Monitor – Marouane Fellaini

A weekend brace in Belgium’s 5-0 victory over Cyprus, followed by the opener in this evening’s clash with Israel, has continued Marouane Fellaini’s recent renaissance. Having struggled to make an impact since arriving at Old Trafford at the start of last season, the former Everton man is belatedly winning over the Old Trafford faithful as Louis van Gaal’s side close in on a top four finish.

With Robin van Persie sidelined through injury since Gameweek 27, Van Gaal’s decision to move to 4-3-3 and hand Fellaini a spot on the left of midfield has helped United register four successive wins, including back-to-back victories over top-four rivals Spurs and Liverpool in the last couple of Gameweeks. Whilst Juan Mata’s brace at Anfield has persuaded over 28,000 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers to snap up his services, Fellaini – despite serving up a 13-point haul in his previous home appearance – has made his way into just 4,000 new teams.

As United prepare for the weekend visit of Villa, we take a look at Fellaini’s displays in the four match-winning streak without the stricken Van Persie. Delving into the data, we assess his performances against his previous numbers and also compare them to his team-mates and fellow midfielders alike.

Would you do a -4 to bring in Myhill(for Foster) or would you play Begovic against Chelsea?

Honestly not worth a hit for a keeper, especially since bego will play.

Depending who your other keeper is, if a non playing keeper then most definitely make the transfer.

I would look at it like this (assuming you would not waste a normal transfer on your keeper in the coming weeks as you adjust for the DGW) consider the 4pt hit over the next three games.

      WBA : QPR,LEI, cpl

      STO : che, whm, SOT.

Excluding instances like penalty saves which cannot be predicted I would be extremely confident that Myhill will outscore Begovic (not to mention freeing up 1mil) by at least 4 points.

Is worth noting that WBA games do toughen after that but even still Stoke have some equally tough games.

Lots of guys benching Bertrand. I don't understand why ? Yeah he has Everton away but he has probably been the best full back in the prem this season after Ivan. I will play him and hope for a assist or even a cleanie. Everton are gash anyway

It's not the worst fixture that's for sure. Could be a cleanie but we'll see.

I was considering bringing Naughton (HUL) in and playing him over Bertrand, but I think I'll save and play Berty.

I have Naughton Pva and Terry so I could bench Bertrand .. but I don't feel right benching him.
Although Pva Naughton both have really good fixtures.

Just decide irrespective of the performance last night. I think he's shown enough that you can disregard a friendly performance with the national team rather than Spurs which is built around him. Didn't see the game or read anything about the performance btw.

I dunno, I've been mulling that over all week. If you have no other GK I'd probably go Davis but as I have Krul maybe the Myhill/Krul rotation is better. Undecided still.

Do the Sanchez one Imo. Always better to sort the important ones out first. Myhill only has 2 or 3 decent fixts left so I'd say Davis is the better pick.

I'd say if you were bringing one of them in this week, and you have another playing keeper, go Myhill.

LvG plays his team based on his opponents. So even if United win a game 5-0, no one can be sure that the same 11 will start the next game. But as a United fan, I am positive ADM will start. LvG doesn't worry about fatigue. He prefers that a player has more game time under his belt anyway.

Double up on Southampton could go either way tbh. I personally think it's a good move as Everton are not hitting the heights of last season but that 1 goal could kill you

        Totally.

Honestly I don't want to do it, but just have no better options after using my FT to go Foster > Myhill.

If there is any team to go for in a risky double up it must be Soton though right?

I'd have Sanchez over Silva (though he's tailed off), and I would have Azpilicueta over Ivan, whose attacking exploits have actually masked his defensive vulnerability. Probably Costa over Aguero as Aguero has lost form and has been injured a lot.

      Mine:
      De Gea
      Clyne Terry Fonte Azpilicueta

      Sanchez Matic/Fabregas Schneiderlin Hazard

      Costa Kane

Bench: Courtois, Bertrand, Silva, Matic/Fabregas, Aguero

Yeah true - I've included Alexis in mine, I think he just pips Fab. Close tho.

Yeah I'd probably put Matic in, just seems a defensive midfield alongside Schneiderlin. It can be my Champions League line up.

      Cech over Courtois
      Costa also deserve a spot.

Bloody hard picking a team that has any balance.

      DDG
      Ivan Terry Fonte Bertrand
      Matic
      Sanchez Silva Hazard
      Kane Costa

      Courtois, Clyne, Aguero, Carrick, Henderson.

      Noticeable absences: Fabregas, Schneiderlin, Forster.

Not a nicely balanced team I know.

Yep I wasn't too worried about the balance really as I think 2 strikers deserve a place which then messes up the midfield a bit.

You could also, potentially, move Ivan into CB alongside Terry, and play Clyne at RB and Bertrand at LB.

I'd possibly put Ashley Williams alongside Terry - sounds odd, but he really has been incredible for Swansea at the back.

That midfield is spot on for me....great balance. That has goals and defence written all over it.

Kane, yes and Aguero and Costa are a dead heat for me. I'm happy to see either or.

Williams is a good shout. I wasn't totally happy with Fonte in there but couldn't really come up with anything better.

      DDG
      Ivanovic - Skrtel - Terry - Bertrand
      Matic - Henderson
      Hazard - Silva - Sanchez
      Kane

      Back four of:

      Clyne Ivan Terry Bertrand

      Could be a winner.

      Clyne Terry Mertesacker Bertie
      Hazard Matic Henderson Silva
      Aguero Kane

      (Courtois, Costa, Sanchez, Skrtel)

      DDG

      Clyne Terry Kosc Berty

      Carrick Henderson

      Silva Downing Hazard

      Kane

      * Carrick/Henderson/Kosc/Downing could all be replaced by bigger names, but these are the players I feel have made the biggest difference for their respective teams

I like the reasoning on this. As a gooner I back Kosc for sure.

Fatigue isn't issue since the game is on Monday.

Last time he had a international game and he came back to score 4 vs Spurs at 12:45 game on Saturday
