they're resilient, but they're not great. Would just go Wilson and bank the 0.5 if you want a Stoke def.

    Rooney on the red card:

"I saw the West Ham player making a counter-attack and tried to break-up the play. I just misjudged it. I am gutted that I am going to miss the next three games. I expect people to say it’s my temper again but I was trying to break up the play. It was a dangerous situation and I just misjudged it.

But I have no complaints. I haven’t absolutely volleyed the lad. I have tried to trip him up and he got further away from me and that is why my leg is straighter than it should have been. I have apologised to the lads."

You do that only if you don't have a clear cut option this week. Anything Siggy does at that price is a bonus not a given. Fact that you had two red arrows won't prevent a 3rd one.

Oh, I meant I finally got a green arrow this week haha.

I'm considering it only because of the lack of options.

        I have:

Siggy (NEW) ; Di Maria (EVE) ; Fabregas (ARS) ; Sterling (WBA)
Ulloa (BUR) ; Balotelli (WBA) ; Costa (ARS)

Personally I only like Sterling/Siggy out of that bunch. Who would you captain?

I'm surprised people aren't even considering Wilshere. If Ramsey is out for the reported 6 weeks - Wilshere could be good value at 6.4m in the Arsenal midfield. Especially considering he's been playing well this season (even though the team has been struggling).

But the chances of WIlshere lasting 6 weeks himself are slim to none + he just doesn't score or assist enough for me.

Agreed. Just saying he would be there in my thoughts if I had to get of Ramsey.

I may bring in Wilshere after the next game though - he seems to be turning a page and with him playing without Ramsey - one could see him go boom.

Could I wait until GW8 to wildcard? Is a wildcard before GW8 advisable?

    Krul (swa)
Ivanovic (ARS), Taylor (NEW), Duff (lei), Moore (BUR)
Fabregas (ARS), Sterling (WBA), Sigurdsson (NEW)
Ulloa (BUR), Costa (ARS), Pelle (tot)

Elliot (swa), Clyne (tot), Ramsey (INJ), Mutch (INJ)

Free transfer used. 4.8m in the bank.

Price rises and falls are getting out of hand. Needs to be scrapped completely.

What do they expect you to do, make transfers before a weekends football is even finished?

If its like this next season, I won't be playing.

I disagree, price rises and falls of anything you trade is not transparent.

In reality, you only see the change after the value has changed. in FPL they change at a certain time so knowing before seems a bit..... well unrealistic

        2. Shifty
          • 10 Years
          9 years, 7 months ago

Precisely. If FPL thinks that keeping it super secret is going to make the game more fun, they're wrong.

Like any other game in the world, there are good players and recreational players. Good players are good because of 1) talent, 2) luck, 3) knowledge of the game's technicalities.

Don't see any reason why the price change mechanism shouldn't be made public. If someone is serious enough about the game, they will search for how it works and use that as one of the many tools available.

        Not like this it shouldn't.

        1) People like to analyze all their options.
        2) People like to wait till the end of the week to make sure they are safe doing the transfer.

            1) They want you to make transfers before a GW is finished

            2) If you don't like doing that you will be punished and you may be punished later on trying to get that player in. Because it may take 2 transfers and not just 1.

              1) Who does? You are free to make as many transfers whenever and however you want!

              2) Didn't understand what you meant by punished but I get your concern which is that you will miss the price changes if you wait too long. But that's the tradeoff! If you make it at the end of the week, you may (or may not) lose value but you also get to find the best replacement and Vice Versa.

Yes I used to like the Sky game, but that all went tits up with the captain changes.

I'll more than likely walk away from all of it next season. They keep trying to reinvent it and change things.

Just leave the thing as it was. It was never broke.

If its going to be this way then I believe it is better scrapped.

Ramsey got injured, at least give people some time to decide the best option to come in. Who the hell wants to do that transfer on Sunday or Monday, knowing something could happen to that incoming player mid-week, meaning you've just swapped one injured player for another?

So then you eat the £0.1m price drop like I have done... that is the option.

You either get rid straight away and risk a replacement maybe getting injured midweek or you let him drop slightly, allowing you to buy more time.

I don't see the problem... if we got rid of price changes altogether, everyone would have the same team, rendering this game pointless.

I think you're misunderstanding the point.

If its going to be like this current system, its better scrapped altogether IMO.

