Monitor – Dusan Tadic

Southampton’s displays under Ronald Koeman have been one of the success stories of 2014/15 so far. Few believed the Saints were capable of replicating last term’s eight-placed finish after a handful of their leading lights followed Mauricio Pochettino through the exit door but Koeman’s canny dealings in the transfer market have steered his side into third spot after seven rounds of fixtures.

Whilst Graziano Pelle has hit the ground running as a replacement for Rickie Lambert, fellow new boy Dusan Tadic has yet step out of Adam Lallana’s 2013/14 shadow. The latter served up 178 points in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game last year, courtesy of nine goals, nine assists and 20 bonus points, whereas Tadic – who arrived on the back of 28 goals and 29 assists in his two seasons with FC Twente – has mustered just a trio of assists so far.

With spot-kick and dead-ball duties in his favour, the Serbian playmaker certainly has the upcoming fixtures to improve. Home showdowns against Sunderland, Stoke and Leicester, allied with trips to Hull and Villa in the next five, look tailor-made for the 7.5-priced, 2%-owned midfielder to finally make an impact before the schedule takes a turn for the worse in Gameweek 13.

With that in mind, we compare Tadic’s displays to Lallana’s from last season and also cast an eye over his displays relative to this term’s main men in the midfield bracket.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

2 games, 11 city goals. They have already had a Liverpool domination this season, which bodes well for City as Liverpool dominated them in both games last season. New manager all the same.

Evs - Where do you plan to go with DDG? Straight swap for similar price or downgrade? Assume you are sticking with the 1 keeper policy?

I'm in the same boat, obvious straight swaps to Szez and Lloris looking at fixtures but both have cheaper routes into the backline?

Im in a last man standing competition where you have to pick a team each week for as long as you stay in the competition. However, you can only pick each team once. It starts this week and im thinking

Gw 8) Southampton at home to hull
Gw 9) Spurs at home to Newcastle
GW10) Arsenal at home to burnley

Any suggestions on how to improve these picks or possible surprises?

    Thanks in advance.

    Forster

    Chambers, Moore, Clyne, Wisdom, Duff

    Siggy, ADM, Sterling, Hazard, Boyd

    Aguero, Costa, Welbeck

Would love to improve my defence but really struggling with funds. Plus I'm a firm believer in not wasting a transfer.

Hi, new poster, long time observer... Just weighing in on the captaincy debate to say I'm captaining ADM this week (and most other weeks), he has a higher points per game average than Costa and in my opinion more likely to pick up bonus points. Surprised he hasn't got more support. Any reason for this?

    1. Alan The Llama
      • 14 Years

Not sure he'll continue with those points hauls, especially with his fixtures. I might sell him next week.

I'm not sure you can buy him back when they pick back up.

I'll stick through fixtures with Di Maria. Goals are still scored and assisted in crunch games too.

            1. Alan The Llama
              • 14 Years
              9 years, 6 months ago

Che, City, Ars, Sot and Liv amongst their next 8 fixtures, after WBA, I got him at 9.5, so if he stays the same price, he'll cost me 0.3 more to get him back. Shouldn't be an issue to get him back.

I agree, to an extent. I think its worth points against lower teams, but theres no escaping the fact that Utd haven't been playing very well and are due to play better opposition soon. I think theres a decent chance that ADM could prove an expensive option in the end for the points on offer.

Just keep him? Surely a waste of a transfer if you plan to get him back in anyways. Their fixtures are looking good for a while and can't pass up on that value

      I'd play Moore

@whoever was enquiring about Distin a couple of pages back...I'd hold to see if Tyias Browning gets the nod. Plenty of clamour for him on Mersey side and he can play full back or CB...Just a chance he may get to show what he can do and then he'll be a steal at 4.0...Very highly regarded at Everton.

Yea..seems to me that Distin is being pushed to the margins a bit. Having said that if he plays Hibbert and Browning it starts to look a bit makeshift and perhaps too much new blood at once...We'll have to see what happens.

you kinda get the impression that Martinez wants to put him in but with them leaking too many goals just now you can see the reason why he is not throwing him in, He will probably want the defence to shore things up so not to ruin his confidence throwing him into a leaky defence

I love how some people call RVP past it, over the hill, too old. How old is he exactly? 30? 31? Hardly grandad age.

Now granted I am not exactly a huge fan of his but he was a great player in the not too distant past. Surely he hasn't lost it all seemingly over night. Or has he?

Hey Grim i know where your coming from , Sterling shouldn't be struggling so early on in the season , but Rodgers is in a slightly difficult situation now on how he handles this ...90 mins against QPR and then has a shocker against Real Madrid and people are going to start asking questions...seems easier for me for Rodgers to bench Sterling for QPR ..

even if he benches him it doesn't bode well for the future.

getting sick of always being few transfers away from having the team i want. kinda feel stagnant

so is this team 'stick' material once again:

    Bego
    Terry, Duff, Moore
    Sterling, Siggo, ADM, tadic
    Aguero, Costa, Ulloa

    ?

Both have good fixtures. I like Welbeck v Hull.
