We turn our attentions to FantasyBet this evening as I continue my quest to turn my £100 pot into profit.
For those unfamiliar, the initial player prices and scoring system in FantasyBet are very similar to Fantasy Premier League, making it an accessible weekly and daily format for those who pay a lot of attention to the official game.
One of the key ingredients for finishing in the pay-out places in FantasyBet contests is a high-scoring defence – getting plenty of clean sheet points is just as important as picking the right accumulation of points scorers further up field.
Defenders and goalkeepers are also generally better value options, particularly in the teams with the premium big hitters like Chelsea and Manchester City. When budget options emerge from those teams such as Aleksandar Kolarov, Kurt Zouma and Liverpool’s Joe Gomez, they provide an inexpensive way (bearing in mind they are still at their original prices) to fit in the three-player quota, which can be difficult on weekends when many of the top sides have promising fixtures.
While in season-long games it’s defenders who often sit neglected on our benches, FantasyBet offers the chance to heavily back one or two teams at the back, while relying on the usual suspects to do the business at the other end of the pitch.

The Bottom Line
A first positive week in FantasyBet, with returns from four contests putting me up to £105.71 and in profit for the first time during the challenge. First place out of 27 entrants in the Saturday Doubleup game provided the biggest return of £6.00. The Scout Picks team returned £5.50 with a 24th placing from 148 participants in the FFScout League.
This Week’s Stake
Weekly games – First up, there’s a Cheap Weekly game with £100 guaranteed for a £1.10 entry. Then I enter a team into the Freeroll with another £100 of winnings guaranteed. There’s a league called LordOfTheIng’s for £1.10 with a progressive payout, so a team goes in there. I’ve also put in £1.10 for a Triple Up game after winning the head-to-head last week.
In addition, I’ve entered the Flash Freeroll with a £50 guaranteed pot. This week, each entrant gets a unique group of 60 players to pick from – FantasyBet call it a ‘Lucky List’, though that fortune depends on who you get and how quickly you can select the best players for the squad, with three minutes to pick a 15 from that limited pool.
There is a £500 Guaranteed weekly pot, with an entry fee of £22. I will monitor how many entries there are as it may well be worth the risk if there are not too many playing.
Daily games – I’ve entered the Saturday Double Up once again. It’s a £3.30 stake but, after coming first last week, I’m hoping for another return here.
Weekly Stake: £7.70. Current balance: £98.01
FFScout Picks League
I’ve created a £1.10 entry game in which I will enter our Scout Picks as closely as possible, given a 15-man squad is required. Just click here to go up against the Scouts.
Last week Omda prevailed in the £500 guaranteed FFScout pot, winning just under £40. Omda’s score of 73 points was just one point ahead of Delta86 and Prostnost in joint second. As mentioned above, the Scouts finished in 24th from 148 entries.
