Scout Notes

Scout Notes – Gameweek 32 – Sunday

Wes Morgan grabs the only goal of the match as Leicester take a step nearer to the title with a fourth successive 1-0 win. Elsewhere, Anthony Martial leaps onto our double Gameweek radars by firing United to victory over Everton at Old Trafford.

Morgan wins it for Foxes

Leicester City stretched out their lead at the top to seven points by way of their fourth consecutive 1-0 win.

Wes Morgan did the damage for the hosts with his first goal of the campaign, latching onto Christian Fuchs’ cross. The latter now boasts four assists and has amassed the second-most bonus points (21) of any defender on the Fantasy market.

Although the Foxes lack a double Gameweek, they have now recorded shut-outs in seven of their previous eight home ties and remain at the King Power Stadium for two of the next three Gameweeks, encouraging investors in their defence to hold tight.

In the wake of his blank against Saints, Jamie Vardy has now failed to net in six successive starts, which will prompt a portion of his 54% ownership reinvest their funds in Romelu Lukaku before Everton’s back-to-back double Gameweeks.

As for Riyad Mahrez, his explosive potential (11 double-figure hauls) should deter many owners from maxing out on double Gameweek players.

Saints struggle on the road again

Southampton were stifled by the Foxes’ regimented defence and were only able to muster two shots on target throughout the encounter.

Ronald Koeman’s side have failed to score in three of their last five away matches and now hit the road in three of the next five Gameweeks, which includes trips to Everton and Spurs, in addition to a home encounter with Man City. Their lack of a double Gameweek and poor defensive record of late (nine goals conceded and zero clean sheets in six) render their squad a relative non-factor during the final stages of the season.

Martials notches United’s winner

Manchester United remain in the hunt for a Champions League berth as they carved out a third 1-0 victory in four outings.

Anthony Martial proved to be the difference between the two sides, bagging his third goal (Timothy Fosu-Mensah assist) in seven starts. Given that Wayne Rooney’s imminent return makes Marcus Rashford a rotation risk, the 7.6-priced Martial represents the choice route into the Red Devils’ attack for their mouth-watering double Gameweek (AVL & CRY).

Man United’s tenth home clean sheet of the campaign underlined the merits of targeting their defence during the double. On that note, both Daley Blind (fatigue) and Marco Rojo (jet-lag) were subbed off at Old Trafford, highlighting the fact that Chris Smalling and David De Gea are the safest options for Gameweek 33 wildcarders.

Out-of-sorts Toffees fail to impress

Everton suffered their third straight defeat and have now tasted victory just once since Gameweek 26.

Romelu Lukaku had an afternoon to forget against Louis van Gaal’s charges, mustering a solitary off-target attempt. Nonetheless, the Belgian marksman is sure to be one of the most popular pick-ups ahead of the Toffees’ aforementioned successive doubles in Gameweek 33 (wat &cry) and Gameweek 34 (SOU & liv) – indeed, he already ranks top for “transfers in” (62,000) at the time of writing.

For those eyeing up the Toffees midfielders, Aaron Lennon (5.6) was intriguingly handed a central support role behind Lukaku as Gerard Deulofeu started on the right wing. Lennon then switched back to the flank after the young Spaniard was withdrawn just after the hour mark.

Roberto Martinez switched things up at the back, benching Ramiro Funes Mori to facilitate John Stones’ reinstatement in a four-man defence. In terms of tapping into Everton’s backline potential, goalkeeper Joel Robles (4.3) is the standout pick by virtue of his budget price tag, while skipper Phil Jagielka (5.1) – who fired two attempts from inside the box yesterday – seems the safest route into the defence.

How much risk is there with playing WC this week rather then next?

      How do you mean?
Well first off, do you have your bench boost?

Risk of injury is infinitely greater - all your squad will have to get through at least one game - and some of them two. But you have more reward if you still have your bench boost.

That's the problem, new to FPL so didn't keep my BB unlike my more experienced ML rivals. Still ahead of them by 27 points so may get away with it, or not.

    Planning to go with 14.
My view point on owning Rashford for GW 34 is to treat him like a SGW player with an excellent fixture. A lot of people are keeping Kane as he's been doing so well which is one way of doing things.
I like the idea of owning Lukaku and Aguero with a UTD striker who is almost certainly at home to Villa, who, will also give you an extra 5.5m to spend on the rest of your squad.
What about the remaining fixtures and rotation? Well those WC this week will need to transfer out some of their UTD, West Ham, Everton players anyway.

Problem is, when you eventually have to transfer him out, requires a bit of work, as I assume you'll want a much more expensive forward

Really worried about losing Kane but how is this WC effort for this week?

