The Weekly Shop – Gameweek 26

It’s time to visit the Weekly Shop this Wednesday evening, as we assess the player lists of our partner games to pinpoint the likely targets that will make up our own weekly squads.

As always, the player analysis is split into two sections: I’ll break down the key targets that no squad can do without in “Better Buys”, before seeking out those one-shot “Poundstretcher” prospects that can provide us points, whilst freeing up funds.

For this week’s selection, we’re focusing on the FantasyBet and DraftKing player lists.

Better buys

Fraser Forster’s (FantasyBet 4.5m, DraftKings $3,900) settling influence is unquestionable after Southampton registered a fifth successive clean sheet since his return from injury. Considering that a sixth shut-out at Swansea this weekend would equal the number kept in the 20 outings prior to his reinstatement, Saints fans will be wondering what could have been if their shot-stopper had been available all season.

Jose Mourinho’s departure from the Chelsea hotseat has coincided with a revival in Branislav Ivanovic’s (FantasyBet 6.5m, DraftKings $4,300) attacking output. The full-back had failed to produce any attacking points before the Special One parted company but has since served up a goal and three assists in the subsequent nine. Although the Blues have now conceded in each of their last seven at the Bridge, the visit of a Newcastle side that has netted once in four away trips gives the opportunity to chalk up a clean sheet.

Dimitri Payet (FantasyBet 7.5m, DraftKings $7,700) has been disappointing since recovering from an ankle problem, with a goal and assist at Bournemouth his only returns in five starts. The Frenchman assisted the winner in the midweek FA cup victory over Liverpool, though, demonstrating the effectiveness of his set-piece delivery, which is an important aspect of DraftKings scoring system. Payet’s 16 chances created and 47 crosses over those five appearances makes him an enticing prospect ahead of a visit to struggling Norwich.

Romelu Lukaku’s (FantasyBet 9m, DraftKings $7,600) pronounced presence on Jonty’s goals imminent table is a sound indicator that substantial returns could be on the cards as West Brom travel to Goodison Park. At Stoke, the Belgian scored a first goal in six league matches but has had 20 attempts over that period, with 16 of those coming from inside the box. The Toffees frontman could reap the benefits up against a Baggies defence that has conceded in seven straight matches away from the Hawthorns.

Poundstretchers

Watford travel to a Crystal Palace side that has lost three in a row at Selhurst Park and scored just three times in the last eight Gameweeks. Even if the Hornets concede, though, Huerelho Gomes (FantasyBet 4.5m, DraftKings $3,300) could be worth considering – he impressed in the narrow defeat at Spurs by making eight saves, a factor that we think is worth looking out for in Draftkings.

Bournemouth’s Charlie Daniels (FantasyBet 4.5m, DraftKings $3,900) has picked up a goal and two assists over the last four Gameweeks ahead of a home clash with Stoke. Whilst the left-back’s crossing should reap rewards in Draftkings, centre-back Simon Francis (FantasyBet 4m, DraftKings $2,500) is better priced if you’re unwilling to splash the cash, given that the Potters have failed to net in their last four outings. The Cherries, meanwhile, have kept two clean sheets in their last four at Dean Court, only conceding to top-six sides Arsenal and West Ham.

Sunderland have gone eleven matches without a clean sheet, conceding 23 goals in that porous run and look set to continue to leak goals. Weekend visitors Man United appear to have found some attacking fluency with Jesse Lingard’s (FantasyBet 4.5m, DraftKings $4,300) continued inclusion providing some much-needed width to stretch opponents. The youngster has scored three in five starts and offers a budget alternative to Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial.

Staying on Wearside, we’re also considering the home side’s new signing Wahbi Khazri (FantasyBet 6.0m, DraftKings $3,400), who made an immediate impression on his first start last weekend by providing the assists for both goals in a 2-2 comeback draw at Anfield.

We return to Bournemouth for our budget forward pick, Benik Afobe (FantasyBet 6m, DraftKings $4,800) – the winter signing may have blanked against Arsenal but goals in each of his three previous outings suggests he is clearly capable of producing the goods. Add to that a visit from a Potters side that have lost 3-0 in each of the last three Gameweeks and Afobe could be in line for a fourth goal in his sixth start for the Cherries.

These are the contenders for my weekly contest lineups heading into the midweek fixtures. Tomorrow I’ll also bring you up to date on my progress in FantasyBet, as I continue my quest for profit in the 2015/16 campaign.

In a draft league so limited options (the big hitters are taken) so looking for a third striker, currently have lukaku and iggy. Was considering Sturridge but i'm concerned about game time....any outsiders?

Are you needing someone for this weekend? OR beyond that?

I'd say if Sturridge isn't taken then you should be snapping him up. If he stays fit he's one of the best strikers on the game.

    Bottomed!

    Who would you captain:

    Lloris
    Ivanovic* -- VvD -- Baines
    Ozil* -- Mahrez* -- Payet* -- Alli
    Kun* -- Ighalo* -- Naismith*

    THE OPTIONS:
    __________________________________

    1) Ivanovic - NEW - good attacking AND defensive potential, but Zouma out.

