Dugout FC Returns to Fantasy Football Scout

We’re delighted to announce that Fantasy Football Scout are once again supporting Dugout FC ahead of the new season.

Not only have we reset our league from last year, due to the demand (we still have 69 divisions of active players), we’ve also created a brand new Fantasy Football Scout North league in preparation for the upcoming campaign.

If you missed the opportunity to get involved a year ago, we urge you to read on and see what all the fuss is about.

What is it?

Dugout FC and other draft-based Fantasy games take us back to our Fantasy Football roots; rolling back the years to a time when we played with a team consisting of unique players, dear to our hearts, over the course of the season.

If you fondly remember games where nobody but you could own Premier League goal machines such as Alan Shearer or Thierry Henry, then Dugout FC should provide you with some fuzzy warm nostalgia.

Having said that, the game is very much up to date, with all manner of technology in play: online matchday hubs for real-time updates and live chat; IOS and Android mobile apps; an Opta stats-based scoring model and the ability to run your draft night and conduct transfers in-game are all catered for.

You’ve got the option to go full old-school and gather a bunch of mates in a pub to take part in the all-important draft in your private league, although the mobile app essentially means you have the whole game in your pocket on the go.

You can log in to the virtual “draft room” and bid against friends or complete strangers by joining a public league. There’s even an option to draw up a shortlist of desired players to take care of your draft, in case you miss out on the night.

You can also set up games to run over the course of the season, or just for a month or week.

Why Should I Play?

First of all, it’s free to play. With that in mind, we really have been struggling to find a catch.

The appeal of draft games cannot be understated. There really is nothing quite like the drama and twists produced on draft night.

The plotting, the intrigue, the tactics, the highs of bagging your star pick and the lows of having to dip into the bin of rejects to complete your squad – it’s fair to say it’s one of the reasons I fell in love with Fantasy Football all those years ago.

Dugout FC takes the faff out of all the draft logistics, whilst claiming to have a unique Opta-based scoring system, taking over 2,000 events of every match into account, which they reckon is one of the best around.

Once the draft is complete, you’ll compete in a league of ten on a head-to-head basis – with three points for a win and one for a draw.

Each league can have multiple divisions and Dugout FC even takes care of the promotion and relegation up and down the ladder at the end of every season.

Your squad will consist of 18 players following the draft, although you can swap out assets to pick up free agents from the player pool at any time. You can also enter into negotiations for swap deals with other managers in your division – it’s all taken care of within Dugout FC’s tech.

The game takes this further by generating stories of transfer speculation on behind-the-scenes wheeling and dealing in your division.

How Do I Start?

By registering here: https://www.dugoutfc.com.

As mentioned, it’s free to join.

You’ll then need to decide whether to join a league or set up your own. You can create leagues that run for the season, the month, or just for a week.

If you’ve got an odd number of players wanting to join, Dugout FC will provide a Caretaker Manager to play against one person each week for the three points. The Caretaker Manager scores the average of all other teams in the division for that week.

Once that’s sorted, arranging a time for your draft date is the main priority.

Bear in mind that, with the new app, you can log in to the draft night whilst on the go.

As we mentioned, we now have a Fantasy Football Scout South League with 69 divisions and a new North League, just waiting for you to enter your teams and be allocated into a division.

You can join the new Fantasy Football Scout League via this link.

It’s first come, first served, so the earlier you get involved, the higher the division of our new league you’ll be placed in.

Our default auction date for each division is currently Friday, August 5, at 8pm UK time. Don’t forget you can use the app to get involved.

We will be running our own draft at that time over in the top division of the Fantasy Football Scout South – a league made up of myself, Jonty, Granville and other staff members – and we may even launch a live Google Hangout for the occasion.

For more information about Dugout FC, visit their FAQ.

We’ll be following this article up with a more in-depth scan of Dugout FC’s scoring system and auction night strategies next week.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I've just watched the replay of Chelsea 1-0 Liverpool and Chelsea look extremely organised in defence, not surprising considering Conte is in charge. Is anyone considering a double up on their defence?

Wasn't even considering any of them tbh. Pre-season form is highly unreliable and I'm yet to be convinced by CHS after last year.

There was unrest in the Chelsea camp last year. With a new manager, everyone will be keen to impress.

I think Zouma said he should be back in action in 5-6 weeks. So maybe he will be a starter in the beginning of September

Really? Well he's certainly not the fastest chap around, his game's never relied on pace, but I was neither impressed nor disappointed. Think you're being a bit harsh here for someone's debut with a second-string team. Xhaka's a very methodical passer of the ball from deep & is more than capable of holding down his midfield as he showed playing alongside Dahoud (a bôx-to-box mid) at Gladbach who would mainly stray to final third as a trequartista & leave Xhaka as the reliable anchor most of the time.

