Treatment Table – Gameweek 5

League leaders Man City have plenty to fret over this weekend, with Sergio Aguero, David Silva and Raheem Sterling all doubtful for Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Juventus. There’s worries in the red half of Manchester, too, after Wayne Rooney missed the 3-1 win over Liverpool with a hamstring complaint. Here’s our regular round-up of all the fresh arrivals onto the treatment table…

Crystal Palace

Damien Delaney is carrying a knock so was replaced by Brede Hangeland in the starting lineup against Manchester City, while Jason Puncheon was withdrawn at the 83-minute mark with a knock following a foul by Eliaquim Mangala.

Everton

Seamus Coleman and Muhamed Besic both sustained suspected hamstring injuries during Everton’s 3-1 win over Chelsea. Post-match, Roberto Martinez went on to say:

“We’ll have to assess Seamus and Mo and see how they are. But the important thing was that everyone who had to be alert and come on to the pitch was fully focused and I think the strength in the squad is starting to show now. Having those numbers helps you be consistent over the course of the season and clearly it showed today.”

Manchester City

Sergio Aguero was forced off at the 25-minute mark during Manchester City’s trip to Crystal Palace, having taken a strong blow to the knee from a crude challenge from Palace’s Scott Dann. Sky Blues boss Manuel Pellegrini implied that the Argentina international will be touch-and-go for their midweek Champions League tie against Juventus:

“It was an important kick on his knee. We’ll see if he can recover between now and Tuesday. It’s very difficult to say now. It’s important to see how he recovers. We’ll see.”

Aguero, meanwhile, took to Twitter last night to play down the seriousness of his withdrawal:

“Thanks everyone for your concern. I got a hard hit and it prevented me from playing more. It doesn’t seem to be a serious injury though.”

Earlier this evening, he gave another update on his condition:

“I had studies done today, to be completed tomorrow. We’ll have a clearer picture then”.

David Silva was ruled out of the Eagles clash by virtue of an ankle complaint, but Pellegrini is optimstic he’ll recover in time to face Juventus on Tuesday:

“Silva is out as I think it would be a risk for him to take another knock on his ankle. I hope he will be OK for Juventus.”

As for Raheem Sterling, the former Liverpool starlet is expected to shake of a minor hamstring injury:

“Raheem has a problem with his hamstring so I think it was a risk for him to play today. I hope he is 100% fit for Tuesday.”

Manchester United

Wayne Rooney was sidelined for the Red Devils’ 3-1 victory over Liverpool after suffering a hamstring problem in training. He is expected to miss their midweek tie against PSV Eindhoven, but Louis van Gaal believes he could be passed fit for their trip to Southampton next weekend:

“He is injured so we have to take care of him. I think he is very important for us and I don’t to take any risks so that’s why he doesn’t play today. I don’t think he will play against PSV Eindhoven, but maybe he shall play at Southampton. We have to wait and see if he can play against PSV because we still have three days to go.”

Stoke City

Jonathan Walters was not included in the Potters’ matchday squad at Arsenal due to a flare-up of his knee injury. Mark Hughes admitted that the Ireland international will undergo a scan in the coming days.

Tottenham

Nabil Bentaleb missed out against the Black Cats with an ankle injury and is expected to be ruled out for three to four weeks having suffered ligament damage.

Ryan Mason was involved in a heavy collision with Sunderland keeper Costel Pantilimon while he scored the winning goal. Mauricio Pochettino revealed after the match that Mason will undergo checks on Monday:

“We will assess Mason tomorrow. It was a big knock on the knee. It was a great goal and we showed how we try to play.”

West Bromwich Albion

Jonny Evans was taken off after 85 minutes against Southampton, although Tony Pulis later said that the new arrival likely just suffered cramping.

Targett has scored me 20 points.

More than Sanchez or Aguero. This is disturbing.

So are you guys waiting for when you have three unavailable defenders to play the All Out Attack, og would you just do it when it looks tasty?

Any. Given the huge variability of returns atm tasty isn't good.

If I had 3 out the I'd probably play it. If not I'll just use it at some random point in time.

    I got 42 points.

    Overall Rank: 18,415

Dropped from around the 4000 mark in the last 2 weeks, mainly as i moved to big hitters. Hoping this pays off finally from next week.

Although it's worse for a colleague...

He WC'd 2 weeks ago, then took a 44 pound hit in transfers on Friday and still scored 4 points less than me this weekend.. Nutcase

So I have 1FT. Which of these moves is best?

    A) Chadli > Shaqiri
Stoke have got Leicester, then Bournemouth both at home and nice fixtures after that too.

    B) Gomis > Diouf
Same reasoning above and the fact that I also have Ayew in my team from the Swans.

    C) Gomis > Diouf + Chadli > Coutinho (-4)
Reasoning above and Liverpool have got Norwich and Villa at home next.

He created 4 shots inside the box in the 25 odd minutes he played. That's equal to all Spurs players together in that match. Seen how Spurs lack creativity, that could earn him a start, and who knows, he could finally kick start his Spurs career.

I'd suggest Barkley. It's looking like no Mirallas + Cleverley means everything goes through him. On set pieces too no? Wish I had a stronger argument but it's between him & Lens and I don't think I have the balls to own a Sunderland player this season (yet...miss you Panti).

Only 5 games in but he's been consistent despite facing tough opposition.

      De Gea
Biased though - trying to be unbiased: I think he'll get more save points the Cech

      Bonus: He's cheaper

      Who's your other GK?

No need having an expensive GK combo IMO. So DDG + a cheapie.

I have 2 FTs and 1.0m in the bank. My midfield and attack is:

    Hazard, Sterling, Mahrez, Ritchie, Wanyama
    Aguero, Benteke and Pelle

The entire midfield except Mahrez are marked for an exit. Which is the priority?

    A. Sterling to Silva (injury permitting)
    B. Hazard to Pedro or Sanchez
    C. Ritchie to anyone but Ritchie

That won't be an FPL issue. The issue is on your end.

It doesn't help that we play at such a low tempo, I'd avoid any Chelsea for now. (and then there's me with Pedro lols)

I'd wait... only cos no one else is really lighting it up. Maybe reassess after his CL tie?

But I guess Costa>Vardy would be my suggestion.

        I'm thinking Benteke.

Solid shout. He should score in the next two games at least. LIV need to show some attacking intent. Henderson + Coutinho back should help.

Good move on paper. I'd still wait to see how Costa does. No pressing price rises /falls. Crazy season but Tekkers going crazy will go some way to fixing that.

Where should I look to use my transfer this week?

    --------- Fabianski ----------- Schmeichel ---------
    Clyne --- Dann --- Cedric --- Azpilicueta --- Baker
    Cabaye -- Pedro -- Depay -- Coutinho -- Mahrez
    ------- Benteke ---- Gomis ---- Rooney ----------

    1. Mata-Is-The-Juan

Azpilicueta>A City defender. Kolarov if you can. Sagna the cheaper option for now.

I'll also be keen to lose Memphis for one of Mahrez /Ayew /Payet /Barkley (in no particular order).

    A. Dawson (avl)

    B. Shaw (sou)

    Leaning towards Dawson atm.

Dawson with a gun to my head.

My other 3 are Azpi, Gomez and Kolarov if that helps

I'd honestly bench Azpi and play Kolarov/Shaw/Gomez/Dawson. If 4 at the back feels like overkill to you. *sigh* I guess bench Gomez.

0 goals and 0 assists, this week being the highlight with Aguero only getting one point.

Every week I'm tempted to go for a more punty captain, but then every week I have nightmares of missing out on an Aguero hattrick.
