Dugout FC Returns to Fantasy Football Scout

We’re delighted to announce that Fantasy Football Scout are once again supporting Dugout FC ahead of the new season.

Not only have we reset our league from last year, due to the demand (we still have 69 divisions of active players), we’ve also created a brand new Fantasy Football Scout North league in preparation for the upcoming campaign.

If you missed the opportunity to get involved a year ago, we urge you to read on and see what all the fuss is about.

What is it?

Dugout FC and other draft-based Fantasy games take us back to our Fantasy Football roots; rolling back the years to a time when we played with a team consisting of unique players, dear to our hearts, over the course of the season.

If you fondly remember games where nobody but you could own Premier League goal machines such as Alan Shearer or Thierry Henry, then Dugout FC should provide you with some fuzzy warm nostalgia.

Having said that, the game is very much up to date, with all manner of technology in play: online matchday hubs for real-time updates and live chat; IOS and Android mobile apps; an Opta stats-based scoring model and the ability to run your draft night and conduct transfers in-game are all catered for.

You’ve got the option to go full old-school and gather a bunch of mates in a pub to take part in the all-important draft in your private league, although the mobile app essentially means you have the whole game in your pocket on the go.

You can log in to the virtual “draft room” and bid against friends or complete strangers by joining a public league. There’s even an option to draw up a shortlist of desired players to take care of your draft, in case you miss out on the night.

You can also set up games to run over the course of the season, or just for a month or week.

Why Should I Play?

First of all, it’s free to play. With that in mind, we really have been struggling to find a catch.

The appeal of draft games cannot be understated. There really is nothing quite like the drama and twists produced on draft night.

The plotting, the intrigue, the tactics, the highs of bagging your star pick and the lows of having to dip into the bin of rejects to complete your squad – it’s fair to say it’s one of the reasons I fell in love with Fantasy Football all those years ago.

Dugout FC takes the faff out of all the draft logistics, whilst claiming to have a unique Opta-based scoring system, taking over 2,000 events of every match into account, which they reckon is one of the best around.

Once the draft is complete, you’ll compete in a league of ten on a head-to-head basis – with three points for a win and one for a draw.

Each league can have multiple divisions and Dugout FC even takes care of the promotion and relegation up and down the ladder at the end of every season.

Your squad will consist of 18 players following the draft, although you can swap out assets to pick up free agents from the player pool at any time. You can also enter into negotiations for swap deals with other managers in your division – it’s all taken care of within Dugout FC’s tech.

The game takes this further by generating stories of transfer speculation on behind-the-scenes wheeling and dealing in your division.

How Do I Start?

By registering here: https://www.dugoutfc.com.

As mentioned, it’s free to join.

You’ll then need to decide whether to join a league or set up your own. You can create leagues that run for the season, the month, or just for a week.

If you’ve got an odd number of players wanting to join, Dugout FC will provide a Caretaker Manager to play against one person each week for the three points. The Caretaker Manager scores the average of all other teams in the division for that week.

Once that’s sorted, arranging a time for your draft date is the main priority.

Bear in mind that, with the new app, you can log in to the draft night whilst on the go.

As we mentioned, we now have a Fantasy Football Scout South League with 69 divisions and a new North League, just waiting for you to enter your teams and be allocated into a division.

You can join the new Fantasy Football Scout League via this link.

It’s first come, first served, so the earlier you get involved, the higher the division of our new league you’ll be placed in.

Our default auction date for each division is currently Friday, August 5, at 8pm UK time. Don’t forget you can use the app to get involved.

We will be running our own draft at that time over in the top division of the Fantasy Football Scout South – a league made up of myself, Jonty, Granville and other staff members – and we may even launch a live Google Hangout for the occasion.

For more information about Dugout FC, visit their FAQ.

We’ll be following this article up with a more in-depth scan of Dugout FC’s scoring system and auction night strategies next week.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Should be aplenty imo. Ranieri finally got his man (tried to sign him in January first) and he's not going to warm the bench.

I think he's not popular here due to his classification as a forward, but I really feel he can do well in the 1st 2 GWs hence a wagon

I like Wilson, Long/Austin, Gray in that order(though i'm not sure which Soton guy to buy so staying away from both for now). For some reason i dont like Negredo even with his fixtures. And i dont want Rondon cause i'm tripling up at the back with Brom 🙂 .. i'm not sure who this Musa guy is tbh

I think alongside him. He's mainly a Left Forward but can easily play through the middle too. A natural goalscorer with lots of pace - I think he's slightly better version of Vardy.

At 7.5 and Hull & depleted ARS in his first 2 GWs I am highly tempted

You didn't just call him better than Vardy... Good talent, but scoring in the Russian league in the best team who were scoring 6 goals in a game several times in the last two seasons.

Surprised there's not been much interest for Milik in the EPL. looked pure class in the euros. 35 seems a good price considering the money spent on other options this year(including Higuain's crazy price tag). Think Napoli got the better end of the deal with Milik + 45 million!

From what i saw of him.. yes. Though he does need to work on his finishing that's for sure. dunno anything about him pre Euros though

      2. pompeyfan
        • 14 Years
        7 years, 9 months ago

at the Euros he did what he normally does, drift in and out of games and miss easy chances. He only stayed in the Ajax team last year because there was no suitable alternative, and even then sometimes Klaassen, or Schone or El-Ghazi, was picked as a striker ahead of him.

