The ScoutCast – Episode 158 – Foxy

It’s not often that we get to spend a good portion of the ScoutCast discussing Leicester City’s rich array of Fantasy talent.

That’s how this week’s episode pans out, as Luke aka “D1sable” does his George Boyd act to come off the bench and join myself, Granville and Jonty to analyse the impending double Gameweek.

We tackle the usual ScoutCast regulars, whilst deflecting the latest round of questions from the community, assessing the great Foxes hunt, the Hazard versus Sterling gamble and even how we can possibly eek out a valid target amongst the Hull City squad. Meanwhile, Granville is dreaming of a three-digit points bonanza as he joins the world’s number one in activating his belated FPL Wildcard.

This week’s episode was beamed out live on Monday evening via Google Hangouts. You can catch the full fat version via the player below.

For those who prefer a more refined, fine dining version, you’ll need to click this link or use the smaller player below for the edited MP3 audio.

After tinkering around with the WC I think I'm settled.

    Schmeichel,
    Sclhupp, Skrtel, Ivan
    Cambiasso, Haz, Sterling, Henderson, Fab
    Kun, Kane

    Subs: Panti, Giroud, Alder, PvA

    0.7m in the bank.

I have opted not to go for Vardy as it'll waste a transfer next week when I could be getting an Arsenal mid instead, also not prepared to lose Kane.

Any suggestions to improve this or good to go?

From GW36 Sanchez is essential, simple as that.

In fact he'll be as essential as anyone has at any point this season, for that 4 game stretch over GWs 36-38.

        Yes.

        Next week Fab -> Ramsey

        then GW36: Skrtel -> Duff

        Then GW37: Sterling -> Sanchez

Or I may take a hit in 36 to do the Sanchez switch if funds are tight

So how about this wildcard team:

    Mignolet
    Terry, Zouma, Huth
    Hazard, Sterling, Henderson, Cambiasso
    Agüero, Austin, Vardy

    Bench: Myhill, van Aanholt, McShane

Have enough cash left to get Giroud in for Austin next week and Ramsey for Sterling the week after.

I know the defence looks a bit shaky but I expect Zouma to get a lot of minutes from here on and the rotation between the other players is not that bad.

Double Che defense might not be ideal once they clinch the title.
I'd go N'Doye over Austin if for 1 week only. Or even Remy if declared fit.
Huth to Morgan to save 0.3 if you need elsewhere.
Mignolet -> Ospina for the rest of the season and Zouma > Moreno?

Thanks for the reply! N'Doye over Austin seems worth a go, think I will do that. Actually can afford Azipilicueta for Zouma and still get Giroud and Ramsey in in the next weeks, so that is another improvement.
Would love to have Ospina would be great to have but prefer three Arsenal attackers.

    G'morning!

With all this talk of Chelsea to play really tight, seems I'll be going double Chelsea defence. Hence have room for one Arsenal mid to keep on bench over GW34. Will wait on Sanchez to save budget for this GW, so which one to have for the last few GW's out of :

    A) Ramsey
    B) Øzil
    C) Cazorla

They'll most likely keep a CS against Leicester, and Arsenal match likely 0-0, 1-0 or 1-1 with I'd say 30% chance of each of those scores. Which to me means that projected score for Fabregas, who is my alternative, is about the same as for one of the defenders. But going with defenders makes the switchover to three Aresnal mids easier.

Im not sure where the leicester double defence. Surely one of huth morgan or schmeichel is enough considering if on WC you can get skrtel moreno or terry /cahill/ ivanovic.

              Davis
Ivanovic, Terry, Moreno (-4), Huth (-8)
              Henderson, Coutinho, Hazard, Puncheon
              Kane, Aguero

              Bench: Boyd, Giroud, Baird

I'm certain of the -4 for Moreno. I'm still contemplating the -8 for Huth. Leicester City is on form and they are defending very well.

Has anyone found in recent seasons, you sometimes do a bit worse in the last few gameweeks because of putting too much emphasis on fixture quality?

For example, if you look at the season ticker it'll have teams like leciester, burnley, sunderland, hull as the easiest opponents to play. They are all going 100% for wins right now.

Really, at this stage of the season it is in some ways preferable to play teams like Newcastle, Stoke, Swansea, Everton, Palace, WBA etc. These teams are mid table and have nothing to play for, some would say on the beach, whereas the 'easy' teams are fighting for the most expensive TV rights in football history. It is at times like backing a player in a friendly vs someone in a cup final.

I feel it may be time to rip up the season ticker and start making considerations based on your knowledge of game.

Haha well let's see. There is the opposing argument that strikers might get even more fun vs them as they open up in search of 3 points.

I don't think the PL is ever particularly predictable, but there are a fair few 'surprise' results toward the end of the season with teams fighting to stay in the league, and they don't have to be playing v 'teams on the beach' for that to happen. And the award for longest sentence goes to...

            Yeah, crazy things do happen.

I wonder what the odds were on leicester winning 3 on the bounce.

WBA are the weakest opponents now if you ask me.

Stayed up playing hard working, dogged football.

Surely to motivation to keep that up is gone.

With Sturridge confirmed out, I think Sterling is about as close to essential as it gets. Without sturridge on the pitch, Sterling is the midfielder in the prem with the most touches in the box, and generally that is a pretty strong indicator of goals

Is there anyone else who has doubts about putting the armband on Hazard? It isn´t like Mourinho is in his most attacking mind right now. And Liverpool have actually easier games. Anyone on Sterling?

With Sturridge being confirmed out Sterling does look like a decent option. The form book still seems to favour Hazard though.

True, he has form. But I am wondering... chelsea against united was just parking the bus. If arsenal doesn´t score first I can't se Chelsea scoring more than one.

I think concensus is that Hazard is safer, but Sterlign riskier but higher potential for the next two. So if you look to make a leap on the rankings, nothing wrong with Sterlign. Hazard in scary good form of late, though.

Mou is not going to do any random benching until he's clinched and mathematically the fastest he can do that is two wins in a row 😉