Bench boosting next week and realise i'll be short in GW35 but happy to take a -4 or -8 max

    DDG - Robles
    Bellerin - Jagielka - Sakho - Darmian - Gabriel
    Coutinho - Payet - KDB - Sanchez - Lingard
    Aguero - Lukaku - Mitrovic

Maybe I should say I don't like double Everton defence, Robles plays a lot of games for a small price, whereas with Jags you are kind of hoping for attacking returns as Everton don't keep many CS. Could do better for 5.1 imo

Need to take a -4 hit to go from Vardy to Lukaku, as I'm 0.1 short of a straight swap.

I was thinking of going from Cresswell to Gabriel to make up the money, but below is the rest of my team if you have a better idea:

    DDG, Hennessey

    Cresswell, VVD, Olsson, Bellerin, Fuchs

    Payet, Alli, Siggy, Mahrez, Silva

    Aguero, Kane, Vardy

No guarantees that the cheapies won't outscore their more expensive counterparts.

The mere fact that you have a WC and are planning your moves means you can expect consecutuve green arrows in 33, 34 and 35 IMO.

Obscene indeed 😀 Don't think there'll be too many of them floating around though.

Is anyone worried about having a dysfunctional team for the remainder of the season?

Is anyone in the top 10k going all out with 15 DGWers?

Kane, far too many incredible options to keep Mahrez.

I got him from the start, makes me sad to lose him 🙁

Also, there'd be a 1m loss if I brought him back

Mahrez, Fuchs & Huth or Toby. Maybe Kane as well but he may have to go if I get Sanchez in.

14K, with 15 currently pencilled in, and a fair chance I go through with it. If I get any it will probably be somebody like Simpson as a price-enabler.

Mahrez I'm not worried by, Kane is the big threat for me.

    Hi there,

I’m getting lost with what’s wrong / right here. I’m top of all my leagues (followed closely by people below); however, I’ve used my bench boost and wildcard (a massive error I know). This is my first fantasy season and mistakes have been made.

In regards to maintaining first place, what’s the best thing to do with this team? I have 0.5ITB and 1FT going into Week 33. I’m either thinking of taking a whack to get these DGWs in, in which case, who? Who are my key targets and what’s the best, best strategy to follow? I’ve sat and had a good look at it all and still can’t work it out.

    De Gea / Hennessey

    Fuchs / Alderweireld / Williams / Wolly / Smith

    Arnie / Alli / Ozil / Mahrez / Siggy

    Aguero / Kane / Lukaku

      Williams -> Sakho for GW33
Alderwiereld -> Arsenal def for GW34

and a -4 maybe for Coutinho and Payet

    Noob.
My biggest rival had a TV of 108m with 1.7m in the bank last night.
Last night he had one player that changed price and that was -0.1m for Vardy.
Does this information tell me that he hasn't started wild carding?

It tells you that if he WCn then hes still got Vardy in his team.

If his TV hasn't dropped dramatically then he hasn't hit the WC yet.

No WC & got this team atm:

    DDG - Elliot
    PvA - Toby - Fuchs - Bellerin - Daniels
    Mahrez - Payet - Ozil - Siggy - Arnie
    Lukaku - Kane - Lukaku

Who would you transfer out prior to the doubles? Im prepared to take hits.
I'm thinking: Kane (> Mitro), Siggy (> Coutinho), Elliot (>Mignolet)

I'm keeping just because he gives my team a really nice balance in 33 and 35.

Wouldn't be surprised if he hauled away to Sunderland at the weekend tbh, plus he's cheap and nailed.

That's the problem, I currently have 7 players for 35. The fixtures are so nice as well. And it's not like Bolasie/Barkley have been getting any points.

So many great midfield options. Maybe its time to change to 3-5-2?

Rasford could be great enabler. Happy to bench till rest of the season and easy to swap for Defoe if needed.

    Something like this:

    DDG (Darlow)

    Belle - Smalling - Jags (Gabriel,Sakho)

    Sanchez - KDB - Payet - Coutinho - Lennon

    Aguero - Lukaku (Rasford)

I really really dislike the Lennon choice. Personally! I think 3-5-2 is a decent idea, but you'll struggle to bring in a premium striker if you really need one.

every time a shift to 3-5-2 is considered, the 3-4-3 comes back and rips it to shreds.

Trust me, been there twice this season, once last season.

Want to go with Sanchez, but concerned about potential injury. Brought him on WC last night, but don't want to ditch Ozil just yet as a lot of value tied up in him (and so if Sanchez were out for a few weeks would make me cry)
