The ScoutCast – Episode 161 – Kahunas

This week’s episode of the ScoutCast certainly doesn’t lack “Kahunas” but it does go without my nasal tones.

Another bout of man-flu got the better of me this week but, rather than can the episode, I allowed the lunatics to take over the asylum and run this nonsense without me. Granville and Jonty rise to the occasion, ably abetted by this week’s star guest, Jack Wain – previously number two in the world and still part of the pack giving chase to former guest, Simon March.

Jack makes his appearance just as his gutsy gamble to ignore the sure-fire Sergio Aguero captaincy backfires. Granville and Jonty analyse his brave fall from grace, while quizzing our FPL luminary on the Gameweek 37 double and the great Eden Hazard dilemma, all courtesy of another round of questions from you, the community.

This week’s episode was beamed live via the magic of Google Hangouts on Tuesday evening. You can view that webcam wonder via the larger player below.

For the polished, directors cut audio version, you’ll be needing this link or the smaller player below.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Have had John O'Shea for a while now. Would have been a nice reward to have him for the DGW. Fitness not looking good, though. That stinks.

Can't get a 3rd Ars player without a hit. Still worthwhile?

Options are these as I see it.

        A) Haz > Rambo
        B) Kane > Gru + Elmo > Albrighton -4
        C) Elmo > Gomez
        D) Vardy/Kane > Any Sund Striker

Would you rather Giroud over a Sunderland striker?

Will Giroud outscore a Sunderland mid or forward by 4pts is the question.

          Kane/Vardy + Elmo > Gru + Gomez?

Would be a gamble to bring Ramsey in if you don't have him.

I have Ramsey so nothing to lose. Sunderland forward is a lucky dip in my opinion.
Play Kane, bench Vardy for GW38.

Hold the Haz to Ramsey for Sat morning.

I have Sanchez, Gru, Pants and PVA and 1FT. Don't fancy any more Sunderland and there is so much uncertainty over the Arsenal line up i've given up trying to work out which Arsenal player to bring in especially as it would mean selling Hazard this week only to use another transfer to bring him back next. Instead I find I have just the right money to swap Fonte for Kolarov this week and Bertrand for Terry next.

Anyone else using their FT for a non DGW player?

They've averaged a clean sheet every other game in the last ten, so it's not unreasonable to speculate that you would need Cazorla to score to come out ahead. But if the player you can afford isn't guaranteed game time that changes the calculation.

Do you like the build up before week 1, the early rush to swap out all those crap players you started the season with for the early template, the Xmas fixture mayhem or the dgw end of season madness?

Not a big fan of end of season. Rank is fairly settled, teams are similar and very few unknown quantities. I like early doors pondering who to bring in. What cheeky punt to start the season with. Wondering which one will last the season (hutton, never say tha coming :D) and then when it all mucks up I have an early WC to ponder and get excited about

I suppose thats one exciting part of late Wcs. Playing catch up 😉 I like to play mine early and demoralise my mini-leagues with an unassailable lead 😆

Definitely autumn for me. Games every weekend, spotting the new value players, trying to get a grip on the narrative of the season, moving up through the rankings ( slowly, usually ). Really good fun. I hate the post - New Year to March time with all the interruptions for the Cup, internationals and so on.
I seem to do OK on the DGWs ( fingers crossed ) so the end of the season is not so bad, either. Usually happy to see the end of it, though.

So I need to bring in and captain a different ARS asset to No OR this week.

Do we still think his likely move is Haz -> Ramsey?

