Injuries

The Treatment Table – Gameweek 34

As per usual on a Sunday evening, we scour the treatment rooms for any new injuries sustained over the weekend’s matches. United have worries up front ahead of their weekend home clash with West Brom after Wayne Rooney picked up a knee problem during this afternoon’s loss at Everton.

Burnley
Sam Vokes missed the Clarets’ home loss to Leicester due to a thigh problem, Sean Dyche has confirmed:

“We need goals, because we haven’t been scoring enough lately. We had a tricky spell earlier in the season and came through, and we need something similar now. We’re looking for something for Lukas Jutkiewicz. Sam Vokes has a niggling thigh injury, so it’s a chance for Jukes to show what he can do.”

Chelsea
Oscar was replaced at the break in today’s draw at Arsenal following a clash of heads with Gunners keeper David Ospina. The Brazilian was sent to hospital for scans, with Jose Mourinho saying the club’s staff were “scared” over his condition.

Post-match, the Blues boss admitted that Loic Remy won’t be fit in time for the midweek trip to Leicester.

Crystal Palace
The Eagles were without Joel Ward for the weekend home loss to Hull due to a shin problem. Alan Pardew is not yet ruling the defender out of next weekend’s trip to the Bridge:

“Fingers crossed he will be back for Chelsea. I’m sure Chelsea aren’t [crossing theirs]. He’s been great. It’s a shin injury…We missed Wardy’s quality at the back.”

Leicester
Jeffrey Schlupp picked up a knock ahead of the Foxes’ win at Burnley, whilst Nigel Pearson also confirmed David Nugent remains a worry with a calf complaint:

“It’s always about trying to get the best we have available. We picked up one or two knocks, David Nugent and Jeff Schlupp didn’t make it today, but it’s an opportunity for other players to come in.”

Liverpool
Alberto Moreno missed the Reds’ goalless draw at West Brom with a knock, according to local reports.

Man City
Yaya Toure is set to be assessed after being forced off during City’s narrow win over Villa with a hamstring problem, Manuel Pellegrini has confirmed:

“Toure had a hamstring problem so he couldn’t play the second half. It is difficult to know today what happened, but it was not a precaution. It was a muscle injury and we will see tomorrow [Sunday] or Monday how bad it is.”

Man United
Wayne Rooney was forced off towards the end of this afternoon’s loss at Everton due to a knee injury, Louis van Gaal has confirmed:

“Yes, Rooney was injured. He had a shot on his knee, so we have to wait and see how heavy (serious) it is.”

Newcastle
Daryl Janmaat was forced off due to illness as the Magpies fell to defeat at home to Swansea. John Carver revealed post-match:

“We lost Daryl Janmaat because of sickness, so he should be okay for next week, but he wasn’t feeling too well, so I had to get him off the pitch.”

Southampton
Morgan Schneiderlin limped off towards the end of the Saints’ draw with Spurs due to a knee injury, according to post-match reports.

Stoke
Geoff Cameron was subbed off with four minutes remaining of the Potters’ draw against Sunderland due to a hamstring problem.

Swansea
Wayne Routledge has been ruled out for the remainder of the season with an ankle injury. The Swans confirmed on Saturday afternoon that the winger has already undergone surgery in order to address a long-standing problem.

Jefferson Montero was replaced on 69 minutes after sustaining a thigh problem.

Tottenham
Ben Davies was stretchered off in the weekend draw at Southampton with a shoulder injury. Post-match, Mauricio Pochettino went on to say:

”Ben [Davies] is OK now. He suffered a dislocation of the shoulder but he is much better now. We need to assess him in the next few days. Not a longer [-term] problem.”

West Ham
Winston Reid missed the weekend draw at QPR with a hamstring problem, the Hammers have revealed.

I did not take any hits too..

42 on the board, but with an usual 8 Points hit that many other took, it's effectively 50 scored.

With Haz (c), Ivan, Hendo, Sterling, Skrtel to play, and Lord Remy, else it'll be Mane from bench with 2 Points.

Just not sure Nick ... I'd love to bring him in instead of Koscielny but there's that uncertainty in his gametime with Debuchy back on the park. Monitor this week i guess and see how he goes vs Hull, then save the FT for the following week.