He's definitely not an asset for FPL though, since we want goals & assists. Not tackles, interceptions & chances created. I think you'll be impressed once he's under the spotlight in the PL with a good dose of pre-season games under his belt.

Good day to you DZ. Another fine morning/afternoon/evening for football related discussion.

Regarding the United attack: I think we can all have a successful stab at mourinho's starting line up but what do you think will be his go to substitutions...

Personally I think it could be Martial > Rashford/Depay or Rooney coming off for a winger like Lindgard with Mhik moving into the middle. Not sure if or where Mata comes in.

Thoughts?? Will Zlatan lose minutes or he's nailed for 90 in the PL?

    1. Phnom_Penh_Andy
      • 7 Years

You'd think given his age, they'd want to conserve his energy and take him off after 70 mins. But then again he may be super-fit, so we just have to wait and see.

But for me Rashford and Mata would be the most likely subs; further back maybe Schneiderlin/Herrera and Jones/Bailly/Blind.

Absolutely you should, I'm buying mine again later this week & there's a plethora of stats/members tables, a more complete ticker to tinker with, maps with average positioning of players (helps to sees who's playing too deep in his/opponents third &/or furthest FB's up the pitch for example). RMT tool isn't as useful as the others, but it's great for a little 'ole confirmation bias or to just fiddle around with 😉

        What's the fuss about KDB?

KGB missed several games at the start of the season before he was bought by Citeh and then he was injured after Chrimbo for several weeks.

He's my idea of this year's highest point scorer.

Which team seems better for the initial few GWs? 0.0 in the bank.

    (3-5-2)
    Valdes, Jakupovic
    Shaw, Terry, Morgan, McAuley, Souare
    Mkhi, Ayew, Hazard, Barkley, Redmond
    Aguero, Gray, Carroll/other 6.5 striker

    or

    (4-4-2)
    Schmeichel, Jakupovic
Shaw, Otamendi, Terry, Van Dijk, Smith/other 4.0
Mkhi, Ayew, Hazard, Barkley, Kightly/other 4.5
    Aguero, Diouf, Carroll/Gray/other 6.5

Prefer Mahrez over Mkhi there since u already have Ibra. Also doubts over Coutinho given Pool will have many attacking options and points will be shared.

Defense weak. With the likes of Guardiola/Mourinho/Conte this season, more likely to generate more clean sheets imo.

I have used similar ideology to construct my team (see post above). I refrained from 2 Soton players as they have tough GW2 so might need to rest both of them. Also I m assuming Stones in ur team is considered as a City player. Same goes for Naylor come GW3.

How far in advance are you looking? It's not all about GW1.

I like the VVD pick. I'd try to find another 0.5 from somewhere to upgrade Diouf, especially as you have Bojan too.

But in gw 2 VVD plays man utd Morgan plays arsenal so you cant just look at gw 1

      Thanks for the replies guys.
My gw2 defense will be Stones (asuming he goes to MCI = stk), Naylor (HULL), Kone (if he stays at Sun = MIDD - if he goes to Eve = wba)
I'll play Tadic as from memory Soton's record at MU early in the season is quite good & I think they've won there in the past
Diouf is there for gw1 v midd. After gw1 we'll know which 6.5 to jump on & since I have 1.0itb it'll be an easy switch.

    Kun-Kane-Ibra team:

    Heaton-Foster
    Shaw-Funes-Morgan-Friend-Souare
    Tadic-Delboy-Townsend-Bojan-Hojber

I don't fancy Ibra and I'd wait on Kane, his confidence looked shot be the end of the Euro campaign. Townsend is too hit or miss for me and although I like Bojan he's not nailed.

Nice to see a differently weighted team thought, good luck.

      good rotating keepers

Wouldn't personally want Man City defensive cover, Chelsea preferable.

      Solid midfield.

Two 6.5 options up top seems a bit light, consider a midfielder and defender.

“I have, at the moment, not too many attacking options of experienced players,” Wenger said in his postgame press conference. “Let’s not forget that we still have a few players at home and a few players who didn’t play today like [Santi Cazorla]. And of course we have [Mesut Ozil] and [Aaron Ramsey] at home. And [Olivier Giroud] is not here. So we have options, but we still look outside to find one more.”

As an ARS fan, which I deduce from your grav and pseudo, where do you find yourselves finishing this season?
And how do you rate your team in CL?

