The ScoutCast – Episode 148 – Harried

Granville and I make a New Year return to the ScoutCast studio, battered and bruised by the events of Gameweek 20 which saw us both inexplicably bench Harry Kane and his 18-point haul.

Having wasted our big differential and haunted by constant reminders, my co-host and I struggle to make a recovery. Spitting the pips from our sour grapes, we do our best to justify our doomed decision-making, before attempting to salve the wounds with talk of the Winter Wildcard refresh around the usual batch of regulars.

Feel the frustration via this link or swallow the bitter pill via the handy player belowโ€ฆ

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Morning, lads! Not sure how to play these 2 FT pre-WC with so many options. Plan to WC in 2 weeks
    Guzman
    Cahill | Baines | Wisdom
    Hazard | Sanchez | Silva | Sigurdsson
    Costa | Kane | Austin

    Myhill | Downing | N. Taylor | Dummett @ 2 FT and 0.8m ITB

    A) Baines + Austin --> Trippier + Giroud
    B) Downing + Auatin --> Boyd + Giroud
    C) Baines --> Trippier and save 1 FT

Well it's between Burnley and Tottenham for the next 2 weeks and am slightly leaning towards Burnley. My mind can be changed though ๐Ÿ˜‰

Thanks! Planning to ditch Downing in the WC anyway so that's my thinking behind option B. Not convinced by it though to be honest!

Even Ryan Mason, Tom Caroll play FPL.

There´s nothing illogical about it if you chose correctly last week. He´s not likely to falter twice...could he? Of course. But labelling passive-aggressively people who fear getting burnt as casuals seems a bit naive for a casual accuser...no pun intended...

First off I didnt label them people as casuals. Secondlý that part was a joke. Thirdly, he's not likely to falter twice? Why not? A player doesnt score in a match means he has a better chance to score the next? Football doesnt work like that.

In the run of games, I mean there is a reason we would put our faith in a player...sometimes it´s for that week, sometimes it for longer, but we really would like for them to score...ya know?

Again, the point of mentioning the term, ¨passive-aggressive¨ is for people like you. Whoo actually has a rival as a casual...? I would argue that casuals don´t smell fear...they don´t smell anything, because they are too casual to grip the gravity of situations...hence oblivious to the obvious, especially to their opponent...let alone that said opponent´s fear.

Obviously I don´t think football is that sort of formula. I look at a tremendous amount of factors...if not what would be the point of a membership?? Trust me smart guy I know football doesn´t work like that. Thanks for your tutelage...

Probably Siggy. Playing against a better side and without Bony to feed. Austin plays up front and def on pens. Another one that could easily backfire thoigh. Siggys form is pretty good.

Benching a Striker (be it from a dodgy team or not) is not easier...did that last week and dodged a bullet. But if last week´s Newcastle can put up 3 goals against Burnley...there´s no way I´ll bench him again. Besides, Silva is a wall hitter...no Yaya, two other midgets with him in the midfield. No way Everton allow them more than a goal or two. I´d feel safer with below the radar players like Milner, Fatty or Jovetic.

Silva is sitting his lil ass down for me...

I see your logic too, I just think there way too many options, and room for too many people (ie; Nasri etc) to go on personal missions now that Yaya is not in the engine room.

I'm thinking of Yaya to ADM but I don't expect many goals in United v Soton.

Should I do Yaya -> Chadli instead, even though I have Kane. Or Yaya to Fab even though I have Haz?

WC next week, most likely. Cheers.

One of the tougher decisions I'm gonna have to make this season is who to make way for Aguero...
          A Rooney
          B Costa

Thinking out loud. When Walcott and Ozil are fit, Arsenal attack will probably be Sanchez and Walcott on the wings with Ozil and Giroud in the middle. That is scary good on paper! 4th place guaranteed as usual! ๐Ÿ˜€

You might think so. But Cazorla and Oxlade are also in good form and want places.

Sanchez-Ozil-Walcott-Cazorla-Oxlade. 5 players for 3 spots and Arsenal are still in the PL and FA Cup. There will be rotation, Walcott will be phased in gently and is not guaranteed to start even when fully fit.

Dont be surprised...hes a stubborn old man. I think he thought it was a fitness regimen (putting him out on the wing) for Ozil, but he has not realised that the kid probably smokes about a half a pack of cigs on a weekend...

Cazorla can not be removed from that line-up...a diamond is the only thing I can see helping Ozil.

This q was asked on the previous page:

Question for members, does anyone know how rate my team works in terms of benching players and captains? For example, Sanchez has a higher predicted score than Haz this week, but RMT still tells me to captain Haz. Similarly, Hutton has a higher predicted score than Chambers, but it suggests playing Chambers over Hutton.

My answer: I think it is to do with the % of starting the match/ playing 0 mins.

They think there's a chance chambers plays 0 mins, which reduces his predicted score overall, but if so your bench player will come on for him. Of course the risk is a cameo so not sure I agree with RMT.

As for Sanchez v Haz, that one is weird... Surely both are nailed on to start.

Sanchez could start from the bench against Stoke. Wenger does like to rest redlining players against Stoke. But that was historically with a Ramsey or a Walcott. Not Sanchez...a different beast and fitness altogether.

This. He is more at risk of getting less minutes than Hazard. With the RMT scores so close it makes sense to be conservative and pick Hazard as captain
