Injuries

The Treatment Table – Gameweek 32

We take our usual Sunday evening look at the weekend’s new injuries now, with Chelsea’s concerns up front increasing after Loic Remy picked up a muscle problem in training yesterday.

Aston Villa
The injury worries continued in defence for Tim Sherwood after Ciaran Clark was forced off early on in the 1-0 win over Spurs. Sherwood is also sweating over the fitness of Gabby Agbonlahor up front, after the forward was also replaced at White Hart Lane. After the match, the Villa manager admitted the pair are likely to miss next weekend’s semi-final with Liverpool:

“Ciaran has come off with a knee ligament injury. He’s not had it before. It’s the first time this season we’ve had to name an unchanged team so it’s something we’re getting used to. Gabby’s tweaked his hamstring. It looks like (they will miss Sunday). It’s a real shame as it’s a massive day out.”

Chelsea
Loic Remy missed today’s trip to QPR after sustaining a muscle injury in training yesterday, Jose Mourinho has confirmed:

“Remy got a kick in training and the muscle is sore. We never cry or complain, we just trust the people on the pitch”

After the 1-0 win, the Blues boss was optimistic that the Frenchman will be back in time for next week’s home clash with United:

“Remy has a small injury. I think he should be available for the next game.”

Crystal Palace
Left-back Pape Souare was forced off early in the 4-1 win over Sunderland due to injury.

Everton
Leon Osman is set to be assessed after sustaining a groin injury during the Toffees’ 1-1 draw at Swansea yesterday lunchtime.

Manchester City
Reports suggest Vincent Kompany was withdrawn at half-time due to a thigh complaint in City’s loss at Old Trafford.

Manchester United
Michael Carrick was forced off towards the end of this afternoon’s derby win over City, with his withdrawal leaving the hosts with just ten men. Post-match, Louis van Gaal revealed:

“At the end, Michael Carrick needed to be changed but I could not substitute him. He was very wise to step out of the game with my permission. I hope he is not injured.”

QPR
Armand Traore was initially named amongst the subs today but withdrew from the squad after sustaining a knock during the pre-match warm-up.

Stoke
Victor Moses and Marc Wilson were both replaced during the Potters’ weekend draw at West Ham, with Mark Hughes confirming post-match:

“It looks like Victor has pulled his hamstring. It looks like it is in a strange position as it seems to be right behind his knee, which isn’t the normal position you usually get hamstring injuries. We will get it checked, it may be something that isn’t to do with the hamstring so it could be that we get good news. If it is a hamstring, then it could be that we lose him for a few weeks…Marc got a bang right on his hip, fair play to him he tried to go out for the second half and see if he could make it work. Sadly he couldn’t loosen it off and had to be forced off unfortunately.”

Swansea
Bafetimbi Gomis lasted just 17 minutes of Saturday’s early kick-off against Everton before limping off with a hamstring problem, Garry Monk has confirmed:

“Bafe felt a tightening of his hamstring. He will have a scan. Hopefully it’s not too serious because we don’t want to lose his quality, and we’re already quite thin on the ground.”

Fellow forward Nelson Oliveira missed out with a twisted ankle sustained in training.

West Ham
Sam Allardyce’s options up front could be somewhat limited heading into the weekend trip to City after both Diafra Sakho and Enner Valencia picked up injuries in the weekend draw with Stoke. Post-match, the Hammers boss confirmed:

“Enner was never going to be able to play the full 90 minutes, but he got a kick as well and we’re hoping it won’t be enough to keep him out for next week, because Diafra will definitely be missing. If it’s a thigh strain, depending on what grade it is, it could two weeks or it could be him missing the rest of this season, but we will wait and see. That leaves us very short on the front line with Andy being out, and means goals will be fewer and farther between than they used to be, so if we don’t get that defensive side right then the last six games are going to be tough for us.”

Im not so sure why everyone is getting so excited about Vardy and Cambiasso.

They have Burnley Away, a defense that kept out Man City and Spurs and Chelsea at Home.

Im honestly expecting 2 points from both

meh "they" know jack all. austin and phillips are much better fpl picks than cambiasso and vardy.
vardy I see the appeal though but prefer murray. no leicester mids or defenders appeal to me at all

I would just keep Remy, he'll be fit for next game. And besides, Drogba was awful yesterday so if fit he'll play imo. I would rather keep my ft, and get Coutinho\hendersen for Eriksen next week instead. Maybe Kane-->vardy as well.

Got 2 FTs and a can put enough players out so doing a luxury gk transfer. Dont really expect any CS's from Leicester but i need a gk in for foster this week since i got 2 FT's and nothing to do with it. Already have Myhill and will be playing him GW 36 for new. With that in mind Would you rather get
    A) Schmeichel - SWA DGW NEW sun QPR
    B) Mignolet - blank DGW QPR CPL stk(With Myhill playing cpl during the blank GW)

Leaning towards A) since it gives me points this week and frees up a spot elsewhere for maybe 3 Pool attackers next week

    1. Coldplay
      • 12 Years

Mignolet out of those. Can't really go wrong with those fixtures. Don't see many CS for Leicester and West Brom now.

Schmeichel should get plenty of saves though.. would allow me to bench myhill this week vs a freescoring palace too. Mignolet's fixtures are actually deceptively tough since they include a free scoring CPL and a relegation threatened QPR. Course i could look at Schlupp in for Dawson/Bellerin instead

+1 I totally agree, QPR looked good yesterday too to be fair, Imagine if Remy had played and blanked, the chances of him starting next week when I really need him would have been reduced,

As it was I think if he is fit then there is no doubt he starts, Drogba really did himself no favours.

