Team Analysis – Assessing Ramsey’s QPR

After taking time out to assess Tim Sherwood’s impact at Villa Park, we analyse the performances of QPR under Chris Ramsey as both clubs prepare for a double Gameweek 31. In terms of results, the new man in charge has been unable to arrest his side’s decline – aside from a win at fellow strugglers Sunderland, the R’s have lost six of seven fixtures since the departure of Harry Redknapp.

Although they’ve failed to score in just one of those encounters, the Loftus Road outfit have notched more than a single goal in only one match since Ramsey was installed – that victory over the Black Cats. In terms of defensive prospects, QPR have one clean sheet (yet again courtesy of the Sunderland match) and have conceded at least twice in each of the last five matches of Ramsey’s tenure.

With trips to West Brom and Villa on the horizon, then, we delve into the data to see whether the underlying numbers can afford a little more optimism.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

    If Costa is confirmed out would it be worth holding or using a FT to replace him with Benteke/Austin?

      Depends on (1) whether you have a 4th defender or 5th middy that is worthwhile or (2) you have so much value tied up in Costa you couldn't buy him back without wrecking your team

        there's 8 gameweeks left, value is meaningless..we need to make decisions about points

          I don't like when people say points>value. Have to keep value in mind. If he thinks Costa will rack in them points in the coming weeks, and won't be able to buy him back, then surely keeping could be the wisest choice?

          Value and points is all combined really. Can't just say feck value go for points.

            there's almost no way he owns Costa at a price that makes it impossible to get him back

            but my point is you need to decide about points. if you sell Costa it's because you think he'll score enough points later to be worth having a blank spot now (with only 8 weeks to go mind). I was saying you can't think about the value you lose

          Here's my team:

          Green
          Yun Bertrand Naughton
          Hazard Sanchez Siggurdsson Silva
          Costa Agüero Kane

          Subs: Courtois, Fletcher, Schlupp, Dawson

            Nice team. Would play Courtois ahead of Green tho. Genuinly believe he will outscore him even with the double. And you have Yun aswell, seems a bit overkill.

                I believed we would beat them both also. Had a good feeling. I think we will get a result against City aswel. 1 point or 3 don't think we will lose

                  I can see 4 points from City/Chelsea, we were unlucky to walk away with 1 point in the back-to-back earlier in the season and that is when we were playing far worse

                      not sure tbh..I think a draw would be best but if Liverpool win in the FA Cup I think a Liverpool PL win would work too because I think that having to concentrate on the FA Cup could still derail their top 4 fight and that extra point over Arsenal (provided we beat Villa) could be very useful

                        I don't see any bad result for us. I wouldn't mind seeing Arsenal thrash Liverpool either to give us a bit of breathing space. Whichever way the game goes we just have to ensure we get all 3 points from Villa!

          You asked me for a differential, not sure the lads will score the most points in their respective positions (Fpl wise)but they certainly offer value and low ownership if your trying to make ground.
          I could be wrong but I'm starting to think Utd may be turning a corner and as we know Firm outweighs fixtures.

                  No, that's what i would do, but you already have Costa, so if he's declared fit just keep him, and do one of your other strikers to Austin. I think him and Sanchez would outscore Costa and Sinclair if Costa was fit and played.

        I had a great plan that involved losing Kun and getting dgw players to fill the role in 31,34 to offset the damage but with the arsenal fixture 37 and Sturbridge out even if Liv have one in 34 it's not necessary anymore.

        ah, but we have a taste of 3rd and it's far better than finishing 4th..if the price is a Liverpool win (especially as I don't see them having any shot at top 4 realistically) then I'm willing to pay it

          It's not worth the risk and a lot can happen from now til the end of the season. Think you're dreaming and very naive if you think they don't have a shot. All it takes is a couple of bad results or bad decisions.

            no Skrtel for 3 matches, potentially no Sturridge, Sterling or Lovren this weekend and Lallana still out paint a different picture..especially considering the massive 180 in form they've experienced since the Blackburn match

              We're clearly favourites now but let's not get ahead of ourselves. We could finish anything from 2nd to 5th tbh.

                on current form, especially since LVG has publicly said a few times that he won't change a good thing, I think we can beat Arsenal and City and give Chelsea a run for their money and maybe sneak a point there (or more!)..I have a good feeling about 3rd

      Arsenal win. 4th nailed for us, Europa league nailed for Liverpool and still a chance of overtaking Arsenal for 3rd given we play them at home in the second last GW.

