FFS Cup

FFS Paddy Power Cup X – Entry Still Open

As we brace ourselves for the beginning of a packed festive schedule, we’re rolling out a final heads-up on the tenth Fantasy Football Scout Cup, sponsored by Paddy Power. Free-to-enter, the qualifying round is set to take place in Gameweek 13, so if you fancy your chances of joining previous winners donnellyc, Jonty, Goonerdave, Ninja_Fit_Saints, sleeping master, Mch, Wild Rover, Tdubb05 and reigning champion Gribude in our hall of fame, read on for more details:

Seasoned veterans can click here to submit their entry. For full details of when it starts and the prizes on offer, read on…

What is the Paddy Power Cup?

The Paddy Power Cup is our version of the Fantasy Premier League’s Fantasy Cup game. Entrants who qualify for the first round will be randomly drawn against each other and the winner of the tie is whoever has the highest score from that Gameweek, minus points spent on transfers (like in the original game and in head-to-head scores). In the event of a tie, the Fantasy manager ranked highest in the overall standing will progress.

When does it start?

The qualifying round will take place in Gameweek 13 but you can enter after the Gameweek is played out. All entries received before Tuesday December 2 will be entered into the qualifying round. In this first cup competition we will have 1024 qualifiers for the first round – those 1015 (plus nine previous winners who will earn a bye if entered) with the top scores in Gameweek 13 will progress to the first round proper to be played in Gameweek 15. Again, FPL standing will decide who progresses in the event of tied positions.

How do I enter?

Simply fill out the entry form here. You will be asked to verify your FPL team ID – note that, if you fail to confirm your ID, you will not be entered. You will be sent a confirmation email to verify your entry. You can also check that you are entered via this list.

When will I find out if I’ve qualified?

Results from the qualifying round will be published on Tuesday December 2.

What is the Gameweek Schedule

Each round of the Paddy Power Cup will be played out over the following schedule:

  • Qualifying – Gameweek 13
  • Round 1 – 1024 teams – Gameweek 15
  • Round 2 – 512 teams – Gameweek 16
  • Round 3 – 256 teams – Gameweek 17
  • Round 4 – 128 teams – Gameweek 18
  • Round 5 – 64 teams – Gameweek 19
  • Round 6 – 32 teams – Gameweek 20
  • Round 7 – 16 teams – Gameweek 21
  • Quarter-Final – 8 teams – Gameweek 22
  • Semi-Finals – 4 teams – Gameweek 23
  • Final – 2 teams – Gameweek 24

When are the fixtures released?

The fixture list for each round will be published a day or two before each Gameweek deadline.

Are there prizes?

Sponsors Paddy Power are supplying the competition with some great prizes and we’re supplementing these with Amazon Vouchers. The prizes break down as follows:

Winner – £100 worth of free bets. £100 Amazon Voucher
Runner-up – £50 worth of free bets. £50 Amazon Voucher
3rd Place – £50 worth of free bets. £25 Amazon Voucher

In addition, the top scoring manager from each round will win a £25 free bet from Paddy Power on supply of their Paddy Power username.

Cup Entrants will need a Paddy Power account and be aged 18 or over to be eligible for some of the above prizes. Prizes are also subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. You can, of course, enter without being over 18 and without a Paddy Power account but will not be eligible for the free bet prizes.

Do I have to enter if I’m a previous winner?

Yes, because your FPL team ID will have changed, we will need to record you entry again. As a previous winner, you will be given a bye to the first round proper.

Do I need to be registered with Fantasy Football Scout?

We ask you to supply a FFS username so we can feature you, as a member of our community, in any articles associated with the tournament. Ideally, you will already have a username with us but this is not essential to enter – you must, however, supply a username for the purpose of the tournament so you can be identified in articles. You must not change this username throughout the course of the tournament, should you do so without permission, or should you enter multiple teams or if your FFS account comes under moderation for any reason, we reserve the right to remove you from the tournament.

Baines dealing with a hammy in the leadup to the busiest period of the season. Chelsea could see a shuffle at the back here and there as well over the holidays. Premium defenders looking a very poor bet at the moment. Only Coleman stands out for me.

    Discuss.

Don't think Chelsea will rotate too much. He can play a weakened team in the COC and UCL and save his best back 4 for the league.

Four plum fixtures in a row in the league. Spells rotation.

If Baines was touch-and-go last gameweek there's a decent chance he's ready for the weekend. But yes Coleman's a good alternative - I have them both. 🙂

I went JT on the less likely to rotate being of international duty. Price you have to pay for the likely clean sheet and some potential at the other end. Bench can cover one missed game I hope..

