The ScoutCast – Episode 189 – Trapdoor

Have we fallen hook, line and sinker? After taking a beating by a cast of talent sacrificed in our Gameweek 33 Wildcards, it certainly feels we’ve obliviously wandered over a trapdoor and slammed back down to earth.

We’re back up to full strength in the ScoutCast as Jonty, Andy and Luke join me to compare the bruises inflicted by our Gameweek 33 refresh. We endevour to remain optimistic, clinging to the hope that the Gameweek 34 bench boost chip will deliver and help us balm the damage from a disastrous weekend.

Judging by the line of questioning from the community, we’re not the only ones smarting. The four of us pick through your bout of queries, before looking ahead the weekend and the Gameweek that could yet revive our seasons.

This episode of the ScoutCast was first aired live on our YouTube channel on Wednesday night. Be sure to subscribe to get a heads up on future broadcasts.

So like a lot of us I had a disappointing week. Lukaku, Lennon, Bolasie all blanking post WC with Cout and Sakho (having swapped him for Moreno who decided to bring some points in) not playing also.
1FT and 0.2 in the bank. What to do????

    Mig Robles
    Sakho Bellerin Gabriel Targett Simpson
    Payet Cout Bolasie Sanchez Lennon
    Martial Aguero Luk

Hard to look past Bolasie -> Townsend seeing as I need a player playing GW35
    Thoughts or other options?

Playing bench boost this week and captaining Sanchez fyi.

It's now or never for Newcastle, so it could be a nice punt. Would get him for Lennon though, since he might not play

Only just seen Lennon. Total spanner in the works and means I'll have to take a hit this week or next now to field 11 next week.

Wow, the top 30 transfers in are _dominated_ by 4 teams. It's not *too* surprising really but one of Newcastle, Watford or West Brom will spring surprises this week as they're roundly ignored.

This is the list in order of transfers in: Iwobi (ARS), Martial (MUN), Sánchez (ARS), de Gea (MUN), Bellerín (ARS), Özil (ARS), Payet (WHU), De Bruyne (MCI), Coutinho (LIV), Sigurdsson (SWA), Moreno (LIV), Rashford (MUN), Firmino (LIV), Smalling (MUN), Origi (LIV), Koscielny (ARS), Milner (LIV), Alli (TOT), Fosu-Mensah (MUN), Carroll (WHU), Sturridge (LIV), Schmeichel (LEI), Gabriel (ARS), Lanzini (WHU), Mata (MUN), Agüero (MCI), Mignolet (LIV), Antonio (WHU), Darmian (MUN), Lingard (MUN).

Ah woops, misread it as "Janmaat and West Brom". Yeah that works, or whichever team floats your boat really. Picking clean sheets is a bit of a crapshoot so go for the biggest goal threat/bonus point darling from whichever team you go with.

Crystal Palace were "dreadful", "on relegation form", without a clean sheet in 4 months etc. then promptly got back-to-back cleanies and Ward and Hennessey got 18 points each. When there's so many overlooked dgw teams, one of them will spring up surprises.

It wasn't a total surprise, though. Two home games vs shot shy Norwich and an out of sorts Everton.

I can see a double CS in the WBA - Watford game, but little else.

Are there any players likely to start the DGW + GW35??

If the answer is no, are we not infinitely better off getting a player with a DGW and genuine blank in GW35 so we can transfer out after the DGW?

Which means West Ham players should play both games in GW34?

      • 10 Years

That's 5 Arsenal players there, Balders. I agree that they seem the most nailed on given they have no further CL action.

West Brom seem to shut out Arsenal and Spurs? I don't see the advantage over a single GW player like Rose with stk, WBA.

Some decent logic in there. Can starting getting setup for 37 as the same time. I fear 35 time for some of these rather than 34. May well be rested before next round eg city and pool.

My bench is currently Mignolet, Bolasie, Simpson, Janmaat (injured).

Thinking I should change plans & triple captain Sanchez this week & save bench boost for GW37 obviously with less players (currently have 7 dgwer's in 37).

Can't see me losing out on too many points this week from my bench whilst having a stronger captaincy option than in 37. Also would have to use a transfer on Janmaat so would only have 10 players in gw35 rather than 11.

    Any thoughts appreciated!

In preparations for my BB for GW34 Lennon now injured, Darmian minutes seriously a concern right now with the form of fosu-mensah. Not really wanting to BB without a full 15 man squad

    A) Lennon & Darmian to Coutiniho and Fosu-Mensah then in GW35 have 9.4M to replace Lukaku who will play in 35 and has a double DGW in 37

    B) Lennon & Darmian to Ali & Fosu Mensah then in GW35 Lukaku to Costa

    C) Just replace lennon and hope fosu mensah doesnt play

Other suggestions on who bring it will be appreciated 12.6M is total budget when darmian and lennon are taken out.

    I need help guys!

Same dilemma as I don't want to use bench boost without 15 man squad (above). Do you have triple captain chip left?

yes I have all 3 chips, with sanchez and martial candidates for TC in GW34 but if I wait for GW37 to use a BB i'd get 12DGW without hits but would suffer in GW35 in order to get 15 in 37

    2 FT, 1.5m ITB

    Robles Darlow
    Kosceilny Gabriel Sakho Rojo Mangala
    Ozil Payet Coutinho Barkley Bolasie
    Aguero Lukaku Rashford

    Original Plan
Bolasie to Milner and BB, save FT

Stick with plan or change it up and just get 2 players with my 2FT who are nailed?

    Soure the fosu for free?

Would mean a hit to field 11 in 35?
Or is shipping clichy more important?

Do it and just play 10 in 35? Your 10 will probably balance out all those taking hits...

    Best option here?

    a) Lennon and Jags ---> Fosu and Milner (-4)
    b) Lennon and Jags ----> Lingard and Clyne (-4)
    c) Lennon, jags and Gabriel ----> iwobi plus a or b (-8)

good, yes, a good trade sir. But there are some great options. Lanzini's price is deceptive, Antonio, Iwobi, Milner...

Lads and lasses...the hour cometh. Please asses with your expert minds the following fantasy conundrum

    Robles/Darlow
    Sakho Simpson Dann Rojo Bellers
    Sanchez Ozil Payet Bolaise Lanzini
    Aguero Lukaka MItro

    2FT. Would you:

    A) Dann/Bolaise/Lukaka > TFM/Milner/Sturridge (-4)
    B) Dann/Bolaise/Lukaka > TFM/Firmino/Sturridge (-4)

One of those without the hit for Lukaka > Sturridge. Going Milner over Firmino means 1.6m ITB for a keeper upgrade down the line...

How nailed on is Nasri for GW34 Double and GW 35 is it worth doing Lennon to Nasri on a -4 assuming he plays both games and gets the standard 2 points per game bringing me to the same points i would be on keeping Lennon who is likely to register 0 minutes over the DGW and a blank in GW35 I already own KDB but no one else have a DGW in 34 and a fixture besides liverpool & arsenal and i have 3 from both teams. sorry a bit of a mouthful.

    Worth while? Yes/No

Since he got an injured hamstring and is classified as a 50% chance of playing - damn annoying it is too!

yeah I know wish I went for Iwobi on WC but he felt a rotation risk but can't get him with 3 Arsenal players already selected
