this rate, statistically nobody does, and a shift to Hazard could well be the wise move.

The Krul conundrum - strategies for getting him out.

So many of us have Krul, but no one wants to take a hit to get rid, but with so many nice options upfront to play around with, (ADM, Pelle, Aguero, Walcott) all to possibly bring in when do you take a GW to change the keeper? Perhaps it is worth a hit.

I have Krul/Foster, Foster seems like an ok bet this week, but really could do with getting in Heaton, Forster or Mannone.

What strategies are those with Krul taking......

Keeping. If anything's to go by, most keepers end up around the same points at the end of the season. Unless on wildcard or no other attacking transfers, I would just keep.

When it comes to cheap goalkeepers, I'm a strong believer in just being patient. at 4.5, Krul will pick up a few clean sheets and saves. Nobody at 4.5 is likely to be prolific in terms of clean sheets, regardless of form up until now.

I also have krul and foster btw and sticking until I wildcard.

Really cant decide between ulloa/pelle or welbeck.

My concern with ulloa is alot of naismith owners in my leagues are going to bring him in and with a good fixture there every chance he could deliver. Worried about not having when alot in my leagues will do.

I cant help thinking welbeck and pelle with QPR are better picks but spurs at home is a tough game and im not sure im trust southampton enough to go with pelle.

having decided to hold off on Di Maria last week, my lead in my leagues is eaten up so have to get this call on the money this week.

Between ulloa/pelle and welbeck who is likely to get best returns this week? Reckon ulloa next week but either pelle or welbeck this week?
