The Weekend Team News

Jack Wilshere is sidelined for the Gunners after undergoing minor ankle surgery. Carlton Cole is out of the Hammers’ home clash with Crystal Palace, who are without a trio of forwards through injury. Daryl Janmaat has been passed fit for Newcastle. Toby Alderweireld remains unavailable with a hamstring problem, Alan Hutton and Aly Cissokho are doubts for Villa, whilst West Brom are sweating over the fitness of Saido Berahino and James Morrison.

In his Friday morning press conference, Arsene Wenger has revealed that Jack Wilshere will be sidelined for a few days after undergoing minor ankle surgery. Aaron Ramsey and Mathieu Flamini will return to training tomorrow but Sunday’s clash with Everton will come too soon for the duo. Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Debuchy are still “a few weeks away” from returning.

Sam Allardyce has confirmed that Carlton Cole is out of the weekend meeting with Palace, after the forward limped out of the Spurs clash with a hamstring injury. Allardyce has also confirmed that new signing Nene is likely to be amongst the substitutes this weekend.

Crystal Palace face a striker shortage ahead of their meeting with the Hammers, after Alan Pardew confirmed that Frazier Campbell, Marouane Chamakh and Yaya Sanogo will all miss out with injury. In more positive news, midfielder James McArthur has been passed fit after missing last week with a thigh problem.

Newcastle boss John Carver will have Daryl Janmaat available for the visit of Aston Villa, after the right-back was passed fit having overcome a groin problem. Meanwhile, Remy Cabella remains sidelined with a knee injury. Midfielder Cheick Tiote has also been ruled out for the rest of the season after undergoing knee surgery.

Toby Alderweireld remains sidelined for the trip to the Hawthorns, confirms Ronald Koeman, who believes the Belgian could return to action against Palace in midweek. Aside from Jay Rodriguez and Emmanuel Mayuka, Koeman has no other absentees for the Baggies clash.

West Brom are sweating over the fitness of James Morrison against the Saints, with the midfielder picking up a hamstring niggle during the week. Saido Berahino is also a concern and will be closely monitored after suffering a knock in the stalemate with Sunderland last week. Tony Pulis also suggests that Victor Anichebe could possibly return from a groin injury this week after rejoining training.

Tim Sherwood faces a full-back crisis ahead of the trip to St James’s Park after confirming that Alan Hutton and Aly Cissokho are both doubtful to face the Magpies, with Hutton rated as “touch and go”. Kieran Richardson has also been ruled out through injury, while Swiss defender Philippe Senderos is also unlikely to feature.

Black Cats boss Gus Poyet will again be without Jack Rodwell and Billy Jones through injury, with neither being risked for the weekend. The pair however, could be fit to return for the Hull game in midweek.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream as breaking news unfolds.

How nailed is Dawson? Need to make similar sub, Hutton to Dawson or Naughton. Was thinking Naughton cos he is cheaper so I get .1 back into bnk and he is pretty much nailed on

In upgrading PVA to Dawson, I was limiting my Albrighton replacements options to 4.8m and looking at Robbie Brady.

If I don't do the PVA transfer, I now have 5m, but I think Robbie Brady may still be the best bet. Decent games short term, secure place it seems, and on set pieces.

Anyone else fancy anyone else for 5m? Seems a lot for my 5th midfielder, with Ki/Boyd/Jedinak as options. Just noticed Jedinak hasn't come straight back in - how come?

It's a funny one. Looks like Poyet needed more height v WBA, hence the benching. I've been waiting as long as I can before removing him, just because his games coming up are so good.

Don't like Brady option but there's not much in that bracket.

Ki is probably the safest option or Boyd. I punted on Gil last week but he didn't complete 90. Maybe Delph could be an alternative.

Unlikely to be much difference in scores though.

Jedi will be back in soon, probably just needed a rest after Asia cup - Ledley likely to drop out

Jedinak has been hampered by niggles since the Asia Cup. CRY will be short up front this week, so the chances of Jed playing look good.

Ireland of STK also looks good at home vs Hull - at 4.7m, the price is nice.

    Panti/ Foster

    Mcauley, Dawson, PVA, Alderweiled, O'Shea

Hazard, Boyd, Sanchez, Di Maria, Silva

    N'doye, Aguero, Kane

Original plan is save transfer this week and get Austin and Eriksen next week. Any opinions??

Couple of quick questions from me for this gameweek! Would you prefer, for this week only, to double up on:

    A) West Brom defense
    B) Stoke defense

And which pair would you prefer for this week:

    C) Rooney & Dawson/Wollscheid
    D) Sakho & Clyne

Selling for Silva. I'd like to captain him really but if he's on the bench again I'd be very cross with myself. Time to ditch and move on I think.

