Scout Picks

The Scout Picks – New for 2015/16

Having experimented with a new system for the Scout Picks last season, once again, we’re tweaking the setup for the forthcoming season – hopefully for the better.

We’re still giving you, the Fantasy Football Scout community, the opportunity to get involved and take on our lineup.

We have, however, decided to scrap the weekly vote which, at times, could sometimes result in spam comment posting and the occasional exploit.

Instead, we’re turning to a lottery to select a community member to select their picks in each Gameweek.

If you wish to submit a Scout Picks squad and be the community’s champion in the forthcoming Gameweek, you’ll need to submit your details via this form.

Twenty-four hours later we’ll announce the selected champion and he/she will then have until Thursday afternoon to submit their picks.

This will then go head-to-head with our squad, which will be selected using the old traditional method of argument and discussion behind the scenes – at which point I’ll put my foot down and pick Leighton Baines regardless. So there will only be one set of Scout Picks from us this season.

We’re also planning a couple of new articles, centred around the Scout Picks.

We’ll bring you a Provisional Scout Picks selection on Tuesday detailing our early thinking. This article will also be used to announce the community champion for that week.

We’re also planning a new ad-hoc article that will reveal some of the discussion and tension going on behind the scenes, as a way of letting you get a view of our own selection process and any particular dilemmas in a given Gameweek.

Then, on Friday, you’ll get the final Scout Picks from us and your champion.

We’re still offering a prize alongside this process. The community member who beats our picks by the biggest margin over the campaign will win a £100 Amazon Voucher and a place in our Contributors and Moderators League for the following season.

How Do I Get Involved?

Would-be community “Champions” must put themselves forward by submitting their details on the Scout Picks Champion Entry form.

We will create a community article on Monday each week to announce that applications are open and link to the form.

An applicant will be chosen at random the following day and announced in our Provisional Picks article.

The successful community “Champion” must supply their final Scout Picks XI to Jonty (jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk) by 3pm on Thursday of that week. They have the option to tweak their Picks until 3pm on Friday.

Community Champions may seek the help and advice of others on the site once announced.

Should the community “Champion” fail to provide an initial or final Scout Pick selection, then an “Assistant Manager”, chosen by us, will gain control of the selection to represent the community for the Gameweek in question.

What do I need to do if I become the Community Champion?

You must select an Fantasy Premier League squad of 11 players in any valid FPL formation and using the regular FPL rules – eg: only three players per team permitted.

We will set a budget for your XI. Initially, this will be 82.5 and will increase as the season progresses and prices rise.

You may consult with the community in order to gain advice on building your Scout Picks for the Gameweek.

You do not need to submit any test to accompany your Picks but we may use a contribution should you wish to submit up to 200 words.

How Will the Scout Picks Be Scored?

We will total up the FPL points for both our Scout Picks and the community’s Picks.

No captain will be applied.

No chips will be applied.

Are there any other rules?

Yes there are. Plus, we reserve the right to make up some more along the way once we get started.

For now, we’re stipulating the following:

  • Community Champion Nominations must be registered users on Fantasy Football Scout and must not be under moderation at the time.
  • Scout Picks cannot be posted as a nomination on behalf of another user.
  • Nominees must be willing to supply a valid email address for contact throughout the selection process.
  • Any nominee or Champion voted by the community, who is later put under moderation, will not be considered for that Gameweek.
  • We reserve the right to change and overrule the selection of the chosen Community Champion at anytime.

We are now accepting applications for Gameweek 1 so head over to the entry form if you fancy getting your name in the hat.

You have until 2pm on Tuesday to get your application submitted.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

My main dilemma at the minute. I really think B will outscore A, but when it's written down with the 0.5 added...looks like a no brainer of A.

    A - Richie + Sakho + 0.5m
    B - Payet + Wilson

    Thoughts?

If forced to play Wilson every GW then I'd be tempted by A.

3 out of 4 players unknown makes it very hard to call.

New manager + Europa exploits for the one player we do know makes it even harder.

      Coin toss.

