Injuries

The Treatment Table – Gameweek 23

Our post-Gameweek look at the new injuries sustained over the weekend brings worrying news for Sam Allardyce as a trio of Hammers players limped off at Liverpool. Brendan Rodgers eases fears over his captain’s weekend absence, though Stoke have concerns over Ryan Shawcross once again.

Chelsea
Willian was replaced on 79 minutes of last night’s draw with City at Stamford Bridge after picking up an injury, according to the club’s official website.

Crystal Palace
In his first appearance since Gameweek 16, Marouane Chamakh lasted just 24 minutes before being forced off in Palace’s home loss to Everton with a suspected broken nose. Alan Pardew remains optimistic that the Moroccan will be back in time for next week’s trip to the King Power Stadium:

”The loss of Cham was crucial today, his guile and experience around the box would have been important. He’s got a broken nose we fear, so fingers crossed he doesn’t get my cold. He wasn’t concussed, but it was a heavy blow to the nose. But I think he’ll be okay for Leicester.”

Liverpool
Brendan Rodgers allayed fears over Steven Gerrard’s absence from yesterday’s win overWest Ham, with the Reds skipper expected to return for the midweek FA Cup replay against Bolton:

“It was just precautionary, really. After the game the other night, his hamstring was tight. We’ve got a lot of games over the coming months, so we didn’t want to risk it when we have other players that are fresh.”

Southampton
Lloyd Isgrove was a late withdrawal from the Saints squad that lost to Swansea today, meaning Ronald Koeman could only name six subs in the 1-0 defeat.

Stoke
The Potters skipper Ryan Shawcross lasted just 41 minutes of the 3-1 win over QPR before being forced off through injury.

Sunderland
Wes Brown missed the Black Cats’ 2-0 win over Burnley on Saturday after failing to prove his fitness upon returning to training, confirmed Black Cats boss Gus Poyet:

“Wes trained for a couple of days and it is nothing serious, so it is just about making sure he is 100% so that when we throw him in he is ready because I can tell you that it is very hard. It is great for us because we now have a big squad and I can refresh the team if I need to, but of course the ones that performed at 3pm against Burnley will have a better chance next week.”

Swansea
Marvin Emnes lasted just 15 minutes of this afternoon’s trip to Southampton before being withdrawn due to injury. Garry Monk has further worries on the flank after Emnes’ replacement Mo Barrow was stretchered off towards the end of the 1-0 win. Leon Britton missed today’s clash due to illness, according to the club’s official website.

West Ham
Sam Allardyce is counting the cost of yesterday’s loss to Liverpool after a trio of players were forced off through injury at Anfield. The Hammers boss saw centre-halves James Collins and Winston Reid both limp off with hamstring injuries, whilst Andy Carroll picked up a knew problem in the 2-0 defeat. Post-match, Allardyce rolled out an update:

Those three coming off has thrown us into a major crisis at the minute injury-wise and you can’t expect to come to a place like Liverpool and win when those things go against you. In all fairness to Ginge, because of the injuries we had in defence [in the build-up] he tried to come in and get through this game himself, but his hamstring injury had obviously re-occurred by half-time.

Allardyce also confirmed that midfielder Cheick Kouyate missed out after returning from international duties with Senegal nursing a back injury.

    Foster/Myhill
    Hutton/Trippier/Terry/PVA/ Wali
    Hazard/ADM/Puncheon/Boyd/Sanchez
    Aguero/Kane/ Giroud

1FT 4.1m ITB (Trippier to Alderw next week)

    A. Puncheon to Silva
    B. Boyd to Carzola (would do next week)
    C Someting else

B makes so much sense but 3 attackers from Ars still feels like overload and A gives it more balance.

    Any thoughts appreciated.

Tricky situation for your team. Silva has golden fixture this week, but then you could be too late for santi party.

Not quite sure myself, so I could use some help. In which order of preference would you play these defenders?

Thanks guys! I agree that Wolly should probably be the last one, but difficult to decide between Kos and PVA.

      Kos
+ Arsenal have kept 3 CS in a row in PL
+ Great team form otherwise too
      + Some goal threat
      - North London Derby, usually high-scoring? Kane and Eriksen in-form...

      PVA
+ Sunderland have been in good form when it comes to keeping CSs
+ PVA has attacking threat and is allowed to push forward
+ Swansea's attack not impressive, Siggy missing
      - It's still Sunderland playing away...

Haha I feel your pain! Our boy spent a precautionary night in hospital with bronchialitus just 2 months after starting nursery last year, it was just one thing after the other for all of us. It doesn't last long though, your immune system gets nice and beefed up very quickly.

    Hey Team

Who will be a regular starter in the Gunners defence to swap for Bert?

    A.) Monreal
    B.) Bellerin
    C.) Neither. Steer Clear.

    Cheers!

Bellerin should be starting for now but I wouldn't call him nailed. Still a good option though if your 4 other defenders are starters.

Thanks dudes. haven't really got my head around the whole price fluctuation thing. Won't Bert's value drop now he's out for 3?

    Robles krul

Özil to a cheaper 5th mid. Saves from benching problems. And I would pick different GKs.

      Interesting team though!

If I let go of ozil ..
I could get ospina for Robles

But removing ozil to whom is the question ..

Could get Elia or Walters and then beef up the defence

That's what I would do, Özil to some cheaper 5th that you're still comfortable playing, especially GW27 when you have players missing. Stoke have Hull at home then...

Wouldnt have both ozil and cazorla. Maybe get Eriksen for Ozil.

    Guys, really need your help.

Last GW I forgot to set my team, fortunately Kane (C) saved me. But still I dropped 15K from before.
    PVA on bench burned me.

    My team is :
    Pants Harner
    Terry Clyne PVA Wisdom Hutton
Hazard Sanchez (inj) Fab (inj) ADM Boyd
    Kun Kane Austin

    FT 1 , ITB : 1.1 Mil

    What should I do :
    a. Fab -> Caz
    b. Fab -> Eriksen
    c. Option A or B and upgrade Austin to Giroud for (-4)
    d. Option A or B but downgrade Sanchez instead of Fab
    e. Save and wait and see

    Really appreciate your feedbacks folks.

      Or Fab to Sterling.

He looks good and with Sturridge back he will get better partner up top.

But his fixtures is not that great.

      Thank you.

A and then get Eriksen for the DGW

  25. Eze Really?
    • 9 Years
    9 years, 3 months ago

    Panti/Heaton
    Van AAn/Lescott/Kosi. Bertrand Terry
    Haz ADM Walters Sanchez JWP
    Giroud Kane Aguero

3 out GW27 Bertrand back by then. Save 2 FT's to get Spurs and Chelsea players.
    Wooried about Sanchez

    A necessity yo change?

Didn't see the incident but any chance Bertie will appeal and be successful?

None whatsoever. It was clearly deliberate, and occurred after three other incidents, including a near fight.

If they appeal, he will get AT LEAST one extra game.

Smashed out 116 this week and creaping close to top 1k.
Was hoping for a transfer free week but with Bertrand's red and potential 0.2 price drop by the time he's back, who's the best option for a replacement? Price not an option but I've 2.6M in the bank and looking at doing ADM and Giroud to Sterling and Costa in 2 weeks

    Foster (Pantimillion)

    Sanchez Hazard Silva Cazorla (Boyd)
    Aguero Giroud Kane

    0.1m ITB.

About the same, at 80%, I believe. I will have one of them for certain, probably Bellerin.
