March Claims FPL Crown

After yet another tense final day, Fantasy Football Scout member, Simon March (aka “Dufflinks”) has claimed the Fantasy Premier League crown.

While the day didn’t quite match Tom Fenley’s single point drama of last season, Simon’s lead was put under real threat by Jon Sumner, aka “Jinswick” who, at the half way stage, looked as though he was going snatch top spot at the death.

Jon had transferred in Theo Walcott and Diego Costa and both stormed to handsome hauls to see him close the gap and claim second spot. However, unfortunately for Jon, he chose to put the armband on Costa rather than Walcott and, in the end, Sergio Aguero’s late goal for Simon ensured that he held on to win by a 21-point margin.

The day brought an end to what has been an outstanding season for Fantasy Football Scout community members, who have tussled for superiority at the top of the rankings for many weeks.

Simon (Dufflinks) has been on these pages since 2012, while Jon (Jinswick) goes back even further. With Kev Gleave, Mariusz Fyrstenberg, Jack Wain, Stuart Greenacre and AbuBakar Siddiq also members of our leagues or posters on the site, allegiances have been split as we entered the final Gameweeks. Those guys all claimed top ten finishes.

Huge congratulations go out to Simon, who, after rising to the summit back in Gameweek 23, becomes the second full Fantasy Football Scout member to claim the crown after Tom’s victory last season.

We will be catching up with Simon in the end of season ScoutCast next week so look out for that and be sure to listen in.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Moreno but also depends if BR stays and what formation we play.

Flannagan is signed a new contract but is out till Christmas with an injury

I'm just not sure about Moreno. He has looked so damned average every time I see him play. What do you think ?

          2. Licky
            • 11 Years
            8 years, 11 months ago

I'm not sure, could he play at right back? I still think Moreno needs his chance to learn defensively and in a system where the players are actually told how to defend. Right Back is where there may be an opening with Flanno's injury.

            1. djenzio
              • 9 Years

                8 years, 11 months ago

Flanno? I'm pretty sure he's naturally a RB despite being very capable at LB.

                  • 9 Years
                  8 years, 11 months ago

I meant Garbutt is a left back but just saw you saying he could play RB

Flan can play both and such a shame he is injured again..

Ibe has been great as a right wing back but would like to see him more forward.

how would we line up next year with Garbutt?

                  Moreno/Garbutt Ibe
                  Sakho Skrtel Can

unless Garbutt can play on the right and Ibe goes further forward?

                  1. Licky
                    • 11 Years
                    8 years, 11 months ago

Oh, I'm not sure if Garbutt can, I was wondering, mainly because I think Moreno, and most of the players deserve the chance to be managed correctly under the right person. I would play 4 at the back, something like Moreno Sakho Lovren Garbutt, Skrtel is the real problem in that area, no communication, drops too deep and is prone to rash decisions and challenges, as well as being poor aerially.

                    1. Licky
                      • 11 Years
                      8 years, 11 months ago

Ibe would be further forward too, Sinclair hopefully up front.

                        8 years, 11 months ago

I think Skrtel was great for periods this season in the middle of back three but mainly because he was being 'carried' by the other 2

not sure if Can is better in defence or mid

also Lovren is trash and would rather Sakho and Skrtel

Sakho can also play left back, if it's a more defensive role as oppose to a wing back type left back

agree Moreno deserves a proper chance.

                      2. Licky

                        8 years, 11 months ago

Yeah, Skrtel does tend to look good without actually being good, It's difficult for sure, however we won't know until a new manager comes in and decides for himself who he wants to keep or not.

      I went out for lunch.
took kids to the swimming pool.
then watched planes 2 before we put them to bed.

      Strange question..

Problems. No doubt. A couple of full backs would be nice, but since that's not going to happen, maybe just stick with 3-4-3, which worked okay defensively between January and March. Not so much recently...

It's been a shambles these past couple of months. Definitely a worry. I just think there have been enough periods of good football over the past couple of years to warrant some more time, particularly as we've played all season without a decent striker. I'm not sure how much sway BR has on the transfer committee, but Lambert and Balotelli have been disasters.

Sturridge and Suarez partnership made that team what it was. Without them I wouldn't have expected much better this season. I do think Rodgers is a decent manager but after the way things have gone I'm not surprised pool fans want rid.

RVP and Falcao were successively in my team for 11 weeks (if that makes sense) while Kane was running riot. Lost hope for the season around that time.

Was 8th at one point in December and realised it is v hard to stay up there and small mistakes such as not owning Austin/ benteke during a dgw 31 or not owning silva all year can cost you very dearly with so many chasing. Many congrats to simon march, his decisions must have been near perfect.

Wonder who the next Liverpool manager will be, if/when BR gets the axe. FSG sounded out Frank de Boer last December so would imagine he could be a potential replacement.

Benitez probably off to Madrid and I think Ancelotti is too good to be managing a Europa league side.

Unai Emery, Klopp. FDB, Rudi Garcia? Someone with a proven track record would be great.

still think I want BR for another season. There were a few months this season where we looked very good and it could have been all been very different.

Emery or Klopp are the best available, though would be incredibly difficult to get given our current state, if FSG can sort it out and get the structuring of the club right, bring in a good DoF like Monchi then its possible, but it really is an awful state, don't underestimate that or hold your breath for either of the two I mentioned. :/

The only thing that gives me hope about Klopp is that he has 1 or 2 choices. Unai Emery would be brilliant but if he wins the EL with Sevilla then you'd presume he'd stay on. Can't do much worse than Rodgers anyway. And I agree, a DOF is a must.

Yes they were. A through ball into space was the plan for Suarez, Sterling and Studge to run on to...Balotelli wants it to feet all the time. He was a total mifit of a signing

BTW...Coutinho was top for through balls last season with Gerrard and Hendo not far behind...It was a plan that worked.

Yes...for certain. It's great when you can see a manager, and a team, with a plan. BR playing on the break last season, Pulis and his fleet of buses...even BFS and his hoof up to a big CF...What is inexcusable is when a manager just puts together 11 players and hopes they beat another 11 in a sort of hit and hope mentality.

This Liverpool team right now is exactly that..no gameplan..

I sometimes wake up and can't believe we let Suarez go.

I know. It's not worth any money letting him go, but you know he would have downed tools and sulked like he did the summer beforehand. But even that would have been better than what we have now.

Very difficult to keep somebody like him when Barca come knocking. The biggest mistake was not getting Remy.

Newcastle with Remy played the same game with Cabaye being the top player for through balls in the league before he left...and Remy prospered. That was the player they should have signed.

                  yeah i know

i think if Suarez didnt have the World Cup incident we might have kept him, that was a big part of letting him go

honestly think he is the best player to grace the PL. he nearly won us the league, he made that team play way above their weight.

He was fantastic. Not just a great player but you could see him teeing up the younger players for goals as well...top stuff.

So, this talk of Ings and Benteke... can't see either of them fitting in seemlessly either.

Tekkers doesn't seem very pacey and agile. Making the Lambert/Balotelli mistake again?

Yes...It means rethinking how they once played with those three pacey strikers on the break. A manager shouldn't be having to do that.

They've lost that particular plot now. Lala (good player) Balo, Lambert, Moreno, Can, Markovic etc don't fit that mould that they had. BR has blown it on a group of misfits without a plan...even though some of them are good players in their own right.

Maybe BR will write another 1000 page dossier this summer.

He was never THAT awesome, for City, just young and therefore overhyped.

Not a good in play striker, excellent at striking a dead ball.

I don't think he was ever awesome IMO.
