Injuries

The Treatment Table – Gameweek 2

Once again, there was a minimal amount of new injuries over the weekend’s matches for Fantasy managers to fret over, with Jose Mourinho and Mauricio Pochettino playing down concerns after withdrawing Harry Kane and John Terry respectively. Steve McClaren is a manager with worries, however, with injuries in midfield, while his first choice right-back will miss their Gameweek 3 trip to Old Trafford through suspension.

Chelsea
Jose Mourinho denied John Terry picked up an injury in today’s loss at City after being subbed off at the break. Perhaps tellingly, this was the first time in Terry’s career under Mourinho that he had been replaced mid-match, with the Blues boss explaining:

“No [he was not injured], it was a decision I made. I know that Zouma is the fastest in the squad, and in that moment Manchester City were playing on the counter attack. Zouma is different than John, and my decision was proved right as Zouma was in complete control. I left him out because tactically we needed to make a change, and I was proven right as we controlled the game in the second half.”

Mourinho also stated post-match than Oscar, who missed the Etihad trip, remains a doubt for the Gameweek 3 trip to West Brom…

“Oscar’s injury isn’t a big one but it stops him from playing today and probably next week”

Leicester City
Back-up stopper Mark Schwarzer missed yesterday’s win at West Ham due to illness, the club’s official twitter feed confirmed.

Newcastle
Steve McClaren has concerns in midfield for the trip to United after Moussa Sissoko was withdrawn at the break against Swansea due to a groin problem. The Magpies boss also explained Siem de Jong’s weekend absence:

“We lost a big player in Moussa. We don’t know the seriousness of it yet…We think it (De Jong injury) is just a kick on the shin which flared up. He nearly made it (in time) but unfortunately didn’t (but) it should not be too bad.”

Sissoko has since tweeted on his injury, confirming an adductor problem.

Tottenham
Mauricio Pochettino played down his second-half withdrawal of Harry Kane in yesterday’s draw with Stoke. The Spurs boss confirmed Kane’s problem was no more than cramp, having started training a little late due to his Euro U21 exertions with England:

“Harry was very tired and had some cramps in his calf, so to take the risk with the score at 2-0, I didn’t think it was a problem to take him off. He came later in pre-season and it is normal. He is better but he needs time to arrive. We knew before the end of last season Harry Kane would play a lot and the consequences you can see now. This is the truth, at 2-0, after 65 minutes, I think it was enough for him. We don’t take risks with his body”.

Swansea
Garry Monk remains optimistic that Ki Sung-Yeung will return to action for next week’s trip to Sunderland. The Swans boss refused to take any chances with the South Korean at home to Newcastle, after he was forced off with a hamstring injury away to Chelsea last week:

“It wasn’t really [right] to take the risk with him. Of course he’s pushing to play, but I think we’ll give him that little bit more time. He’ll be back in training next week ready for the Sunderland game.”

Suspensions

Newcastle are set to be without Daryl Janmaat for the trip to United after the right-back received his marching order for picking up two yellow cards away to Swansea. Discussing his upcoming absence, the Dutchman – who was booked on both occasions for incidents involving Jefferson Montero – owned up to his Liberty folly:

“I’m very disappointed. It was stupid of me and I have to apologise to my team-mates, the supporters and everybody, because trying to win a game with ten men is very difficult. The first yellow card was clear. The second one, I lost the ball, he (Montero) ran past me and in a split-second I touched him. I pulled him back and that was stupid.”

West Ham are set to be without Adrian for the next three league matches after the Spaniard’s weekend dismissal at home to Leicester. Dismissed for serious foul play after an incident with Jamie Vardy, the Hammers keeper will miss clashes against Bournemouth, Liverpool and Newcastle before returning to action in Gameweek 6 away to Man City. Darren Randolph (4.5) is set to deputise in his absence.

Using both his WC and triple captain is why he's 7k. And he still needs repair work to his team.

I wouldn't say most. The the knee jerkin herd on here."Most" will still have it in tact along with a team that doesn't need reshaping.

I think this report may turnout to be as much BS as the Ramos to UTD reports.

If Mangala had been leaving hia mind would have been in turmoil following the previous day's reports of his being part of a swap deal so either he wouldn't have been picked or if he would have played like his mid was elsewhere had his mind. Clearly it wasn't...

      Did you WC last week?

