Suspensions

The Suspension Tightrope – Gameweek 29

With only a handful of sides involved in Premier League and FA Cup action since our last update, there’s been little movement among those players toeing the line on the Suspension Tightrope. It’s as you were at the summit, with Neil Taylor, Phil Bardsley, Cesc Fabregas, Ciaran Clark and Sebastian Larsson teetering just one booking away from a two-match suspension.

By virtue of Gabriel Agbonlahor’s caution in Aston Villa’s Fa Cup win over rivals West Brom, the Villains are now the most represented club in the eight-yellows-or-above bracket – a cause for concern for manager Tim Sherwood, who’s already contending with a raft of injuries and suspensions.

Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo picked up his fourth caution in seven starts against Newcastle, moving up to the eight-yellow mark. The Red Devils can ill afford to lose another member of their rearguard in the wake of Jonny Evans’ suspension, so the Argentine will have to stay out of trouble for four Gameweeks before the slate is wiped clean on 14 April.

In terms of newly-suspended players, Jack Grealish misses Villa’s Gameweek 29 encounter against Sunderland after he picked up two quick yellows as a late substitute against West Brom. Meanwhile, Baggies midfielder Claudio Yacob committed two bookable offences in the same match but was handed a two-game suspension due to it being his second red card of the season – the 27-year-old was sent off for a dangerous challenge on Diego Costa at Stamford Bridge.

Angel Di Maria earned a red card at a particularly inopportune moment, just before Manchester United embark on an unforgiving fun of fixtures (TOT, liv, AVL, MCI, che) that could define their fight for a Champions League berth. The Argentine winger will sit out United’s home tie against Tottenham on Saturday following the ignominy of being booked for simulation and aggressive behaviour towards referee Michael Oliver in the space of 20 seconds.

Jonny Evans began his six-match ban after being charged with spitting at Newcastle’s Papiss Cisse. United’s FA Cup exit against Arsenal on Monday means Evans will now be unavailable until the Gameweek 34 encounter with Everton. For his part in the incident, Cisse received a seven-match ban, with the additional penalty a product of receiving red for elbowing Everton’s Seamus Coleman in December. The Toon frontman will be back in contention for West Brom’s visit to St James’ Park in Gameweek 36.

Joey Barton serves the last of a three-match ban as QPR roll up to Palace this Saturday, whilst Alan Hutton sits out the second of a two-match suspension as Villa make their way to Sunderland.

Elsewhere, Gareth Barry and Lee Cattermole start the first of their two-match suspensions after topping off the Tightrope and Palace’s Mile Jedinak sits out the second of a four-match ban for violent conduct. Sunderland winger Adam Johnson remains suspended by the club pending the outcome of police investigations relating to off-field matters.

Amongst those returning players, Glenn Murray, Nemanja Matic, Jack Colback and Morgan Amalfitano are all back in contention for Gameweek 29, having served their time. Matic twisted his knee celebrating the Blues’ Capital One Cup triumph but recovered in time to face Paris Saint-German in the Champions League last 16 this evening.

at 6.5m, i think downing is still worthy but i would wait for his form to return

meanwhile, i am going for Erik or may Siggy but Siggy's away form is crap

As nothing is moving, I might as well as ask: Any recommendations?

    ----------------Pantilimon----------------
    -----Clyne, C Dawson, Wollscheid--
    Hazard, Puncheon, Silva, Sanchez
    ----------Kane, Austin, Aguero--------

    Subs: Foster, Eriksen, Rose, Haidara

    £3.9ITB, 1FT, WC available

I'm thinking of benching Clyne this week and playing the replacement from Haidara to:
    A) Ivanovic
    or
    B) Schlupp
    or
    C) Other - recommendations gratefully received.

    Thanks.

The move towards A does kinda state that you ignoring Costa and going with the Austin/ Giroud/ Kane/ Aguero players up top.
        Not a bad thing imo

                😯

For me both are very good options in DGW34, since CHE are out of UCL and I don't see them going for goals galore anymore. But then Cesc and/or Costa might punish non-believers.

Since its quiet on here I might ask an FPL irrelevant question. Im on a health fix at the minute and looking for some healthy recipes that dont taste like blended sawdust. Smoothies and salads and such are all well and good but Im looking for a bit of diversity too so I dont get bogged down in monotony. Any aspiring chefs in the house? Would really like some decent recipes that I would be glad to carry on eating post diet so to speak.

Well that probably a good thing. Beef is what I always feel like I'm carrying around for days afterward. Ribeyes are my weakness though.

                  Goat cheese pasta

Penne pasta, fresh tomato, sundried tomato, goat cheese, scallions

Easy peasy. Chunk your fresh tomato, removing the seeds and excess moisture. Used any decent canned sundried. Slice your scallions. Crumble your goat cheese. Drizzle a bit of olive oil on your pasta after pulling it out of the water. Toss the tomato, sundried, goat cheese and scallions in and give it stir. Season to taste.

Add whatever meat you like. Chicken and duck would work. Shrimp is particularly good with it.

Grilled chicken breast or shrimp is best on this. But you could bake or saute with simple salt and pepper.

A steak is surprisingly good for you as long as you don't have a fancy sauce with it.

Slice a chicken breast open stuff it with a blend of blue cheese and low fat mao wrap in ham. That is good for you and nice.