    2) Ozil - LEI - no idea how this game is going to go but I see both teams scoring and Ozil is normally involved when Ars score

    3) Mahrez - ars - Hugely explosive, form getting better, loves away games, sensible maverick?

    4) Payet - nor - Integral to West Ham, great fixture, lots of injuries for West Ham, maverick pick.

    5) Kun - TOT - up against the league's toughest defence, but it's Kun, the default option

    6) Ighalo - cpl - good fixture, decent form, another maverick choice

    7) Naismith - WHM - hugely maverick choice, but WHM can't defend too well and have a few injuries, explosive player

CURRENTLY leaning towards Payet / Mahrez but having lots of doubts...

Ivan - agreed but he's still a defender in a week of many strong captain options. New are awful
Ozil - points might be spread across many players, less chance of baps, Lei def decent
Mahrez - same as above so equal with Ozil
Payet - only worry is form
Kun - Kun and if Spurs don't turn up he will enjoy himself
Ighalo - yeah but nothing to great
      Naismith - big punt

Kun for me, sorry very boring.

Narrowing it down to one of:

        Ivan / Payet / Kun

I'll flip a three way coin 🙂 I'll be playing Lloris and (if Baines doesn't start) I'll have Alder coming in too... So a bit nervous about Kun..

Yep.. for now it stands like I wrote. Why not?
Because everybody making unpolite remarks about him, doesn't mean I will be selling him right away. He plays Villa, who almost doesn't create. Ballerina plays Leicester who almost always scores. What is wrong in that?

        What are your arguments?

        1. Licious Lizard
          • 11 Years
          8 years, 3 months ago

          I completely agree with you.

As I see it the chance for an ARS CS is very slim this week against a Leicesrer team that has started scoring goals again. All the attacking returns we are waiting for with Belerin is just not enough of a reason for me the play him over the others this week.

Cresswell has a decent chance of a CS against Norwich with a chance of attacking returns as well with a very leaky Norwich defence.
Fonte for me is based on Soton's defensive form the last GW's. He has been getting a few baps as well, so here's to Swansea failing to score.
Moreno, as you mention is being criticized a lot, for a reason though. This is me simply calculating that Pool has a bigger chance of preventing Villa from scoring than Arsenal does with Lei. I am considering selling him after villa though.
My last def is Pieters, but I don't trust stoke defensively after the last 3 weeks.

Plus if you look at the stats, it isn't inconceivable that Moreno could get attacking returns either, which just justifies benching Bellerin even more imo.

We will see if Moreno owners will continue to be a joke after this GW

      Villa doesn't concede a lot at home. Last scores 2-0, 1-1, 1-0, 1-1.

      Arsenal scored 2, Leicester 1, City 0.

Choosing Leicester/Southampton defense/goalkeeper combo is damned hard:

    - Leicester have the best prospect for cleans sheets for GW27 and GW30. If going with Schmeichel,I could wait with bringing in Southampton defender

    - Forster probably the best goalkeeper, and choosing him over Schmeichel allow additional Southampton defender (due to Vahrez taking two Leicester spots)

In light of this, which would you prefer.

    A) Schmeichel + Southampton defender

    B) Forster + Southampton defender + Leicester defender.

    cheers

Had an absolute horror last week .. Benched Mahrez , Sold Lukaku , captained Sanchez , scored a paltry 34 .. Looking to bounce back this week .. Will this team cut it for me ?

    Lloris
    Williams Moreno Ward
    Sanchez(c) Payet Mahrez Arny
    Kun Martial Kane

    Subs: Kean,Alli,Morgan,Nyom,

    0FT,1.9 itb

Sanchez (C) let me down last week too, so I definitely wont be considering captaining him against Leicester!

      I'd consider captaining Payet.

Just going by their fixtures. I'd rather have a captain playing Norwich than Leicester.

If you've got AOA would be tempted to drop a defender and start Alli. City leaking goals at the minute and Alli is raking in the points away from home

Still stuck between Aguero and Lukaku. I've counted Sanchez out at this stage.

Anyone on here like a gamble?

Am currently pondering whether Costa could make up 9 goals on Vardy.

    Unlikely, but not impossible.

85/1 - would need Costa to gain 6/7 goals on him and then could take money out. Will give it some thought.

85/1 is a great price, I Would have thought it would be more around the 50/60s

Hi guys, really stuck on what to do with my transfer this week. (have 2FTs)

    Butland Hennessey
    Koscienly Alderweireld Williams Daniels Simpson
    Ozil Payet Mahrez Siggy Alli
    Aguero Kane Lukaku

Thinking about swapping Williams, but have gwk 30 in the back of my mind.

Any advice would be great, thanks!

    Lloris
    Baines - Ivan - VvD

    (Hennessey - Alder - Bellerin)

Set up correctly in your opinions? Alder first sub or Bellerin? Lloris or Hennessey?

WC and BB before DGW 37 for most? Means we may have very similar teams? Then TC on GW 34 on probably the same player?

That means punts in the coming weeks without chips can only make a difference!

Dunno...how many likely DGW teams each, in weeks 34 and 37? Might want to plan on BB'ing in 34.