Having a slight knock yesterday could prove to be a blessing in disguise.........

how would you rank the following Liverpool attackers for prospects in the dgw: Sturridge, Sterling, Coutinho, Hendo

    For me:
    1. Coutinho
    2. Sturridge
    3. Sterling
    4. Henderson

      2. Sterling
      3. Coutinho
      4. Sturridge

      - Liverpool fan. Sturridge is no way near any form. Has been terrible lately. Henderson is more involved than he used to be, and with Gerrard out of the team Hendo has monopoly on all set pieces. Can see WBA or Hull concede a penalty.

are you guys considering sturridge. surely the best prospect but will be last in that list in terms of mins played

plus whoever you bring in for the the dgw you want to keep for 35 as they play QPR and again imagine the pain when sturridge is named on the bench in that game.

      prospects
      studge
      sterling
      cout

Could do with some ideas about how to spend 1 FT this week. Would like to carry the other FT have 2FT's ready for the DGW

    Krul

    Ivanovic Toby Lescott Dawson
    Hazard Silva Eriksen Bentalab
    Aguero(c) Kane

    Subs: Giroud Ozil Bellerin Mignolet

    2FT's
    Bank: 0.4

You can start 11 players so I wouldn't change anything.

Lescott to Schlupp, Eriksen to CPL mid are two options I'd consider. Probably the former. I'm considering Giroud to Remy as well.

Giroud to Remy is tempting actually. City got completely outplayed but Aguero still popped up with a couple of goals so it could be a goer. The other moves seem a bit meh by comparison considering they have games. It would enable me to bench Bentalab too.

It's a good time to replace Bellerin. Blank, then CHE, then most likely replaced by Debuchy. Morgan or Schlupp wouldn't be bad replacements.

I'm wondering if Bellerin might be challenging Debuchy for regular starts? Still probably a good safe move to sell and pick up an extra DGWer, even if it is a Leicester defender.

Depends who you are looking at for the double. E.g. if you're interested at all in fab, now would be as good a time as any to go ozil -> fab, and then play him ahead of Bentaleb.

Same logic if you're interested in a DGW forward like Remy, or even Vardy, as you could use one of your transfers now to make that move (Giroud -> ??)

I'm not necessarily suggesting either of those transfers, but I think I'd try and make the transfer count.

Thanks for this I fully agree with what you're saying. I think if I wanted to make the transfer count it probably should be a Chelsea player like Remy or Fabregas. Ozil or Giroud would be the fall guys and I'm thinking Ozil is probably the one I'm not to fussed with losing.

I haven't had a Pool player in my side for almost the entire season, so I'm a bit out of touch with their lineup. Where does Moreno fit in these days? I notice that he has been taken off after 60 minutes a number of times in the past few weeks. Seems a bit odd for a LB to be consistently subbed?

    Enlightenment would be appreciated 😛

I'm not sure why but its not a bad thing for his clean sheet prospects. Reduces the chance of him losing out on his clean sheet if he misses the last 20-30mins.

Perhaps fatigue is part of the reason he gets subbed?

That is true. The real question is whether the 0.6m saved by going with him over Skrtel is worth it. Do you know whether Sakho is predicted to be back in time? I know the fpl page says expected return on the 25th for the start of the double, but they are hardly the most reliable source.

Yeah it would be too early to make a call on Sakho unfortunately, seems very touch and go. I think if you can afford the 0.6 for Skrtel that would be the way to go

As I have just demonstrated I'm not all that knowledgeable about the Pool set-up, but I don't think he has ever played LWB before. His favoured position is definitely on the right side, so if anything he will be threatening the RB/RWB position.

    Whatcha reckon fellas?

    A) Sinclair -> Bolasie (max 10 starters)
    B) Bellerin & Sinclair -> Schlup & Bolasie [4 points]
    C) Bellerin & Sanchez (10.4m PP) -> Baines & Siggy/Bolasie [4 points]
    D) Wildcard

Starting to think that D might be the way forward (especially if Remy gets ruled out) - will enable 11 good starters this week and will set myself up nicely for the DGWs to follow. Something like 3 CHE, 2 LIV and 1 ARS. Thoughts?

    Myhill
    Terry, Berty
    Hazard, Silva, Eriksen
    Aguero, Kane, Remy

Foster, Bellerin, PVA, Haidara, Sanchez, Sinclair

C with Bolasie IMO, though I can see the temptation to WC...

I think you're better off taking a hit so you can go for it this week, no compromising by preparing for the double, then WC for GW34 and go for that properly as well, with no compromise there, either.

Yeah, I think I'm on C also at the moment, although I'd be losing a lot on Sanchez. If Remy gets ruled out would that sway you to D? My WC teams would be almost identical whether I did it this week or next.

C seems the way to go, assuming you don't want to bring Sanchez back anytime soon.

I would be seriously considering D personally. I'd draw up a WC team for 34 and 33 and compare the two. If I'm not sacrificing a lot, I'd do it.

Got 11 players starting next week with a lot of good players on the bench.

    Clyne - Aldeweireld - Azpi - Dawson
    Silva - Hazard - Eriksen - Boyd
    Kane - Aguero

    Bench: Remy*, Ozil, Bellerin

    * injured but may make it in over Boyd or Dawson.