I've got no real issue with how it was. Maybe it was a little too exaggerated in price rises. But at least you know where you stand.

Nobody has a clue at the moment.

I'm not misunderstanding anything... you're misunderstanding that if price changes didn't exist, we would all have the same team.

Everyone agrees it was much better when we knew when price changes will happen.. but FPL have changed that, so we have to accept it. Scrapping price changes altogether would ruin the game completely.

Im not understanding everyones issue with the current method.

The same rule applies to everyone, so in no way is it more or less fair to anyone.

Making an early transfer has risk and reward, risk in injuries, reward in price. this is something you need to make the call on.

makes the game more challenging i think.

Its less fair to players that like to take their time and make the right decisions.

For instance, I have Ramsey. He gets injured. I'm forced into making a change I didn't really want to make. I'm considering 1 of about 5 or 6 players. Some of which will play in games mid-week. All of which will be training. I'm not going to jump in making a transfer, until I know I am safe to do so. Why would I risk getting an injured player in for another?

I was considering di Maria. di Maria has now gone up 0.1 Ramsey down 0.1.

The GW didn't finish till last night.

Like everyone said, it's part of the game. Same applies for everyone. People who bite the bullet would also like to take their time and make the right decision IDEALLY. If everything was ideal, wouldn't be much of a game now would it.

Take your time and make the right decision, there's not rule against that. It's allowed FYI. Just don't complain about losing team value as well.

That was always the case previously though. Nothing has changed in that regard - if last year's system was in place you wouldn't have had any more time to make your decision.

This game is about taking risks and gambling. You can just make your transfer end of the week and not care about price rises or falls. Can't have everything.

I do however find the profit system stupid. If I've had a player from the start that rose 1.6, and then sold him for a few of weeks, I should be able to buy him back at my current price. Why should I be penalized when I made the right decision to get him in the first place. Think Mark mentioned this in one of his pre match ambles or something last year

He may have mentioned it once or twice...

I HATE this argument. It is based on bad maths. You're not being penalised, you've still made or saved money compared to someone who bought the player at their current price.

Got side tracked and didnt stress on the point i wanted to originally. My main issue is not being able to sell the player for as much as he's risen. That would be justly rewarding. If he rises after I sell him, I miss out and thats my bad luck.

Yes and if you want that player back in in the future. You have to pay the new price. Bit saft.

The more you look at it the more you start to notice little things wrong.

This will be my last season I think. Across any of the games. Its all started going downhill.

Have a look and let me know what you think.

Just played the wildcard as I had too many issues:

    Mannone
    Zabaleta, Ivan, Bertrand, Hutton, Moore
Sterling, Di Maria, Willian, Lallana, Milner
    Costa, Pelle, Campbell

Was looking to fit in Courtois, but went with the cheap goalie.
Willian is a punt which will be swapped for a cheapie if it fails, and then spent on getting Sturridge in up front for Pelle.

I think both Willian and Lallana are about to hit form, as is Campbell.
Willian is a risk though in terms of rotation, so I will watch closely.

People considering selling siggy as he's blanked 3 games in a row need to lower their expectations. He cost most of us 6m, you shouldn't expect goals and assists every week. 4-5 ppg would be good enough. Currently he's on 6

One solution i havent heard mentioned is for the prices to change once a week. For example at deadline until sunday, with no transfers being allowed on that day.
Then you wouldnt have to worry about making any transfers early in the week

And not just .1 changes either , proper ones that reflect players true value. For example Siggi should now really be 7.5 or 8m.

What about some sort of points per million (ppm) system. If a player is scoring over a certain pppm (not sure what) then they raise in value to keep a lid on it. Likewise if they drop below a certain ppm. Would keep things fairly balanced maybe.....

I have climbed to 331 in the overall ranking, and have 2.2M to spend. I've done my FT for this week so this is more looking ahead.

I'm tempted to leave alone this team as its doing well but I think there are better options for my defence, any pressing transferred required?

    Krul - Elliott

    Wilson - Bertrand - PVA - Duff - Wasilewski

Fabregas - Siggy - Di Maria - Sterling - Schneiderlin

    Aguero - Costa - Ulloa

I get waiting to see if the person you want to draft in gets out unscathed....but waiting on Ramsey > Di Maria (who doesn't have a midweek game), just because you might want to use the FT on Chambers if he's injured - that doesn't make sense at all sorry.