Who else thinks its a bit premature to be expecting Sanchez to play in both of Arsenals games for dgw 37? Arsene has be talking about giving him a rest, and after today, Arsenal really do not have much else to play for. Given they play well till gw 37, the double might be irrelevant to them. Food for thought. I don't think it's wise to take a hit for an Arsenal play at the moment.

1 and play Cambiasso instead of Kane. Better to wait on Arsenal I think, there may be injuries before DGW and both Sterling and Cesc have good fixtures. 4 would also be good but it leaves you short for Sanchez, you'd have to go with Ozil and Ramsey/Cazorla instead.

With Villa playing for survival and hitting some form I think an Everton clean sheet would be unlikely, so you'd probably be relying on attacking returns from Baines which are hard to predict. I'd normally play the attacker over the defender in a 50-50 situation.

Silva to Arsenal mid if you have Aguero. City are done for the season judging by how they've been playing.

thanks, i had the same thought

Silva is so drifted to the flanks and with bony back...Silva would not have much returns

The bonus system is never going to be perfect, but there are times when the result is so far off the human perspective that you really have to laugh!

Even Wayne Bridge and Anton Ferdinand would've admitted Terry deserved bonus last night!

Now it's so transparent, you don't see many complaints about baps on here. Taking the human perspective out seems like a sensible move.

Yeah I guess you're right if we are being sensible.. sometimes I miss the flair of the man in the stand even if they had an extreme hardon for certain players. #Charlieadam

agree but this season has probably been the best one out of the last 3 in terms of baps assignment overall.

The best out of the last 11 IMO.

They've changed the system a couple times in recent years and each one fails.

I've said it several times before, they should just get rid of bonuses altogether they're surplus to requirements in what's otherwise the perfect scoring system for ff.

I'd agree with losing the baps. I've been playing long enough to remember that the point of it was to reward players who had had an outstanding impact on a game but not come up with a goal/assist/whatever. But now you get, in effect, rewarded twice for scoring a goal while players in the non-glory position, like def mids, still rarely get baps.

I also think that Terry should get a bonus ...

      😐 how is that possible?

    Had planned
A- Fabregas and Sterling to Ozil and Ramsey
    but now
B- Kane, Fab or Ster, Ivan to Benteke Ramsey and Koscielny

    is appealing

    team now-

    Mingloet/ Myhill
    Ivan/ Alderw/ Huth/ PVA/ Hadria
    Hazard/ Fabregas/ Sterling/ Boyd/ Silva
    Aguero/Kane/ Giroud

    0.6 ITB 1FT

Any thoughts on A, B or something else welcome

(all can be done in stages with no hits, Sanchez just a bit too expensive, ignoring Ospina as selling Ming doesn't raise much cash and Ming/ Myhill works ok til season end)

B sounds good tbh. Time will tell how this week's result will affects the Arsenal attack. They may be more ruthless and take it out on their opponents (who are there for the taking tbh) or just stroll to the finish line.

Benteke looked good against City. Was between him or Giroud on WC...went with the latter. But wish i'd gone with Tekkers now.

Cheers, leaning towards B. Means i will probably be stuck with Sterling though til the seasons end as will use Fab out in that scenario.

Both look good to me SAB. It all comes down to whether you want to have 3 Arsenal attackers or a defender instead of 1. I still haven't really considered selling Kane, with just a few games left he'll surely be desperate for that golden boot and still offers excellent value.

Thanks for input. Ozil just not inspiring me and Sanchez too much cash. Also rival in ML got rid of Kane so no real risk there on a Bentekke move

Ozil doesn't inspire me much either tbh. Fair enough, B looks the standout option then.

i actually thought Ozil was the heart of Arsenal's last night game

            2 shots, 4 key passes...

Paul Lambert for Dortmund? There's an article in the birmingham mail on this. Haven't had a better laugh in a while.

Won the champions league with them so I suppose the tabloids have latched onto that. Funny thing is even as native English speaker I couldn't understand a word he says, can just imagine what it's be like in German.
