The Big Numbers – Midfielders – Last Four Gameweeks

After delving into the Gameweek 5-8 data for Defenders yesterday afternoon, we now set our sights on the midfielders. Arsenal’s in-form duo arrive under analysis, whilst we also cast an eye over City and West Ham’s summer signings and analyse the recent displays of Southampton’s wide men as the fixtures turn in their favour.

Any chance Costa will be on pens - from memory I believe Hazard missed the last couple.

Was Costa on the pitch when Oscar took the last one?

naah, mourinho claimed its Hazard's decision whether he wants to take them or not

Does that mean Haz decides to let Oscar take the last one?

Fair enough. So it's Hazard's unless he decides to pass them on. Cheers

    Best option here?

    A) Kun -> Costa/Bony/Lukaku
    B) Sinclair & Kun -> KDB & Lukaku (-4)

    Sanchez, Mane, Pedro, Mahrez, Sinclair
    Aguero, Pelle, Vardy

Bank 0.6m, 1FT, Both WCs available (planning a GW11/13 WC)

      • 10 Years
      8 years, 6 months ago

I quite like B with WC available, who's you bench this week? Or AOA?

        AOA already wasted 🙁

        Ruddy
        Bellerin, Kolarov, Huth
        Sanchez, Mane, Pedro, Mahrez
        Kun, Pelle, Vardy

        Rudd, Sinclair, Coates, Targett
        Bank 0.6m

Given the GW11 WC plan I'm edging towards A) with Costa and then Pedro -> Wally next week.

If going B) though, I could potentially save the WC as would have 2 decent MCY + Lukaku

Don't mind taking a hit if Aguero is out for 3+

    Butland
    Kolarov Gabriel Williams
    Sanchez Walcott Mata Payet
    Pelle Vardy Sturridge

    Hennessey Mahrez Nyom Gamboa

    Think I'm sorted.

I was struggling with where to spend my money before this injury, now it'll just have to sit in the bank earning no interest.

            • 9 Years
            8 years, 6 months ago

That's a nice safe alternative for sure. But if this injury is in the realm of 8-10 weeks, then there's just too many good options with great fixtures now. Mata/Martial, Lukaku/Barkley/Coleman, Cedric/Mané/Pelle, KdB/Silva/Bony, Sánchez/Bellerin/Walott. I'll have to use all my money on that.

Idk, if this is more long term, come Gw13 the likes of Mahrez & Vardy's fixtures turn for the worst. Surely by then more investment is warranted in your attack, no?

Palace, Newcastle, & Watford('til Gw16) are the only teams with cheap attackers that would interest me.

Oh sure, if he's out for more than two or three weeks I'll find ways to spend the money. But if he is only mssing a week or two then a large scale redistribution is unlikely and possibly counter-productive.

hence we should never make transfers at the start of international breaks, too many uncertainties. taking a 0.1 or 0.2 price drop is nothing compared to transferring in an injured player

Historically, Yaya as he'll (presumably) take the PK's. Though last year, it was really Silva who thrived in the hole with Jov/Milner up top. Getting into more attacking positions & with more attacking burden placed on him. Granted, the dynamic has changed now with both KdB & Sterling.

I think Kun went off as a precaution. The defender kicks his right knee and at the end he mildly grabs his left hammy. It looks like the guy kicked his knee pretty good which is probably why he was wincing so much. Twitter from Aguero later saying he is fine.

Costa raring to go after suspension against a Villa defense? Who is a better candidate? (I don't have KDB)

Hasn't been red carded once in his Chelsea career.

So yeah, it's a real possibility!

I can see logic behind that, if you're confident & have that gut feeling go for it. Don't let anyone stay you away 🙂

Yet, but Costa has been very poor thus far & has no form to back him as well. I really haven't seen anything good enough from him to consider captaining him. Not to mention he has very poor underlying stats to boot.

If I had Hazard, I'd take that option more seriously as he's shown more form in the field & just in general been more of a threat imo.

It would be a big risk if Aguero was fit, but the options that are left to me now means its not that big of a risk with potentially high rewards. I'm not confident though. May just go with Sanchez in the end.

aguero injury was awful for mancity titile hopes.....also for fpl coz i used my wildcard to get aguero in hahaaa

If you're on your wildcard now you're in a position to take maximum advantage if Agüero is out for a while.

true but i used the wildcard to bring him in..hos ownership was alarminging high and bouremouth and manu next 2 features means alot of goals haha.. :/

Depends how bad he is injured. I'm on my wildcard and was very happy with my team with Aguero in it. With Aguero out it is pretty much the same. If I strengthen my defence i'll have a hard time bringing Aguero back in if the injury is short term.

pretty tricky situation for wildcarders....cant use the.money elsewhere or no aguero in the near future... :/

Not at all. It's great for wildcarders as they can reinvest the money straight away. For everyone else, sell Aguero and that money is sitting idle unless you take a point hit.

true if aguero has a long term injury...but what about say 3 or 4 weeks... wildcarders will then haveto take hits to bring him back

They'd take hits to bring him back in, same as anyone who sold him would.

And if someone doesn't sell him, they've got 13m and a captain option on the bench scoring 0 each week.

Wildcarders do not have it harder than anyone else! By the time the deadline comes we'll all have a good idea whether it's two weeks or two months.

If only out for 1-2 weeks worth Pelle for -4 or run 3-5-2

Sanchez (c) Mane Payet Mahrez Barkley
    Vardy Ighalo (Aguero)
