The ScoutCast – Episode 143 – Yellow

Far from a tribute to Chris Martin’s middle of the road act, this week’s ScoutCast reflects on the sea of yellow flags that have flooded our Fantasy Premier League squads over the past week. You’re nobody unless you’ve collected at least four by Saturday morning.

The uncertainty caused by phantom international break injuries dominates proceedings as Granville and I mark a return to the studio. Whilst I start praying for Georgie Boyd to step up, my co-host begins his campaign to hypnotise me into getting rid of Branislav Ivanovic before he starts putting further daylight between our teams. I’m refusing to gaze into Granville’s eyes.

Elsewhere this week, we catch “Cup Fever” and resurrect the ScoutCast team. Sign up and you could soon have the pleasure of knocking Granville and I out of our own cup competition. Providing we qualify of course – that’s far from a given.

“Look at the stars” via this link or “look at how the shine for you” via the handy player below…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Embaerasingly I've not been a about much of late and I'm left with this mess...

    Baines
    Fabregas
    Adm
    Sakho
    And Err.... Bruce.

    All crocked it seems ?!

I've already done my weekly transfer. Any thoughts fellas ?

        Hmmm.

Would mean -8 to lose both (or wc)

        Not sure about that.

        What you think ?

I'd be tempted by the WC depending on what the rest of you team looks like.

          Otherwise Sakho>Austin (-4)

Lots of small issues adding up. The ideal replacement players are no necessarily affordable without a reshuffle. You potentially have only 9 players playing and that's without any unsuspecting sunrises. Even if say Fábregas does play you may face a suspension next week or thereafter.

I'd consider the following moves on a WC:

              Fábregas > Hazard
              Sakho > Austin
              Baines > Azpilicueta
              Tadic > Chadli
              Pellè > Costa
              Bruce > Yun

I'd also want Sanchez in there, but I can't see an obvious way in. Maybe him over Hazard.

            Chambers & Marney suffice

Hmm. What's your bench look like?

In other words, are you able to field 11? I reckon Fab Adm will start, so that leaves you with

      Baines Sakho Bruce out.

Baines out for 1 week max by the sound of things!!!

          Sakho just a doubt.

Bruce to Yun for long term and ride out a poor game week?! A lot of people in the same boat!

I'd probably just stick. Baines and Sakho are both good after this GW, they both seem like short-term injuries.

IMO not worth a hit since it looks like you'll be able to squeeze out 11.

I'd stay put w/ those gents coming in IMO. Fab still does have a slight chance to play, I think Sakho has the big flag.

I think a hit to replace him w/ Austin would be just. I'd be at ease w/ Marney in for Fab & Chambers in a tight game.

That may well be the case, but EVERY qpr attack goes through Austin and he's on pens. Don't think that was the case with Ulloa.

It's QPR. And Vargas is more important to them than Austin. Maybe that was harsh on him but my point stands. He's the flavor of the week.

It's really not about Hutton. Don't want to be priced out of Costa. The time to own him is now with no internationals in sight and before Chelsea get too deep into the CL.

Tough one mate, Baines is a great pick til Jan WC. Those transfers could be good for this week since Baines unlikely to play - but Baines and Sakho do have favourable fixtures til Jan.

But i've read your arguments re price and timing for Costa. My personal opinion is get Costa, but not at the expense of Baines. Sorry, not what you want to hear!

Mad to move Baines out, especially with an 8 point knock. As I said a points machine who could be out for a week. Sakho not worth the tfr. Costa on 4 yellows.Pelle move next week. ADM can go which gives you a massive choice for just -4.

Before I go to sleep, I have 2 flags as it stands w/ Marney & Duff coming in.
Should I more worried than my current state? Feel at ease having a decent two subs, but I'm keen on getting Downing for AdM/Hazard soon & don't fancy a Hammer double.

    ($0.6 ITB, No FT)

    Bego/Gilks
    Baines - Clyne - Dummet
    Alexis - Hazard - AdM - Siggy
    Aguero(C) - Pelle - Sakho

    (Marney, Duff, Wisdom)

Is Sakho --> Cholly Austin the easy answer? It would set up these moves,
    Pelle --> Costa
    AdM/Hazard --> Downing (fit)

That's my conscious speaking also, & to think I just got Sakho 2 weeks ago. It seems premature to let him go this early, surely has some form in him after the injury.

The first trannie is recommendable but not necessarily an easy one. I like his fixtures coming up, his style of play, and boy that PK duty is really tempting. However, I see him as a quick fix to some of you right until the Jan WC. Just my 2 cents.

A part of me feels he's just false promise & on the lesser team. Those pen duties do give him the edge though Nabil, I agree. Meanwhile, Carroll is irking for a spot & both play the target man great.

Still, Sakho hasn't blanked when fit & has started those 90 mins. He has shown nothing, apart from the injury, that he won't score

*Cheers for that though Nabil, this is me trying to convince myself Sakho wasn't a waste 😉

Vargas & Austin is really great duo & these fixtures are plum for them both!

With Baines and Downing almost certain to miss out and Welbeck a doubt I might do this:

Baines, Downing, Welbeck > Yun, Sanchez, Austin

For a -4 hit. Worth it, gents? 🙂

Baines 50/50 with grade 1 hamstring. Normal 10 day rest to avoid aggravation.. Playing Wolfsburg next wee which might make Martinez er to the conservative. A points machine one can hold onto for a week.

    Aguero, Welbeck, Costa,

    Advice needed please -

    Adrian
    Baines* - Bertrand - Clyne
    Sanchez - Fab* - Siggy - Tadic*
    Aguero - Costa - Sakho*

    Subs - Boyd - Hutton - Moore, 1FT, 0.1ITB

Had been planning on just swapping Moore out for Yun this week, but now considering swapping Sakho out for Austin, even though I like Sakho's fixtures coming up. What would you do this GW?

I'm just being a sceptic and slightly mocking the people who don't have any patience to stick with these chosen budget strikers for more than 2 weeks at a time. Austin could be good but he'll still go out of fashion very quickly if he has two or three blank weeks.

    Good morning all,

I wonder if I might get your view on this stick or twist conundrum ...

    I have:

    Krul

    Wilson (doubtful) Baines (doubtful) Moore

Fab (doubtful) Siggy Sanchez Tadic (doubtful)

    Aguero Costa Welbeck (doubtful)

    Bench: Eliot Boyd Hutton NTaylor

Should I sit it out and take a chance on a decent captain choice pulling me through?

Should I use my 1 FT to reduce the risk of a low turn out? If so, who to sell, who to buy?

Should I pay some pts? How far should I go?

I am around the 16k mark at the moment and it would be great not to tumble too far down the rankings this week ...

Your collective wisdom would be most welcome ....

    Thanks in advance.

Welbeck, Tadic & Wilson need replacing. Take a -4 this week in addressing Tadic & Welbeck, then another -4 the week after to sort out Wilson and any other issues.

Did a knee jerk early on and took out Fab for Oscar but with the extra tom I could get Costa still giving me 3 Chelsea players which I think is a must. The inevitable fifth yellow for Costa is my only concern.