      1. Arteta
        • 8 Years
        7 years, 9 months ago

The goal has to be winning the league no matter how strong other teams are. If you want to be the best you have to beat the best. I'm trying to be optimistic and believe that it's possible. Last season we had a tremendous opportunity and sadly we blew it. When you finish above all big teams/rivals and you don't win the league you obviously feel very bad. No one thought Leicester could actually do it but they shocked the world. 2016/2017 will be hell of a season with so many great managers and teams fighting for the title. I honestly don't even know who the biggest favourites are. Man City and Man United probably. Nothing is guaranteed in football so it's impossible to predict what will happen. There's a hundred scenarios and I'm just hoping for the best.

        1. El-Kloppico
          • 8 Years

Hmm.. Yeah, ARS had the best opportunity last year.
They should have ignored CL and give it a go in PL, they didn't stand any chance in CL anyway imo.

This year I would take a bet at Chelsea.. Being a fan of Juve, I followed Conte there and know what he can achieve. More so, since they have the advantage of no European football, like Leicester last year.

Mou has never win during his first year and with this ManU team, even with their overrated players coming in, I can't see them winning tbh.
City will also take some time to adapt to Pep system.
Klopp's LFC will be one to monitor also. I'm following their pre-season and can say he is building something good.

I totally agree with you. When I found out that we are playing against Barcelona I knew our chances are close to zero. MSN was unstoppable. I always rated Conte. Great manager who will make Chelsea much stronger defensively which is also good for FPL. Mourinho is already spending big bucks and selling the kids. I'm not really surprised. I expected that Pep will try to buy al least one player from Barcelona or Bayern who he really trusts but nothing happened yet. He clearly wants Sane and Stones to strenghten the team. Klopp is already building a very good team which could surprise this season. We can't ignore Spurs either. They have young and likeable team. I'm not about Leicester (again). Everton and Southampton are always causing troubles. It's far too soon to predict anything. Consistency and injuries are the key factors.

Depend on who Wenger signs.. He can easily sign 5 players for 20M, that's Arsene..
Disconnected to the reality of price hike.

And I think if ARS start the season with Gabriel as CB, they'll have a nightmare start..
Go get Mustafi asap. He's young and a great player

if Arsenal manage to sign Lacazette, Mahrez, Matuidi, Ricardo Rodriguez, and Mustafi i can see them winning the league.

But lets be fair that will never happen

If they change half the team you meant?
Or if they only kick Arsene and hire Simeone? that will be more realistic..
Arsenal has world-class players but the system hasn't change.. Everybody know how Arsène plays.. That's the problem.

That'Luck has always been a part of football. But on the other hand, you should be able to beat the best to be among the champions.

            1) keep de gea then get a 4.0 gk
            2) only have 2 5.5 defenders and the rest should be 4.5/4.0
            3) Keep only 2 of kane/aguero/giroud and change the third to a 6.5
            4) use the rest of the money to upgrade midfield

Any thoughts/suggestions/criticisms/scoldings would be greatly appreciated.

    Mandanda 4.5 --- Valdes 4.5
    Azpilicueta 6.0 --- Baines 5.5 --- Kone 4.5 --- Evans 4.5 --- Smith 4.0
    Silva 9.0 --- Firmino 8.5 --- Ayew 7.5 --- Tadic 7.5 --- Bojan 6.0
    Lukaku 9.0 --- Aguero 13.0 --- Hernandez 6.0

Primarily a 3-5-2 formation, with the exception of tricky away match ups for Bojan when Hernandez would slide in for coverage at home.

No Man Utd players are allowed in my primary league.

    Thanks.

I would avoid Hernandez, he is woeful. By downgrading Bojan you could upgrade your 3rd striker and go 3-4-3.

No Man Utd players allowed? What is this wizardry?

Two cheap fwds - one needs an upgrade to the likes of Lukaku.
Mids are okay although Firmino has tough fixtures to begin.
Van A looks like he's crocked. Dawson could be McAuley - always look for the cheapest way into a D.
Try Heatster at 9.0 combo for more save points whilst keeping cs potential.

Started off with Foster Heaton but didn't want to double up on WBA. I've picked Firmino currently because of Arsenal's defence but I don't mind changing him. I hear you about Dawson and van A, certainly could save up 1.0 there.

It has to wouldn't you think? Mahrez creates a lot of chances and without that quality supply line, Vardy gets less chances.

My advice with LEI is to monitor to begin and see how they go without Kante et al. I see quite a few with Morgan, etc. but I wouldn't have a defender or gk from LEI until we see how they shape up first.
