Dugout FC Returns to Fantasy Football Scout

We’re delighted to announce that Fantasy Football Scout are once again supporting Dugout FC ahead of the new season.

Not only have we reset our league from last year, due to the demand (we still have 69 divisions of active players), we’ve also created a brand new Fantasy Football Scout North league in preparation for the upcoming campaign.

If you missed the opportunity to get involved a year ago, we urge you to read on and see what all the fuss is about.

What is it?

Dugout FC and other draft-based Fantasy games take us back to our Fantasy Football roots; rolling back the years to a time when we played with a team consisting of unique players, dear to our hearts, over the course of the season.

If you fondly remember games where nobody but you could own Premier League goal machines such as Alan Shearer or Thierry Henry, then Dugout FC should provide you with some fuzzy warm nostalgia.

Having said that, the game is very much up to date, with all manner of technology in play: online matchday hubs for real-time updates and live chat; IOS and Android mobile apps; an Opta stats-based scoring model and the ability to run your draft night and conduct transfers in-game are all catered for.

You’ve got the option to go full old-school and gather a bunch of mates in a pub to take part in the all-important draft in your private league, although the mobile app essentially means you have the whole game in your pocket on the go.

You can log in to the virtual “draft room” and bid against friends or complete strangers by joining a public league. There’s even an option to draw up a shortlist of desired players to take care of your draft, in case you miss out on the night.

You can also set up games to run over the course of the season, or just for a month or week.

Why Should I Play?

First of all, it’s free to play. With that in mind, we really have been struggling to find a catch.

The appeal of draft games cannot be understated. There really is nothing quite like the drama and twists produced on draft night.

The plotting, the intrigue, the tactics, the highs of bagging your star pick and the lows of having to dip into the bin of rejects to complete your squad – it’s fair to say it’s one of the reasons I fell in love with Fantasy Football all those years ago.

Dugout FC takes the faff out of all the draft logistics, whilst claiming to have a unique Opta-based scoring system, taking over 2,000 events of every match into account, which they reckon is one of the best around.

Once the draft is complete, you’ll compete in a league of ten on a head-to-head basis – with three points for a win and one for a draw.

Each league can have multiple divisions and Dugout FC even takes care of the promotion and relegation up and down the ladder at the end of every season.

Your squad will consist of 18 players following the draft, although you can swap out assets to pick up free agents from the player pool at any time. You can also enter into negotiations for swap deals with other managers in your division – it’s all taken care of within Dugout FC’s tech.

The game takes this further by generating stories of transfer speculation on behind-the-scenes wheeling and dealing in your division.

How Do I Start?

By registering here: https://www.dugoutfc.com.

As mentioned, it’s free to join.

You’ll then need to decide whether to join a league or set up your own. You can create leagues that run for the season, the month, or just for a week.

If you’ve got an odd number of players wanting to join, Dugout FC will provide a Caretaker Manager to play against one person each week for the three points. The Caretaker Manager scores the average of all other teams in the division for that week.

Once that’s sorted, arranging a time for your draft date is the main priority.

Bear in mind that, with the new app, you can log in to the draft night whilst on the go.

As we mentioned, we now have a Fantasy Football Scout South League with 69 divisions and a new North League, just waiting for you to enter your teams and be allocated into a division.

You can join the new Fantasy Football Scout League via this link.

It’s first come, first served, so the earlier you get involved, the higher the division of our new league you’ll be placed in.

Our default auction date for each division is currently Friday, August 5, at 8pm UK time. Don’t forget you can use the app to get involved.

We will be running our own draft at that time over in the top division of the Fantasy Football Scout South – a league made up of myself, Jonty, Granville and other staff members – and we may even launch a live Google Hangout for the occasion.

For more information about Dugout FC, visit their FAQ.

We’ll be following this article up with a more in-depth scan of Dugout FC’s scoring system and auction night strategies next week.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

West Ham are close to agreeing a fee worth in the region of £15m with Swansea City for forward Andre Ayew.

SWA would be really relegation material if this is true.

