The Dugout Discussion – Swansea vs Liverpool

A dire Gameweek 29 limps to its conclusion this evening as Swansea and Liverpool go head-to-head at the Liberty. Brendan Rodgers returns to his former club having guided the Reds to a 12-match unbeaten run since moving to a 3-4-2-1 formation and the likes of Philippe Coutinho, Raheem Sterling and Daniel Sturridge have the chance to get amongst the points against a defence with a single shut-out in six in front of their own fans.

At the back, the visitors have been a consistent source of clean sheets in recent matches. The Merseysiders have kept out their opponents in six of the last eight Gameweeks and have Martin Skrtel available after the Slovakian recovered from a head knock that forced him off on a stretcher against Blackburn Rovers in the FA Cup stalemate last time out. Mamadou Sakho also returns as one of three centre-backs as Dejan Lovren drops to the bench. Rodgers has made further changes in the wing-back roles, with Glen Johnson and Lazar Markovic dropping to the bench: Alberto Moreno is recalled on the left while Raheem Sterling looks to be deployed on the right.

The hosts, meanwhile, will be looking to bounce back from their 3-2 loss at Spurs in Gameweek 28. Prior to that defeat, Garry Monk’s men had registered back-to-back victories and earned three points in their previous match at the Liberty, courtesy of a 2-1 win over United.

Gylfi Sigurdsson was back in the goals last time out and has the upcoming fixtures to earn himself a place in our five-man midfields again, whilst Ki Sung-Yeung has notched three times in the last five and, at 5.1 in FPL, is staking a claim as a cheap budget option.

The teamsheet finds Monk forced into one change as Jordi Amat comes in for Federico Fernández who misses out for family reasons. Up front, Bafetimbi Gomis is available to lead the line after recovering from his collapse at White Hart Lane in the previous Gameweek.

    West Brom goalkeeper Ben Foster has been ruled out for a month with a knee injury.

    Foster, 31, was replaced by understudy Boaz Myhill during Saturday's game against Stoke City after hurting his leg challenging Peter Crouch for a high ball.

      That said, I'm getting Myhill. Nice little stop gap for Krul and raises £0.5m that will be very useful indeed.

    Forster, Hamer
    Terry, Clyne, Dawson, Hutton, Vergini

    Hutton & Vergini -> ??? (£9.3 to spend)

    Thinking Naughton may be one, but not sure who the other should be?

    Are the FPL reinventing the definition of an assist?

    Important information

    Daniel Sturridge has been awarded the assist for the Liverpool goal as Jordan Henderson, the goal scorer, was the intended target for his pass.

      checked if team ID #1 has Sturridge(c)...but he had Kun(c). No conspiracy I guess.

      But it's a joke donkey decision.

        I see that he's only just in the top 250k, so he's not having the best season. He did finish 89th in 2011/12 though. How long has he been working at FPL Towers?

        He also appears to be a Spurs supporter.

    Krul Foster
    Ivanovic Clyne Naughton Moreno VanA
    Fab Sanchez Boyd Downing Eriksen
    Aguero Kane Giroud

    Got 2 FT and 0.5 in the bank

    Thinking of:

    A) Aguero + Fab ----> hazard + Costa
    B Aguero + Downing ----> Costa + Mane
    C) Any of ur suggestions welcome

    I've got Myhill as backup keeper so Foster injury shouldn't affect my team thankfully. Unless Myhill gets an injury!