I'll be gutted if he starts and gets a haul. Thing is, I've gone against the crowd and made that gamble once, to do it again would be a tad stupid I think. I'm trusting in the team news section. It's not always right but it's better than me.

Yeah, it will be painful if he starts and scores. It will be equally painful if he's benched and we've kept him for another week like idiots though. Silva's ownership is scary too. I'm actually slightly tempted by Nasri over Silva though...

    Panti
    Dawson Baird PVA Clyne

    Kun Giroud
    (Hamer Terry Haz Kane)

0FT and 0.5 ITB. Probably only 8 players likely to start, maybe 9 if I get lucky with JWP or PVA.

    a) No hits, keep as it is
    b) JWP > Moses/Walters

    d) Baird > 4.4 or under (although can't see any options who might actually make a -4 worthwhile)

Guys, English teams' woeful performances in Europe put the week 34 DGW treasure trove in doubt.

We could well see a Chelsea DGW in 34 followed by a Man U & Liverpool DGW in 35 or 36 rather than it all being in the same week.

We need 3 of City, Chelsea, Arsenal & Everton to progress to the quarter finals of their respective competitions to ensure weeks 32, 35 and 36 are out of the question and make week 34 the only possible DGW.

tl;dr: Future DGWs are still in the air.

UEFA would prefer no midweek games in CL weeks, even if all the English teams were out. Pretty sure it's in their contract; although UEFA can make exceptions, they don't have to.

this is correct as far as I am aware. doesn't matter if there's any english teams or not, no fixtures can clash with CL.

GW34 and maybe GW37 (if United beat Arsenal in FA Cup) looking like the probably DGW

So true, and Kane(C). And if you go against the grain and fail, you could get buried.

Picking the right (C) this week could make a big difference - there aren't any real clear cut options that have form and fixture in their favor. Just about any choice is a differential.

I also have Baird and he played 18 mins last GW - 1 point, he replaced Morrison

I never watched the game, do you perhaps know why he was subbed in - tactical?

no reason actually but I don't think we should count on him playing

I'm counting on him getting a point rather than shifting for -4

I'm in a similar position. Perhaps just tidy up that defence and roll over the other free. Wisdom out, maybe for another West Brom defender or maybe Stoke?

Thanks, I was thinking of solely replacing wisdom atm as both JWP and Baird got 1 p each last week which means they could do it again this week (every little point counts haha)

Ship em this week. No DGW player worth playing only 9 or 10 this week

yeah but the effect is pretty much taking a hit for a JWP/Baird replacement as it means having to take hit later on to fix other problems and Im not sure I see any players justifying that this gw

WHo are you planning on bringing in next week that will force a hit? ONly one I can see being worth bringing in is Eriksen. Are you getting Austin for Defoe maybe too?

Im thinking of doing a bit of shuffling so that I can get a proper striker instead of the likes of defoe or austin but rather giroud or costa which needs me to do 4-5 transfers prior to gw 30

Fair enough. Well in that case not worth wasting your 2nd transfer on a 5th defender

Still snapping away in the FF Cup any changes needed with this lot:

    Foster
    Clichy Bellerin Bertrand
    Silva ADM Siggy Walters Sanchez
    Rooney Aguero

    Panti PVA Terry Kane

Anything worth a hit or stay as is?

Keep the transfer so you can get 2 spurs players next week without the -4. you're current team looks good for this week.

Yes he's gone to a better place. Don't worry he'll be back in 2 weeks....Sold for 10.5 and should drop by 0.1 by deadline...hopefully 😀

I do not get any of the Cisse love at all. The guy can't even last 90 minutes and gets his goals from sub appearances!

His goals per min ratio is outstanding. When he plays he is scoring

That's the point - his goals are coming from sub appearances. Huge punt if you ask me unless you have a FT to burn.

He just seems to score a lot, which is really all that matters. He consistently scores despite limited minutes. Good opponent, too.

I'm considering a one week minus 4 punt from Defoe to either Sakho, Cisse or Ings myself. Probably too aggressive, but all 3 are better cheap forwards than what I've got. I should probably just hold and then swap Defoe to Austin for the QPR DGW.

Hold and swap for Austin. Who's to say Defoe won't score vs United... I wouldn't be too surprised.

I think United's defence is up there with the best of them (overall including De Gea), it just had a few wobbles at the start but it is set in peoples minds that they need a new centre back but their stats tell a different story. I think they just have to find the right combo in attack...they are still doing pretty well overall anyway. Maybe they aren't the best pick for defence without Carrick and rely too much on De Gea.

Is Cisse back? He has a fairly decent run. Team news seems to suggest he will start and he has only been playing less due to an injury am I right?