    Better option here to go with Krul? Which has more CS potential?

    A: Myhill x4 (QPR, LEI, cpl, new) + Krul x4 (SWA, lei, qpr, WHM)

    B: Davis x6 (eve, HUL, sto, sun, lei, AVL) + Krul x2 (SWA, WHM)

    Would Mou give Costa a rest this weekend V Stoke?
    It would also put the ten yellows out of play and leave Costa for QPR away and the two big ones to follow.
    Chelsea should be comfortable against Stoke at home with or without him.

        Many will have A and K, and be looking at B or C to bring in this week. I'd like B but would have to sell next week, so will get C.
        Not sure if that makes Benteke my least favourite wk31 striker, but he's the one I won't have.

      I'm looking at him or Sinclair to bemy 5th mid and play this week but I can't afford Sinclair without taking a hit.

          I like this idear here. The lad seems good for some kind of continuing success. Probably won't net you super duper figures, but some good, honest returns, even if you take a hit. One to consider at the very least.

            I think he is the best 5th mid option right now. Assist and goal potential with something to play for and it's at the back qpr have problems. And he is under 5m

            Benteke is the best option for this week imo but it means giving up a forward spot and needing to get him back out straight away so not worth 2ft. Where as Phillips I would keep

      I think I'm going to play Ki and bench Eriksen this week. I know, people will say it's crazy and almost unbelievable but I think I'm going to do it. I mean, hey, we've all got to go for it sometimes, really live dangerously and take that chance. It could be glorious, it could be a catastrophe. I've made the change on the fpl site and I just hope my nerve holds until Saturday. That's five days, a long time in football.

          Yup GW33 plays a big part in my decision too. I'm a huge fan of picking players who are on form.

          Mata positives:

          On form
          Something to prove
          Utd are in a battle for second/third place

          Mata negatives:

          Could still be rotated although unlikely
          Utd have stuttered all season and could now blank next two games

          Sanchez positives:

          Great underlying stats
          Explosive point potential
          Plays in a very attacking team

          Sanchez negatives:

          He will be rested soon
          Off form
          Out of position
          Tired

        Ditching aguero for anyone comes with risks. Whats the plan long term?

        I wouldn't personally but can see the appeal. I think the DGW could be a huge let down for us. Aguero is due to score a lot of points. How he didn't get at least a brace in his last game I have no idea.

      Off topic maybe but its quiet here. Anyone ever do the Muscle and Fitness 60 Days to Fit?

      Looks quite a good way to get started in the gym.

      Considering barring injury I'll own him for the rest of the season, would you rather have Terry for no hit or Ivan for -4?

        Ivan. He is a big part of the offense. Now if he could just cut down on them there yellow cards.

        Not worth the hit, at all for a sideways move. Don't do it for sure

          It appears that neither is owned by Demelbrush at the moment, hence not a Terry for Ivan as much as it is a Terry or Ivan, with a -4 if you take Ivan, which I think is worth it.

      Morning DZ,

      Best move here? Plan to WC after GW34 so only 4 weeks to consider.

      A) Santi -> Siggy
      B) Sanchez & Ayoze -> 4.2m & Costa
      C) Santi & Ayoze -> N'Zog/Sinclair & Benteke
      D) Santi & Ayoze -> Siggy & Agbonlahor
      E) Silva & Ayoze -> Siggy & Benteke
      F) Santi, Sanchez & Ayoze -> N'Zogbia, Siggy & Costa (4 points)

      Myhill
      Terry, Berty, PVA
      Sanchez, Hazard, Santi, Silva, Eriksen
      Aguero, Kane

      Foster, Bellerin, Ayoze, Haidara
      Bank 0.1m, 2FT, 1WC

        I like C, but maybe instead of N'Zog or Sinclair you plug in Matty Phillips. No love for an Austin punt? I'm sensing a no on that, but might be fun to swap out Aguero for him, though I would understand if you thought little of that idea.

          Austin for Aguero would be on top of Ayoze to Benteke.

      Thanks guys, looks like I gotta hold as painful as that is for me.

      Just know Ozil / Aguero will troll me if I sell them so better sit on my hands.