You can make a pie heathier by just putting a top crust on and not the base

      500 gram chicken mince
      1 red capsicum
      4 cloves garlic (crushed)
      1 large chunk ginger (crushed)
      1 red onion
      2 tea spoon fish sauce
      1 tea spoon oyster sauce
      large handful chopped coriander

Cook mince and onion until brown, add ginger and garlic, 2 mins, add sauces and capsicum, 2 minutes, add coriander, 1 minute. Serve on bed of white rice

Easily the easiest and most healthy meal ... recommended for elite athletes.

Yeah, it depends what you're looking for. I eat a lot of that when I'm training for marathons, but then I burn the energy. Might not be so good if the aim is simple weight loss.

            • 10 Years

Yeah weight loss isnt my overall aim. I couldnt care what weight I was so long as I look and feel good. Kicking off a more intense month this week so I need to eat more so the pasta will be a big benefit. Though as I progress I may cut down a bit on it t shred them abs lol

Really want to do a marathon at some point in my live. Not a huge runner by any means me. Old injury means I have a dodgy gait now, not that thats much of an excuse lol How do you find them?

I found most of the ones I've done to be quite tough from about 20miles/30km until close to the end when the impending finish often helps you find reserves you didn't know you had left that. It's a pretty satisfying feeling when that happens and probably explains why I kept doing them. If you're in reasonable health and fitness and do the training, I think marathons are as much a mental as a physical challenge.

Yeah seems to be the general consensus that. Focusing my training for long distance marathons would be my main concern as well it being excruciatingly difficult lol Someday though haha

Running is bad for your body.

Switch to cycling/swimming, something that doesn't pound your frame relentlessly.

Grains are bad for your body. Wheat/rice/etc./sugar all poison.

Meat, fish, veg, fruit is what you need.

If it comes in a cardboard box/plastic bag, and can be left on the shelf for more than a few days, it's very likely to be bad for you.

I make a mean beef stew. I like it with dumplings but it is a lot healthier without.

      400g stewing steak
      200g Shallots
      3 mid size carrots
      2 Parsnips
      2 sticks celery
      200g mushrooms
      200ml beef stock
      Bottle dark beer
      2 Bay Leaves
      Tablespoon Tomato Puree
      Teaspoon sugar.
      Seasoning

      Brown the meat
add the veg cook for 15 mins (obviously chop it all up first.)
Add the beer, stock, tom puree sugar bay leaves & seasoning

Bring to the boil then simmer for 2 hours

Morning DZ, which of these moves do you reckon looks best?

    A) Clichy -> Terry
    B) Haidara -> Zouma (benching PVA)
    C) Ayoze -> Berahino benching Eriksen)
    D) Save

I still have my WC which I plan to use in GW34, so no need to start DGW planning yet.

    Foster
    Clichy, Bellerin, PVA
    Sanchez, Hazard, Silva, Santi, Eriksen
    Aguero, Kane

    Myhill, Bertrand, Haidara, Ayoze

Yeah, it would be quite typical for him to play and grab an assist or something if I got rid. That said, even if he does start, Burnley aren't bad going fwd, especially at home. I can see MCY conceding in this one.

What was Mourinho on about going to the PSG dressing room afterward to congratulate the players? Could he be anymore contrived? I swear his delusion knows no bounds.

Just trying, again, to get his name plastered all over the papers rather than people question why his massively talented and expensive team could not beat 10 men.
All his posturing is aimed at deflecting questions away from what happened on the pitch.

At some point surely the media has to call bullsh!t on it though. It's so lame.

The media and the clubs relationship is symbiotic.

The papers need to fill, apparently, daily pages of football coverage so they dont dare ask challenging questions in-case their access to this stream of bull is cut off

Ah so maybe he didn't. Think it was the Mail that said he congratulated all the PSG players. Perhaps I assumed the worst. The Guardian article had chummy quotes from him speaking to Ibra about the penalty post match. Still cringe either way.

    Advice on my team please:

    Panti - (Foster)
    PVA - Terry - Moreno - (Bert - Dawson)
    Hazard - Cazorla - Eriksen - Moses - (Boyd)
    Austin - Aguero(c) - Kane

    1FT and 4.3ITB

    Costa or Sturridge for DGW?

Giroud and Austin will be in my team for the dgw. Costa is too risky for me

    Now that UCL is over....

What to do with this lot?

    Foster, Panti
    Terry, Bertrand, Monreal, Naughton, PvA
    Hazard, Sanchez, Eriksen, Mane, Moses
    Aguero, Kane, Austin

    1 FT, 3.5 ITB

    A) Monreal/PvA ----> Ivanovic
    B) Monreal/PvA ----> Alderweirald
    C) Eriksen/Mane ----> Silva
    D) Save FT

    Cheers.

I like A) moreno to ivanovic. I would say to toby if it were not for the dgws.

I do have my WC. You do realise it's Monreal (Ars) not Moreno (Liv)

Oh 🙂 I think arsenal will concede, just a guess though.

It's a tough question. I think silva will score this week, but eriksen will have a lot of good fixtures after united. Then I think silva will start to go downhill. If you have your wildcard you should play for most points each week.

          mane/moses to puncheon

      Either
      A with PVA
      or
      C with Mane