Nah, he hasn't moved yet. Here's his team:

        http://fantasy.premierleague.com/entry/390/event-history/36/

I'm a long way back (58 points) in 14th so need to get a lot of differentials. Thinking either:

        A) Baird -> Kos(c) and bench Terry, who he will start), or

        B) Silva -> Santi/Ozil/Ramsey(c) (whichever he is least likely to get)

We both already have Alexis and Giroud and I expect he will captain Alexis

If you still have eyes on the prize Jins I think you'll have to do the unthinkable and go without Sanchez. You need a big haul from your captain too which means it probably has to be an arsenal asset with those two games

            Jins already has Alexis.
I would say captain the arsenal midfielder with the lowest ownership above you. You need to somehow make up ground on 14 people not just number 1. Others may do the same but you can still expect a fair few to captain alexis. Some maybe Giroud or another arsenal mid. If you choose the lowest owned out of ramsey/caz/ozil you might just get lucky and be the only one out of 15 to captain him! Long shot but what you got to lose?

              Yeah, completely agree.

I was all set on Silva -> Santi(c) but the Ramsey news may be enough for No.1 to get Santi instead of Ramsey. Another left field move is Baird -> Kos(c) and hope for 2 CS and a goal. Unlikely but that would be a 40 point score.

Yeah, for sure I definitely need to captain an ARS player he doesn't have. Who do you think he will likely get?

I already have Sanchez so will start (but not captain) him.

For sure he will go safe. Not sure of his team or cash in the bank. If Ramsey was fit he would be the obvious choice. Caz on form now throws a spanner in the works. I'd be leaning towards Caz at the minute if I were him. What is his midfield like? Im not sure he's want to drop Hazard before GW38 either.

2FT?makes it difficult. I would try and hold Haz if I was him maybe henderson to Caz if he can squeeze the cash from somewhere

Yeah, it's very very unlikely but still not impossible. I need a monster score from my captain this week, something like 40 points from Kos (2 CS and a goal) and for Sanchez to blank. Unlikely but not impossible.

I have to say I agree with nick on this one. If it was just you and Simon then just maybe he could blow it but there are 12 managers between you as well doing similar combinations of things to what you are looking at.

Make some good choices and see it home top 10 finish is my advice.

Thing is, I'll likely never get this high so I kinda feel like I have to go for it, and if it goes wrong I'll still probably have a top 100 rank.

Edging towards Kos(c) unless Simon moves early and I can figure out which ARS player he gets this week. Whatcha reckon?

                    Giroud - 7
                    Santi - 2

                    Ozil - 1
                    Kos - 1

Only 1 person above me has Kos. I still think 50% of those above me will go Sanchez(c) and the rest will go for Giroud/Santi/Ramsey.

    Looking for advice.

I'm 3rd in my ML and need to make up 40-50 pts if possible in 2 GW's.

I have Sanchez, Giroud & Ramsey from Arsenal.

Rivals i'm chasing have the following Gunners as of last week.
    Rival 1) Kosc & Cazorla
Rival 2) Sanchez, Bellerin & Ospina

I presume Rival 1 will bring in Sanchez as his FT this week so should I

    A) gamble and captain Giroud
    B) gamble and captain Ramsey
    C) captain Sanchez and hope Ramsey/Giroud is enough of a differential

Cheers for the comments and help. Top site.

Ooh that's a big gap you're trying to bridge. I'd go option B - good luck!

Ya I know mate, one last throw of the dice. I'll prob gamble and go with Gru due to Rmasey injury risk.....not confident of a Gru hawl at all tho 🙁 .

i would cap'n ramsey 40-50 is a huge gap, you might as well try to gamble with sunderland players as well

I'm struggling to choose my third Arsenal player.

I already have Sanchez and Giroud, and am thinking either:

    A) Ramsey/ Cazorla (for Sterling) or
    B) Kos (for Moreno)

(Rate my Team says B is the best move)

    Thoughts?

Yeah, that's probably the sensible option - but with only two GWs left I can't help but be drawn toward the flair option of 3 attacking players!

That's because RMT seems to think sterling is the next Gareth bale

Very true! RMT doesn't seem to put much weight on Sterlings lack of form. Still, CPL is a decent fixture.

Form is temporary. Class is permanent. Sterling lacks either imo.
