FFS Paddy Power Cups – A Reminder

Having announced a couple of new cup competitions last week, we thought we’d give you another heads-up as next Wednesday’s deadline edges closer. Not only do we have the eleventh instalment of our open-to-all cup competition, as sponsored by Paddy Power, we also have the Fantasy Football Scout Members Cup V up and running over the season run-in.

If you’re familiar with our competitions you can get your entries in right now via the links below. If you’re new to all this, read on for an FAQ on the competitions.

Enter the Paddy Power XI Cup via the entry form here.

Members can also enter the Members Cup V via this entry form.

Are there prizes?

As mentioned, Paddy are supplying the competition with some great prizes and, once again, we’re supplementing these with Amazon Vouchers. The prizes break down for the Fantasy Football Scout Cup XI is as follows:

Winner – £100 worth of free bets. £100 Amazon Voucher
Runner-up – £50 worth of free bets. £50 Amazon Voucher
3rd Place – £50 worth of free bets. £25 Amazon Voucher

In addition, the top scoring manager from each round will win a £25 free bet from Paddy Power on supply of their Paddy Power username.

For the Fantasy Football Scout Members Cup V, the prizes are:

Winner – £200 Amazon voucher.
Runner-up – £100 Amazon voucher

How do the cup competitions work?

Our cup competitions are very similar to the Fantasy Premier League’s Fantasy Cup game. Entrants who qualify for the first round will be randomly drawn against each other and the winner of the tie is whoever has the highest score from that Gameweek, minus points spent on transfers (like in the original game and in head-to-head scores). In the event of a tie, the manager highest in the overall standings will progress.

When do they start?

The qualifying rounds for both cups will take place in Gameweek 28, with the first rounds running on Gameweek 29.

Fantasy managers can enter their teams from now right up to Wednesday March 11, when we’ll stop entry and will be drawing the first round ties from the qualifiers.

There will be 512 qualifiers for the members cup and 1024 for the Paddy Power Cup XI – depending on the number of entries. All our previous winners gain a bye into the first round draw where they will join the top scorers from Gameweek 28.

FPL standing will decide who progresses in the event of tied positions. The same rules apply in the Members Cup

How do I enter?

Enter the Paddy Power XI Cup via the entry form here.

Members can also enter the Members Cup V via this entry form.

In both cases you will be sent a confirmation email to verify your entry and you’ll be asked to confirm your FPL team id at the point of entry – please be sure to click the link to verify that your team is correct before confirming.

To check that you’re entered correctly, please scan the list of current entries.

The Paddy Power Cup XI entry list can be found here.

The Members Cup entry list can be found here.

When will I find out if I’ve qualified?

Results from the qualifying rounds of both cups will be published on or around March 11 and then weekly from that point on.

What is the Gameweek Schedule?

These Cup competitions will be played out according to the following Gameweek schedule:

Do I have to enter if I’m previous winner?

Yes, because your FPL team ID will have changed, we will need to record you entry again. As a previous winner, you will be given a bye to the first round proper.

Do I need to be registered with Fantasy Football Scout?

We ask you to supply a FFScout username so we can feature you, as a member of our community, in any articles associated with the tournament. Ideally, you will already have a username with us but this is not essential to enter (although it is for the Members Cup) – you must, however, supply a username for the purpose of the tournament so you can be identified in articles. You must not change this username throughout the course of the tournament, should you do so without permission, or should you enter multiple teams or if your FFS account comes under moderation for any reason, we reserve the right to remove you from a tournament.

More and more Southampton to Terry/Ivan questions at the minute.

Purely for the double or something more? Southampton have pretty decent fixtures after Chelsea.

Hmmmm.... I have Bertrand and Clyne with no Chelsea defensive cover. Might go for Clyne -> Ivanovic and Eriksen -> Mane.

Yeah fair enough. I'd be more thinking doubling on Southampton than getting rid of CLyne.

My only other option is get rid of Kos over Berty but that doesn't help me much this week

Dropped to 15k with a template team, bar no Silva, what's the best strategy to finish top 1k?

Start going with some low ownership players, certainly sticking with the template isn't going to get me 1k?

    1. LOCO ABREU
      • 12 Years

go template, punt with your 4ºmid,1/2 defenders, maybe 3ºstriker

      • 11 Years
      9 years, 1 month ago

You'll need a lot of differentials because the point gap is a lot now but you'll either finish inside top 1-3k or outside the top 50k with this strategy

Hey Sunny, thinking of going Austin/Sanchez this week with the armband what's your thoughts?

        1. Sunny 😎
          • 11 Years
          9 years, 1 month ago

Most will be going with Aguero I guess but his stats for the last couple of games haven't been impressive and with Barca coming up, I think he'll be hauled off early.

Austin is definitely the one to look at. Was so close to getting a huge haul against Spurs and Palace defence isn't great. I would have gone with him if I had him. I might get in Studge and give him the armband though.

So obviously Kun,Sanchez and Hazard are the prime candidates for captaincy next GW. I think Kun is the best choice. He might get only 60-70 mins to be rested for CL game but that was enough the last time for him to get a goal and an assist. What we know is that he will stay on the pitch until the game is won and you'd think he will be involved in the goals for sure especially that he performs better away from home. Also City won't have it easy every time like their 5-0 win the last time. We won't see Nasri,Silva and Dzeko outscore him every time.

Sanchez is not exactly in form and he has a CL game 2 days later also. He might also get 60-70 mins especially with the depth of Arsenal's squad. Hazard is a good pick but Soton will be a tough nut to crack.
