Pryor Clinches Sky Crown

After revealing that one of our members, Simon March, walked away with the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) crown, we’re also delighted to announce that Geoff Pryor has emerged triumphant in the Sky Sports Fantasy Football game.

Geoff’s team, “Right Doesn’t Know”, finished 30 points ahead of his nearest challenger and wins him a cool £30,000 for a season’s work. As evidenced by his performances in the Sun Dream Team game last season, when he finished fifth overall, Geoff clearly is something of an all-round Fantasy Football expert.

Fantasy Football Scout supplied three of the top five managers for the Sky game. Katie Burgin took fourth spot on 2440 points, whilst John Eaton finished in fifth on 2432 points. Katie and John earn £1,000 and £500 from Sky for their performances.

Thanks to their endeavours, we successfully defended our crown in the “League of Leagues”, which comes with a £2,500 prize – the top five managers in the FFScout league will receive £500 apiece as a reward.

Our FFS Contributors and Moderators league will be hoping to challenge for the title next year after finishing tenth this time out, with our resident Sky expert Disable and myself earning a place in the top 100 overall.

Look out for an interview with Geoff later in the week as he discusses his successful campaign.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

I think Myhill has to remain at 4.0m because they have to take into account he won't play unless there's an injury

5.0 and 4.5 I reckon. Myhill should hopefully not be as highly priced as he's still 2nd choice. It just so happens that 1st choice is injured

Hard to say as he was recovering from a serious injury so he was in and out

a lot depends on who Pulis buys as Lescott is a terrible LB

Didn't this happen with Sunderland (I think a few seasons back) when their reserve 'keeper became the main keeper from the beginning of the season and it wasn't reflected in the price?

Bit of re-classification needed to liven things up. Rooney and Ivan should be mids. Alexis and Haz forwards. Think it would be better to have 6 attackin/mid slots in the game and no strikers. The best players/scorers (Messi, Suarez, Ronaldo) are no longer classic-type strikers with a few exceptions like Aguero.

Ivan is a full back! Just cos he gets forward you can't change him. Rooney has played as striker again recently.

I suggested a revolutionary system a while back which had...

      GKs
Defensive players - current defenders plus defensive MIDs - get CS points like defenders do now
Attacking players - attacking MIDs plus current strikers.

      It received mixed response!

I'm tired of struggling for quality strikers and fielding the likes of Gru and Pelle while having to exclude good mids; eg Mane and Carzola. Be great to be able to directly transfer eg Pelle to Mane.

    3. yer_ould1
      • 9 Years

Ivan starts at right-back. Hazard and Sanchez do most of their work coming from midfield. Messi, Suarez, and Ronaldo aren't strikers, but they are still all forwards.

disagree. Attacking defenders (Ivan, Baines, Coleman, ...) should remain as defenders just be higher priced given risk/reward of attacking points. Rooney might be classified as a midfielder, as his striker days are clearly over. Depends on how LVG lines them up in preseason fixtures

Most of the time they're 4m because they're not starters though. Takes a few weeks to find the 4m starters and even then there's always the threat of a transfer coming in for that team to nick the position

I tend to start off with 2 fairly big forwards - Rooney and Costa this year.

Wanting Aguero (which I will if he's ready to go) will make that hard though.

Until Harry Kane I've almost never considered giving someone that cheap in my team the armband. But you don't buy your cheap striker for armband purposes.

              Me too.

Although, with only 3 striker spots up front a *rule* of mine is that they all should have the potential to be a captain.

Examples, like Lukaku, Giroud, Lambert etc... could all wear the armband in the right matchups but, the Holt's or Odemwingie's wouldn't ever be considered.

I don't really have that rule myself but if I've gone for a striker around 5-6m~ I will always play them. The cheap midfielder will be my bench fodder.

                Kane v Chelsea 😀

That's a point, since he hasn't played at all, could he be a cheap one to get next season? What price would we expect him to be?

Apparently if Lambert wants to leave the club will allow him, if he actually gets played properly by his manager he could be a decent shout once again.

Carroll was 5.5 in 2009/10, had a fantastic first half to the season at Newcastle. Then he went to Liverpool and his season died a bit of a death.

I think he had a full (great) season at Newc, then went to LFC in Jan 12? (same time as Suarez)

I got my date wrong - it was 2010/11 he had a good first half of the season at Newcastle, but it was only half a season wasn't it? He moved to Liverpool in January 2011. I remember owning him when he scored a hat-trick against Villa in week 2.

Yeah you could be right. I'm not great on remembering recent seasons. I could probably quote all the score from Espana 82 and struggle to name any from last year's WC 🙂

I'm actually happy I didn't buy Tadic in the end.

In GW6 I decided that I would make no transfers in GW7 and then I'd get Tadic and Baines (true story). In the end I didn't do that because Tadic rose in price if I recall and I ended up doing PvA to Duff instead.

Obviously I missed out on a big haul but I got Pelle and Baines the week after. Don't think Tadic did much after GW8 and I would have been stuck with him. Missed out on a big haul but longer term I think it was okay.

Slightly annoying at the time that a transfer I'd planned 2 GWs ahead ended up like that though!

The LFC Echo article suggests that Rodgers will be given the opportunity to convince the board that he is the right man for the job, rather than the sky sports article suggesting that his job is safe.

    Next Season Prediction time...

Look for Everton FPL assets to bounce back in a BIG way.

Europa League always kills the overachieving mid-table teams from the year before.
Post-Michu's Swansea, Newcastle a cpl years ago, & now Everton.
Then when the sched changes back to just one game a week everything's much more manageable again.

Conversely, look for Southampton FPL players to have a rough go of it.
Really tough (& the stats show) to play a Thurs night away game & then try to go out & score a bunch of goals on the Sunday.