Find it hard to believe after two transfers you have Yaya, Romero, Kompany, Mangala, Ayew, Payet & Gomis.

So this means you are already needing to mess your team around just two weeks in?

After 2 awful gameweeks and losing 0.1 on Walcott I decided I needed to bite the bullet and make changes before I lose more value and it's too late to get players in, so I've done:

Sterling, Walcott & Fabregas > Sanchez, Silva & Mahrez (-8)

    Cech
    Ivanovic | Cresswell | Cedric | Coates | Oxford
    Sanchez | Silva | Mane | Mahrez | Fletcher
    Aguero | Sakho | Wilson

Mahrez maybe chasing points but hopfully he will at least gain 0.2 to get me the 0.1 I've lost back.

    Look good?

[DANIEL EXETER] Why not Payet over Chadli? Appears to be key to West Ham attack.
[Siva] not sure if I need Sakho & Payet.. double attack..

[FREEMLAN] Why do you keep so much money itb? Your team looks good though!

2, if you don't use one when you have 2 you'll only have 2 next GW.

Need some help between my current team (linked) and this potential WC team:

    Courtois Butland

    Kompany Darmian Gomez Martin Francis

    Sanchez Silva Payet Mahrez Westwood

    Aguero Gomis Vardy

Worth it now or wait until next GW?

    Much appreciated.

Mane makes his own chances but he's wasteful.

Pelle will get chances but he's very wasteful.

I will be transferring Rooney out for Aguero, it's only a matter of when.

Take a -4 or wait one more week?

I could take a hit next week too and get Sanchez in as well. Thoughts? I'm at the very bottom of all my MLs, so what's a couple (possibly necessary) hits?!

I think he'll get one goal, but so could Aguero. Waiting means a likely 0.2mil swing (at least). I trust Aguero more.

Should I get rid of Coates (before he drops) for a Man City def for a -4? 0 free transfers and 4m in the bank.Planning to do this move anyway soon along with Ozil/Mane to Silva. Could wildcard already but would rather wait

    Rudd(y)
    Mert, Cedric, Huth, Coates, Oxford

Haven't we already weathered the storm with Hazard? his fixtures actually look good now..
wba CPL eve ARS new SOT AVL as the next 7 fixtures and all of them have looked leaky(even Pulis is not sure about his best team yet)
Or are we irrationally expecting Chelsea to score 0-5 goals over the next 7? 😆

They way i see it is he now has 36 games to reach his score of 230 🙂 .. leading to more ppg. Chelsea will have a strong reaction vs one of those clubs in the next few weeks. They cant keep getting 1 point every 2 games

wba may have kept a CS but they've looked shocking so far.. CPL never worry about defending much.. Everton beat a very poor Soton side but in general they've not suddenly become a great side. Can see 2+ goals a game for Chelsea tbh over that run. and Hazard will be involved

How do I look after using my two FTs?

    Ruddy Rudd
    Koscielny Azpilicueta Kolarov Huth Targett
    Hazard Mane Chadli Mahrez Bentaleb
    Agüero Benteke Sakho

No need to use the WC, right?

no need to wildcard what are you thinking for transfers?

  26. KJ-
    • 11 Years
    8 years, 8 months ago

Why did I wildcard? Why am I not waiting for these Chelsea players or Rooney to come good? Because they cost way too much to take up money and "come good."

    Why would you spend:
    7.0 on Ivanovich
    6.0 on Azpi
    11.5 on Hazard
10.5 on Roonery or 11.0 on Costa

    ...when you could spend:
    6.1 on Kompany or Smalling
    5.6 on Darmian
    5.5 on Kolarov or Shaw
5.0 on Williams, 10.0 on Silva
    8.6 on Yaya

...and your choice of the Tottenham or other sub-8.0 midfielders, as well as forwards like Lukaku, Gomis, etc. etc.

Just as you're criticising us for "knee jerking," I think it's just as fair to say that people who are holding have got some sunk cost fallacy going on. Rooney, Costa, and Hazard look lost. I'm not spending double digits on lost players. When they get their groove back, then they'll be considered.

Aguero hit the ground running. I expect my expensive players to do the same.

Could not agree more, I wanted to wildcard after gw1 after seeing how poor Rooney and Chelsea were but I convinced myself to wait and see what happens in gw2.

Well what happened is that almost everyone I would have brought in absolutely smashed it and my team is on 29 points.