He's the fittest he's ever been in the PL, don't see this as unlikely but even if he does get injured he will probably play the most minutes he's ever played in the PL. He also scored a hattie against Bayern, has to be a season keeper, if fit of course!

On the topic of fitness and season keepers, I kept Costa when he was out purely because I would lose so much value if I shipped him. Its now the same for Kun, I got him at 12.0 and so if I ship him I won't be able to get him back. Unless Costa and Kun and going to be out for about five weeks so that I can buy back, they will be in my team all season.

Burnley and Hull rotation from this weekend, all the way to GW28, which is the beginning of March:

    AVL/NEW/WBA/SOU/SWA/sun/LEI/EVE/QPR/CPL/NEW/WBA/AVL/QPR/SWA/SUN

Brady/Boyd perhaps, but I think midfield spots are too valuable for that. I'm eyeing up Trippier/Robertson, two of the most attacking full backs in the league, could work really nicely. Both teams are a lot tighter at home, as well.

Btw, check out SOU/BUR rotation. Duff is a perfect foil if you want to keep Clyne, unless you use SWA and WBA in tandem to cover for him

Brady/Boyd or Brady/Arfield could work. Midfield rotation doesn't need to be perfect - this is a good find for a defensive pairing though.

Why I think there are 30 teams in the league is beyond me.
          Correct the SiB to:
          *18th & 19th
          *17 & 18th

    Which one do you prefer?

    A) Hazard - Terry - Ings
    B) Ox - Caulker - Costa

Nah, i don't want a useless 8th forward, and costa isn't all that with his 4YC's and resting risk in the busy schedule

Thanks all. I think everyone is pretty unanimous that Hazard-Ings-Terry are the best replacements for Tadic - Pelle -Chambers

I finally need to get rid of naismith. The obvious guy I need is costa but I have aguero and I am ready to punt on a differential.

    Option 1 - Naismith + ADM -> Bony + Eriksen + 0.4M
    Option 2 - Naismith + ADM -> Rooney + Bolasie + 0.7M
Option 3 - Naismith -> someone at 6.5 who is not Austin

    Cheers

3 - Berahino? Fixtures get better after Arse, and don't want to loose ADM

I think I may do Krul to Foster. Krul may not play and has only three good fixtures in the next ten, whereas Foster has six good fixtures in the next ten. Also Newcastle have other defensive injuries. Any other opinions?

Do it. Foster has good fixtures . I have both , but as a stand alone prefer Foster

Guzan an option at the price , but not convinced ie if you have Hutton

I can't afford Guzan but I will do the move just because of better fixtures and Foster has more saves and both teams have similar defensive stats

I think I will wait for news on Chadli

if he's out long term I'll keep this week then use my 2 FTs to sell Chadli and Cameron for Brady and Baines and keep Clyne

If's he out for 1 week I'll still save but I'll sell Clyne and Cameron for Brady and Hutton

    Not that anyone cares

    Krul (Mannone)
    Clyne Ivanovic Dummet Yun (Wisdom)
Sanchez Di Maria Oscar (JWP) (Boyd)
    Aguero (VC) Costa (C) Austin

What do you think of this team for the next gameweek?

    - if Krul is out, is it worth taking -4 to replace him?

    1. rickardinho

I don't think its worth -4. I have bego and krul (both injured right now, meh)

You have 3FT's and 2.1itb to replace Chambers-Tadic-Pelle - which players do you pick?

    Begovic Krul
    Baines Clyne Naylor Chambers Wisdom
    Sanchez Siggy Downing Oscar Tadic
    Aguero Austin Pelle

Terry-Hazard-Ings(+0.4) is my favourite option right now, but is there something better?

How does Sakho--> Kane and Mannone--> Fabianski sound?

Seems like Kane is preferred up top, and with Krul a doubt I need to get rid of Mannone.

Let me know if you have a better plan 🙂

with chadli fit soon kane might get dropped again... I had a long debate with TFF a couple of days ago about Kane vs Ings that you might be able to dig up in his or my post history. I prefer Ings, he prefers Kane.

Current WC team, £8.9 spare, needs improved.

    Fabianski (Jakupovic)
    ???- Azpilicueta - Clyne - Cameron (Wisdom)
Di Maria - Oscar - Sanchez (???, Albrighton)
    Aguero - Costa - Austin

    Thanks.

At this point you might as well sell Clyne and try yo get Baines in there.

How key is Aguero to a wildcard? He costs a huge amount and could mean I have a weak side.