From the bottom of a few pages ago:
    A) Start with Rooney and Fabregas and swap for Kun and a 7.0 when the time is right
    B) Just start with Kun and a 7.0

Give B a 4 point headstart. All depends which Aguero is playing.

Even if he starts on GW2, i dont think its easy game. will he score? blank more possible on GW1+GW2. (i'm Kun FAN, but i dont think its a good start at all)

    Today is my birthday
As a birthday gift would you guys give your opinions on my team?

    Ruddy | Butland

    Ivanovic | Cedric | Jenkinson | Huth | O'Shea

    Hazard | Ramsey | Milner | Chadli | Ritchie

    Rooney | Benteke | Deeney

I have 0.5 in the bank so could bring in Walcott or maybe upgrade a defender.

Would downgrade jenkinson to another 4.5.

Downgrade Milner to Sinclair or Fletcher and upgrade Ritchie. Or are you playing 3-5-2 every week?

Very solid. I like Cedric + Jenk. I'm currently on Clyne and 3 x 4.5 defenders, think I will switch to this. Will you be playing 352 or 343? My only suggestion would be to do Ivan -> Azpi and upgrade Deeney. Then you'd still have 0.5 for possibly Walcott.

How long into the season before the Walcott love goes sour?

I say he doesn't even get off the mark. Think he'll be rotated with Giroud, plus when Sanchez returns he'll get even less game time?

Or am I just too biased against Walcott?

Walcott's one of those players: he'll have either stung you badly in the past, or won you a mini-league.

He's done both for me, and I think I'm risking starting with him.

I'm more interested in the second part of your statement. That's the premise on which everything else is based.

So far I don't think there's anything to suggest that he'll be a regular fixture this season. Would love for someone to prove me wrong

Well when he bangs in a hat trick against a weak team then this site will go into meltdown.

Personally I think his minutes will be unpredictable but the promise of playing as a striker at home means he can be explosive.

Seems like fixture quality and selection certainty point to Sakho being good value at 6.5

Speaking to BFM TV in France, Giroud said, “I was a bit disappointed not to start but Theo had scored against Wolfsburg.

“Once the team is fine and we win. It doesn’t matter whether I’m on the pitch or on the bench. In any case, I got on the pitch and gave my all, as usual.

“I could have scored but I was a bit unlucky. On a personal level, I have no problem, I’m happy where I am and I’ll compete with Theo.”

    Last Mahrez conundrum I promise.

    Is he worth to have?

By downgradeing Mane to Mahrez I could get Pelle instead of Sakho and Azpi for Jenkinson

That's a pretty leftfield call. Hope it works out for you!

How come he's now a secure starter? Is there an injury I don't know about?

I don't think I'm ever likely to get him mixed up with those 3. But I see what you mean. I'm feeling the same way about Matt Ritchie.

Ritchie is one of those player I'd really like to punt on but I can't make myself pay 6m for a player I've only watched on YouTube. And on there he doesn't even look particularly good 😳

        Hope he does well!

By GW5 we'll either all have him or no-one on here will have him. It won't be anywhere in between.

He was fine when he played but he was a nightmare with rotation, injuries and all sorts of problems in the end, and he wasn't even that cheap iirc

Aah I forgot he was in WHam, never seen him play outside of Italy and he is always a delight to watch.

    A) Hazard, Mertesacker, Mahrez
    B) Fàbregas, Koscielny, Milner

The latter midfielder will be rotated.

Anyone fancy Fernandez instead of Williams? Decent stats and baps last year.

For the same price you may as well go for williams , unless you want to stay away from the crowds

Anyone willing to roll the dice on Oxlade Chamberlain? I think he will get similar minutes as Theo in first 3-4 game weeks.

Isn't Sanchez returning earlier than week 3?
Might start the first game, will be nailed on for some cameo's after that

Yeah Alexis should be in squad for GW2. Personally I rate Ox higher than Theo. but yeah I see your point.

    a) Fab + Costa
    b) Sterling + Costa
    c) Hazard + Lukaku

Or any other combinations for around 20m?

Get some in before GW 1 as you will miss out on all their goals and clean sheets
