The Weekend Team News

Laurent Koscielny is ruled out of Arsenal’s clash with United. Winston Reid emerges as a doubt for the Hammers. Palace are without four injured players for the visit of West Brom. Stoke are sweating on Xherdan Shaqiri’s fitness, Jordy Clasie returns to contention ahead of Southampton’s trip to Chelsea, whilst Claudio Ranieri admits that Jamie Vardy has played the last three league outings with a broken wrist.

Laurent Koscielny, Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini have all been ruled out of Arsenal’s home clash with United this weekend. Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Koscielny is expected to be sidelined for three weeks with a hamstring problem.

Slaven Bilic could be without Winston Reid at the weekend, with the defender doubtful after “feeling something in his back or hip area”. Andy Carroll is also a concern, and will be assessed having trained with the fitness coaches this week. Meanwhile, Angelo Ogbonna remains sidelined for the Sunderland clash. In more positive news, Enner Valencia has returned to full training following a knee injury though is still “a few weeks” away from being involved within the squad again.

Connor Wickham, Mile Jedinak, Joel Ward and Damian Delaney all remain sidelined for the weekend after missing out at Watford through injury .The quartet are expected to return against West Ham following the international break, according to Alan Pardew.

Claudio Ranieri has revealed that Nathan Dyer is back in training following a knee injury, though the weekend comes too soon for the winger. The Leicester manager has also confirmed that Jamie Vardy is currently playing with a broken wrist sustained against Aston Villa in Gameweek 5.

Xherdan Shaqiri faces a battle to be fit for the trip to Villa Park. The summer signing has failed to train this week with an ongoing hamstring complaint, whilst Marc Wilson is also a concern for the Potters with a calf problem. Mark Hughes has also confirmed that Ryan Shawcross is back in training with the reserves as he steps up his recovery from a back injury. The Potters boss is looking to organise a couple of friendlies to quicken up his skipper’s return to action.

Roberto Martinez has confirmed it’s still “too early” to decide whether injured pair John Stones and Seamus Coleman will be available for Sunday’s Merseyside derby.

Southampton have received a boost ahead of the trip to Stamford Bridge after summer arrival Jordy Clasie was passed fit after recovering from a hamstring injury.

Alex Neil has confirmed there are no new injuries for Norwich ahead of the home clash against Leicester. Youssouf Mulumbu is back in light training, whilst Gary Hooper is two weeks away from a return.

Brendan Rodgers has conceded there is “no real change with injuries” ahead of Sunday’s Merseyside derby. Christian Benteke is to be assessed over the next 24 hours but the squad is likely to be the same as last weekend.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream for breaking news – as the day unfolds, we will issue updates from Friday’s press conferences and refresh our Team News tab accordingly to keep you informed.

Toughie, logic says play Williams as he likes a bap and they are at home. I don't fancy Swa defence, though Spuds might be tired after Europe. Richards will likely concede though he' playing well. He's a good defensive first sub. Dawson a good option though the pace of Palace may open them up.

I know some of you have probably seen me posting all week. I've trying to make the most of TV out of my wildcard, and now that its Friday, I am going to try and start building my team from the bottom up. If you have any thoughts I would love to hear them.

Long term prospects please! I want to set up my team for the long haul.

    Midfield!

Sanchez is in for sure, I thought about getting rid of Mahrez but I couldnt do it. currently trying to choose between Payet/Kouyate, Mata/KDB, and a fifth mid.

    little help?

In that case priorities Gomez or Targett, as they're not starters. Then play whoever you swap them with alongside Clyne and Sanga.

Don't take a hit, not worth it for defenders.

Don't take a hit for a defender. It effectively makes a clean sheet a blank for the player you bring in. It's a poor value proposition.

      I'd lose Gomez for Alder

I wouldn't go for Zouma. Chelsea are poor defensively atm and Zouma could get rotated with Terry any time.

That's only the case if you're looking only at the 1 gameweek. It's not always a bad decision if it's for the long term

That can be true sometimes. For instance, you feel like you're always one transfer behind where you want to be. I think people talk about the 'long term' a lot but the reality is everything is short term in this game. You have a rough plan but form changes, injuries happen and you rarely execute the plan you intended. I just concentrate on the next four GW's.

A good exercise for determining your success with hits is to record the positive/negative impact they have on your score over the course of a season. For most people, they won't like the results. I take hits on occasion but you need a better reason than 'it makes my team look better'. It's nice going in to the weekend loving the look of your team but I stand by the fact that hits for playing defenders is almost always a poor move.

Gomez to Alderwierald, and play Sagna and Clyne with him. Not ideal, but no point in taking a hit imo. Next week look to get rid of sagna, and the week after look to get shot of Clyne.

At the risk of sounding too officious, in future, you should be looking to have 2 defenders that are nailed on season long so you don't suddenly have half a defence at risk of losing their place.

      1. Bivash
        • 9 Years

    GTG??

    Butland
    Williams Azpi Kolorov
    Shaqiri Mahrez Yaya Pedro
    Sakho Martial Aguero (C)

    Myhill Cameron Redmond Gomez

Cameron and Redmond to come on if Shaqiri and YYT don't play.

    With a front 8 of:
    KdB, Pedro, Mahrez, Ayew, Barkley
    Kun, Vardy, Martial

Am I right to bench Ayew?

Have a feeling that Eve will score plenty this week

Any Ward owners around? Read on twitter that he was expected to return this weekend but he's still red flagged on fpl..

ACD...but wba's defence could be unpredictable with no Olsson & McAuley. so maybe B over C

Worth taking a hit to transfer Koscielny out for another defender?

I have Francis, Kolarov, Cédric and O'Shea as my other defenders right now so there's room
for improvement to say the least.
