Monitor – Dusan Tadic

Southampton’s displays under Ronald Koeman have been one of the success stories of 2014/15 so far. Few believed the Saints were capable of replicating last term’s eight-placed finish after a handful of their leading lights followed Mauricio Pochettino through the exit door but Koeman’s canny dealings in the transfer market have steered his side into third spot after seven rounds of fixtures.

Whilst Graziano Pelle has hit the ground running as a replacement for Rickie Lambert, fellow new boy Dusan Tadic has yet step out of Adam Lallana’s 2013/14 shadow. The latter served up 178 points in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game last year, courtesy of nine goals, nine assists and 20 bonus points, whereas Tadic – who arrived on the back of 28 goals and 29 assists in his two seasons with FC Twente – has mustered just a trio of assists so far.

With spot-kick and dead-ball duties in his favour, the Serbian playmaker certainly has the upcoming fixtures to improve. Home showdowns against Sunderland, Stoke and Leicester, allied with trips to Hull and Villa in the next five, look tailor-made for the 7.5-priced, 2%-owned midfielder to finally make an impact before the schedule takes a turn for the worse in Gameweek 13.

With that in mind, we compare Tadic’s displays to Lallana’s from last season and also cast an eye over his displays relative to this term’s main men in the midfield bracket.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Team's in the link. Options considered are:

    A: Lescott + Cesc > Baines + Chadli/Mane
    B: Lescott + Cesc > Chambers + Sanchez
C: Lescott > Chambers, bank the 2nd one.
    D: Something else

Moores never gonna play anyway and Chambers will come in soon if not this week so should be able to get by with Bertrand, Chambers and one more.

Avoiding the obvious answer of goals, I think it's a combination of being right physically for that role, being the manager's signing (Ba was arguably decent physically but was never gonna get a fair crack) and confidence.

Must admit i have not watched a single minute of Southampton this season
That Tadic must be a hell of a player though

He's quality on the ball, but his lack of pace is a real worry for me. Not that quick either, so can't see him doing much against top sides. He'll be closed down at speed.

Having watched him a few times now, he's great on the ball, on most set pieces. Owners just unlucky so far, much like Hazard not quite exploding.

Being a good player doesn't mean you end up a great FPL prospect

Evening, having one of those rare weeks where I want to play everyone. Assistance required:

        Krul, Bego
        Clyne, Bertrand, Schlupp, Baines, Moreno
        ADM, Fab, Siggy, Sterling, Downing
        Berahino, Falcao, Pelle

Tricky one, interesting team SCS. I would bench Moreno and Schlupp at the back and Downing out of the attackers.

I would maybe bench Clyne . Bertrand seems more attacking and saves you a double up. Moreno has a better fixture.

        Hey all,

        DDG,
        Cahill, Clyne, Naylor
        Di Maria, Mane, Sterling, Siggy,
        Ulloa, Welbeck, Costa
        Subs. Gilks, Chambers, Wisdom, Marney,

        6.7m to upgrade.. 1ft

        A. Aguero in for Ulloa
        B. Pelle in for Ulloa ( can upgrade mids or defence then)
        C. Save FT for another week- (Ulloa away to Newcastle)

I have seen a lot on here about jet lag and such, but I have seen it so many times before. Usually it has had little impact in team selection, is this all just scare mungering or is there some real proof to it?
Every international break there are so many theories flying about, but yet all the important players play. Are we just over analysing things a little. I predict every player from Aguero to Mane to play and the break (bar injuries) to have no effect at all. Jet lag is nothing.

Agreed, didn't Suarez fly about 8 gazillion miles and have 48 hours rest and score, like, 18 points at one stage last season?
They are top notch athletes at the height of their powers and are young and healthy.
First class with a bed is nice too.
Aguero captain for me, all day long.

It's just I've seen so much talk time after time and nothing ever really happens. Jet lag is a footballing myth. Team line ups are as usual.

Ive said it before Jet lag can be a bitch. Doesnt matter how fit you are. You mightnt be clued into the game and might be the difference between being in the right place or not. Physically should be good to go and top players wouldnt be replaced unless a team has loads of options such as Yaya being dropped at city. Overall it shouldnt matter but it may be brought up as the reason someone has an 'off' day if they underperform.

I totally agree we over analyse this to our detriment. Aguero had not played for a week despite sitting on his arse for a couple of 12 hour flights. He won't have had time to acclimatise to new time zones anyway but that is also over analysing.

They are playing spurs and unless injured he will start

A maximum of six Premier League teams could be left in the Capital One cup Round 5 to be played on the 2nd and 3rd of December.
These dates clash with GW14 which is a midweek GW. This could result in some league games being cancelled that GW and played in another GW.

9th-10th and 11th of December have Chumps League and Europa Cup games.

My personal view is it's unlikely any of those will want to play a DGW in December given the number of games already being played.
Others may want to get the DGWs out of the way asap.

And why Downing over those 2 ?

I'd say Chadli looks better value, and if he keeps his starting place (And why wouldn't he?) he looks to be a great option for a long time. That said, I would (and have) bet on Tadic outscoring him over the next 4. 3 home games, all decent fixtures + stats + penalties.

Yep agreed if it wasn't for fixtures and those 3 on paper "easy homes I'd go Chadli, but I'd be benching him this gw and potentially miss Tadic 's haul at the same time, but in 2 or 3 weeks Chadli will look better on paper fixture wise, just don't want to be too short sighted , tough one

tadic on fk and pen, chadli not likely starting vs. city.. but chadli has been playing really well and scoring so for now, chadli.

Have a feeling Pelle and Welbeck are better captain picks than Costa this week.

Costa hasn't looked sharp of late.

Only scored in 6 of the 7 games he's played in and the blank was away to City.

I really can't agree with that at all CS.

FFF closer than FPL Stats for this one.

Anthony Knockaert and Ricardo Alvarez?? People actually picked them up enough and actually held them this long that they've been dropping them enough for the price to move? Wow !

FPL Towers fantasy ghost teams. About 100,000 I reckon. All on programmed random transfers. 😉

                      Green Forster
                      Ivan Clyne Dier Wisdom Shackell
                      Sterling Fab Sigi Rodwell ADM
                      Costa Ulloa Pelle
                      1FT and 1.9m ITB

Does it make sense doing Shackell and Rodwell to Baines and Boyd this week?
Only problem i see with this is affording an upgrade in attack when i want to upgrade Ulloa as these 2 subs leave me 0.0 ITB to play around with

                      Thanks for answers and replies

What does Dier >Baines, Rodwell >Boyd leave you ? Enough for Ulloa > Welbeck ? If not Ulloa > Cisse

Think you'd be investing too much in defence there. Baines, Ivanovic, and two 5.0+ defenders is overkill in my honest opinion.

If you want to do two transfers then Ulloa to Welbeck and Shackell to Wilson will work.

Alternatively, just do Ulloa to Welbeck straight swap, play Shackell this week then replace him with a similar defender next week. No need to take a hit this week.

i like this season's price changes.

last season it was too frantic.