Burnley have come up and once again have failed to improve, in fact, they lost their player of the year Joey Barton on a free transfer. Either Sean Dyche or the Board need to change their tune otherwise they'll end up like West Brom about 8 years back, a serious Yo-Yo club.

A typical Arsenal game, this...Lot's of wasted opportunities, because of a lack of a proper finishers and a goal from Drogba 🙂

I rate Giroud, & think he gets a lot of undeserved criticism (albeit some parts are justified). A player like Bacca is a more clinical finisher than the likes of Giroud, but he possess many important underrated attributes for the modern forward, that many lack. His link-up play is good, has decent vision for a striker, can partner with a mobile forward behind him very well, & has excellent hold-up play & it's really the wingers who benefit most from a player like him.

That said, t's really saddening to see such a fluid & dynamic side's attack go to waste more often than not. You guys have some of the best creators in world football & a blistering Chilean running rampant down the left eager to capitalize. Reminds me a lot of watching Chile play, we put up great strings of passes together & skill on the ball when we drive into the final third, but fail in what matters most: The final ball & the clinical finish.

A player like Lacazette who isn't as raw a poacher as Bacca & their ilk would be ideal here.

Very well said. I rate Giroud as well, but Arsenal players around him need to improve their finishing. As you said the creative part of their game is pretty good, so the goal scoring opportuinites are going to be divided among players all around. Özil, Giroud and Sanchez are the best finishers in the team, but often dedicate their game to creating rather than finishing the chances off, which leaves a lot of opportunities to the 4th attacking minded player. Chamberlain, Walcott, Ramsey need to improve their finishing the most, they get into dangerous positions a lot and got nothing to show for it :/

And another thing...Walcott was asked about what he's working on in trainings before the MLS All Star game. He said he's working on his positioning, which is a waste of time imo. Every player is going to get into good attacking positions with their style of playing, the key is to learn how to finish those chances off. I remember he was good a few years back, when he worked on that, and if he keeps working on incidental parts of his game rather than te important ones, unfortunately he's got no future at Arsenal.

Bojan as a midfielder, looks nailed on in the hole now that Ibrahim Afellay is out until at least Christmas, on penalties over Arnatovic. A steal at £6.0m, but are those opening fixtures just a little too scary for your liking?

Wollscheid ranks best among Stoke defenders for baseline BAPS and so long as Hughes doesn't go with that silly 3-5-2 I will happily invest at £4.5m.

My issue is the way that Stoke will line-up. If they are going with the 3-5-2 with two holding midfielders (Allen and Imbula I assume) and two wingbacks (Pieters and Glen) that really only leaves 3 positions available. Arnie and Shaqiri are nailed on; wouldn't Diouf get the other spot up top?

A very good point, I hope Hughes switches back to the tried and trusted 4-2-3-1 before too long, anyway.

Maybe. I think he wants to go. And I think the club may let him if AM pay a proper price.

            Costa to AM
            Lukaku to Chelsea
            Bony to Everton

I think that's the possible chain. Most interesting part of that for me would be Bony as a 7.5m 1st choice striker at a decent club. He would be straight in my FPL team.

You claimed Guardiola has managed 'precisely 2 teams'. That is a lie and displays your lack of knowledge of the man. You also attempted to claim 5 trophies in 2 years at Bayern was a failure. Looks like your ignorance is doubled by a misunderstanding of the word failure.

Barcelona B. Hmmm. I think the clue is in the first word there. Barcelona. 😕 It is the Barcelona reserve team we are talking about.

Essentially he was coaching a development squad and didn't have anything like the full responsibility of a club manager. He has only had that responsibility twice. Precisely twice.

Not sure I understand the love of City defense. Lots of rotation and thought not many clean sheets. Kolarov was considered gold for a portion last season, then seemed to disappear imo. what am I missing?

Haven't paid much attention to S'ton preseason - Redmond looking nailed?

Worried about injuries with Bojan. What are your thoughts on Diouf? Assuming Stoke don't land Berahino he could be a decent option at 6.0, had 12 goals only 2 seasons ago

Redmond will play the opening game, his form will determine if he gets rotated. Bojan isn't injured at the moment so he will also play the opening game. I'm not sure about Diouf, he has been pretty bad recently and it's worth the extra 0.5 to upgrade to a 6.5 striker because a lot of them look good.

