Monitor – Charlie Austin

In a season where a number of budget forwards have more than held their own with premium-priced alternatives, QPR’s Charlie Austin has arguably been the pick of the bunch. Still kindly priced at 6.5 in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, he sits second amongst strikers on 109 points, sandwiched in between big-hitting pair Diego Costa and Sergio Aguero on the back of 13 goals and a trio of assists in just 20 top-flight appearances.

Over the last four Gameweeks, however, Austin’s Fantasy returns have afforded his owners cause for concern. The R’s top scorer has struck just once from Gameweek 19 onwards – compared to five strikes in his previous four appearances – and with plenty of similarly priced options jostling for our attentions, we delve into the data to assess Austin’s recent displays, comparing them to both his previous performances and fellow forwards alike.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Thoughts on the WC team boys?

    Forster, Given
    Terry, Wisdom, Wollscheid, PVA, Hutton
    Haz, Caz, ADM, Punch, Elia
    Aguero, Costa, Defoe

    i know, its missing Sanchez...

I'd have a Saints defender. Elia will be rotated. You have a Sunderland striker....
      Otherwise good.

thanks - got Forster - does that count??

struggling to fit a Saints defender.

i know what you mean by Elia but going for a punt.

Fancy Defoe to score pretty regularly - think Kane may go through a quiet spell!

Sorry missed Forster. I agree on the Kane front so I might avoid him too but its high ownership that worries me. Good luck with Defoe.

Defo find a way of getting Sanchez as i honestly cant see a way of covering his points unless u have both Cazorla and Giroud

i know - its the one big hole as i see it...but think he will be more on the wing now with everyone else coming back?

also - saving that 3m gives so much more balance to the rest of the side.

having said that - any ideas how to get him in???

Good teams never go looking for blame. If you are good enough, these factors do not come into play.

Problem is, Utd are kak and if you can not recognise that, the problem is even harder to overcome.

As underlined by their league position. The teams below them must be god awful. Right?

If you're enough better than the opponent, that is. Just being good is not enough. Say, you're very very good, but also playing a decent, almost as good opponent. A couple of bad decisions can change the course of the game badly enough.

And even when the difference of level is great, it is also a fact that a potato field for the pitch will even up that difference a lot. And the better team often also has to fear for injuries in that case.

Would you keep that team this week?

I always planned to save. I know I have a decent team currently so not really in a rush. I just got bored and had a tinker around and liked what I came up with. However, I am sure things will change again after this next gameweek.

Personally i dont trust the Man City defense enough, they havent been able to keep CS all season and Bellerin with that whos not nailed as far as we all know with it relies on Ivan Jones Baird back 3....

Midfield and attack id consider swapping Cazorla and one of Austin/Kane to Giroud and a cheaper Mid

You might be right about Cazorla. I would like to go with a Austin, Costa and Aguero strike force but it puts compromises elsewhere. Giroud is another good option. Hmm...I think I might hold.

on WC I mean..I bought Elia Berty Defoe trying to increase tv , actually wanted moses pva giroud , concerned whether double rise of former will happen before single rise of latter .

Keep track of price fluctuation. Defoe probably wont rise, Bertrand and Elia will rise.

I thought so , but if a player could drop on -33 while those above him didn't , I'm not sure if the price fluctuation is still reliable .

No. City have scored a total of 2 goals in their last 4 PL games at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea have conceded 3 PL goals at home all season.

The game could go crazy of course but a low scoring game is much more likely.

Wait. Would prefer Bellerin over Hutton and Caz/Sterling over ADM tho.

    WC draft... 343 formation

    Pants Foster
    Clichy Wollscheid PVA Wisdom Bellerin
    Sanchez Fab Cazorla Oscar JWP
    Costa Aguero Bojan

Defence to be rotated for the next 8 weeks as Sun, Sto and WBA have good fixtures, JWP 5th mid.

    Comments appreciated.

Looks good. Would be way of rotating Sunferland home and away since they seem to get more clean sheets away. Like the look of Bojan recently but don't think he will score enough goals despite the nice fixtures. Love the mids

Sussex County League Division Two side Seaford Town, the only team in the top 10 tiers of English football to score fewer goals than Aston Villa, have challenged the Premier League outfit to a match to decide the most boring team in the country. 😀

      For me it's

CHE def (Terry) Sth def (Clyne)
Hazard Sanchez - Prob Cazorla too now given Wenger comments
Costa - KUN only due to potential but daren't go without him

Sanchez' form at the Emirates speaks for itself imo. He can do plenty damage coming off the left.

Caz or Giroud certainly aren't bad picks though