Not sure investing in Arsenal defense now is wise. Too many injuries right now so clean sheets may be unlikely, unless Cech is magical again this season.

Also not a fan of 4-4-2. I brought in Hernandez instead of Diomande, but have cheaper midfield.

            Otherwise looks good

          Hey all,

What are your thoughts on Fab and Lamela. Are either worth owning for cover?

Not that I believe in "cover" but I think Lamela could find himself in some space this season due to the increased attention on Alli. And Fab is still fab (or could that money be better spent on Batshuayi now that Costa has one foot out the door?)

          Gray - Aguero - 4.5 forward

-Tried to keep the players like Hazard/KDB/Ozil/Payet off the team for now until I see how they do coming off the Euros.
-If Stones goes to City then Firmino becomes Coutinho and I'll upgrade Fernandez to Stones.
-Staying away from United defense now with no Smalling; Jones and Bailly(?) possibly as a first game partnership doesn't leave me with any confidence in CS.

Not really sold on others early on. Ibra is a wait and see, been burned by Lukaku too many times to count on him, and now Costa is being rumored to leave. Gray will switch to the nailed on Southampton forward from GW3

dont spend more than 9.0 on keepers
            Lenihan for playing fodder
Trim the mids and get to at least another 6.5 fwd (I'm rotating Long/Carroll).

I at least can't wait to debate with people (mainly UK time folks) who've never seen Serie A or have consistently watched Juve play in the CL. Then say he's overrated trash & that his potential should be purely based on his Euro performance where he was played in an unnatural position that he isn't accustomed to (two-man mid in a 4231) where he was encumbered with way more defensive burden than he's used to. Therefore can't play his style of football he's known for, make as many left hand runs in the final third, be as creative & have as much time on the ball, etc.

            Sorry for the rant 😉

                Don't think so mate

I'd get him for a draft league that rewards chances created, shots on target, interceptions & tackles, but definitely not FPL considering both:

                A) Is not a high-volume goalscoring mid by any means, that's just not Pogba's playstyle. 31 goals & 28 assists in 164 apps (all comps) for Juve since he joined. Albeit he's improved massively every season for attacking returns, & coming off his best with 8 goals & 12 assists in 35 apps in Serie A last season. I have my doubts he can best that if he's in a position that limits his influence in the final third, which leads to my next point

                B) Will likely be shoehorned as the left-pivot in Mourinho's stubborn 4-2-3-1. Ideally he'd be played as the left CM in a 433 with more license to attack & contribute in the final third & have less of the defensive burden. But alas.

                C) Likely to come in at 9-9.5 imo, restrictive price for what he'll offer & the competition at his price range. You can get Micki for a similar price & he produced almost as many attacking returns in one single season as Pogba did in his whole tenure at Juve (all comps for both)

          Aguero, Kane, Negredo

Foster rotates with Heaton, Pant wont start.
Paredes> Lenihan will play and rotates w/wolly. Hull w/tuff fixs tho
            Meyler> Fletcher
better 5. mids than Phillips IMO GL

I run a 10 yr old 1 litre Citroen C1 which is probably coming to the end of the time it is useful for me. Although it is damn cheap to take to work and back.

The rest of the time I use a 4x4 Dacia Duster. That is the main family car. But mine needs an upgrade I think

Yes we did. It doesn't come with an extra long warranty just a 3 year.

I think companys like Kia did these massive warrantys to stop their resale values plummetting.

I doubt these Dusters are going to devalue the same way.

                            I see. Sounds decent then.

          Hello,

I am in a really competitive draft league where we are allowed to keep four players at the price we bought them the previous season.
We had to submit out four keepers several days ago and the draft is an hour away.
I kept Otamendi. Did I waste a keeper? If Stones goes to City, is Otamendi no longer a regular straight away?

          Cheers

I think Otamendi will be first choice, but could occasionally get subbed at around 59 minutes.