He's ok in the air and has a decent left foot - that's it. He has improved tho, when he joined Ajax one of the coaches said he was one of the worst technical players ever to join the club.

First draft of the season. Thoughts?

    Hart
    Fuchs, Dann, Darmian, Morgan
    Silva, Mahrez, Siggy
    Long, Aguero, Gray

    Mandanda; Gradel, Friend, Fletcher

Might wanna downgrade your defence. Darmian isn't nailed, 5.5 is too much for a Palace defender and you already have Mandanda as a sub. Bring in KDB for Silva as he's not a great FPL prospect despite class

Bit of a noob question as usually I only set my team up a few days before the season starts.

If a player transfers prior to the season starting, does their value stay the same?
i.e is my only concern that i have no more than 3 players from any one team?

    1. ryacoo
      • Fantasy Football Scout Member
      • 8 Years

Yep, their value will stay the same. If you had 3 players from a club and then 1 of your other players transferred to that same club, you'd still be allowed all 4 of them (from the same club) but you'd have to sell one of them next time you made a transfer.

Based on the current stats on fpl: ICT index along with all the major stats. i'm still waiting for confirmation from a mod though. Even the ticker seems similar to the one here

Ah...that's a new one. I find it hard to believe that the members' stats will be shared on a public site.

All that's needed is a SIB and Touches in the box and the members area becomes irrelevant especially since the fixture difficulty ticker on here is now public there.

I actually think Kane is a better option than Ibra if I'm honest. Ibra is unproven and is more likely to play for a defensive minded team. Kane is one of the best finishers if not the best in the PL, and has scored 46 goals in two seasons despite question marks against him. I as an Arsenal must admit, he is a quality striker. He will be in my team come GW 1 along with Kun. I just hope Ibra flops

Loled. Stopped reading at "Ibra's unproven". He ain't some Memphis Depay or Gradel or Batchuayi, he's Zlatan dude, he doesn't need to prove.

Still unproven in the premier league though.

I meant unproven in the PL. I'm sure he will be a good acquisition to Man Utd but I feel Kane has something to prove after a dreadful Euros.

As for the Kane u'r right, he may be the safer option but Zlatan won't need that much time to acclimate in PL.

I'm going to try and pick proven players in the premier league. Kane has 20 ish goals the last two seasons. And his conversion rate last year was about 14% I think. Definitely room for improvement into the 20% range.

I agree that Kane is a better pick than Ibra, wouldn't go as far as saying Zlatan is unproven though but Kane has 2 consecutive seasons with 20+ goals in the PL. If you aren't looking to take the risk Kane is a much safer shout than Zlatan.

The most appealing thing about having Zlatan and Aguero is one of your strikers will always play at home.

i'd look at it another way, Zlatan has been great everywhere he has gone, winning leagues in every country, and always scoring, including at international level.

Kane has had 1.5 excellent seasons, that's it. He could easily tail off, and he was abysmal at the Euros.

Not that I'm meaning to compare Kane to Messi here but Messi isn't a fantastic player at international level either. I understand the want for someone like Zlatan he's excellent and I'm not saying he isn't. But he's 34 (35??) not necessarily but age could start to catch up with him. Kane is young and also a very good finisher with two years of 20+ goal seasons. Pretty good for '1.5 excellent seasons'. IMO Premier League is a different kettle of fish to a one team league in France, or an (at the time) two team league in Spain etc

not sure that age is such an issue for Zlatan, he is super fit (black belt martial artist etc).

Maybe Kane goes from strength to strength, but i'm not sold on him yet.

Let's not forget Zlatn produced the goods at 3 different Serie A clubs and was doing to the business in the Europe at Ajax at a very young age.

I also think the PL is a different kettle of fish. It is easier, as the defenders are worse, and there is less tactical discipline.

this is true but we've seen how quickly age can impact a player, look at RVP's rapid decline. I don't doubt zlatan but he's not superhuman, he will fade at some point, it's just a matter of when. Kane on the other hand is 23 & getting better every season.

Thats as good as any of them. Maybe a little heavy in back line.
If Souare doesn't sit he would rotate w/a SWA 4.5, are you married to Friend?

I've now changed my goalkeeper tactic. Instead of rotating Heaton and Foster I'm going with Cech and a dud keeper probably Jaku. I missed out on so many keeper points last season with not knowing who to play between Butland and Schmeichel, plus it solves my issue with the Arsenal defence being so expensive.

IMO it's a worthy investment especially if he plays all 38 games

    1. Invincibles49
      • 7 Years

I agree, choosing a premium keeper over two rotating ones is much safer but I wouldn't pick Cech considering we have 10 player's missing for the opening game

For me it's a season long pick, even with a full eleven I'm not sure I'd be expecting a clean sheet against Liverpool

I historically 2 rotating keepers are bigger earners(someone always rights an article). Also ARS don't have the greatest Fixtures, and Hulls are awful. If I had money I'd love to have Forster/Adrian.Butland and Scmeichel shoulda treated you well.

Butland Schmeichel was lovely. From GW4 until the end I had them, I expect Hull to go down but I just need a playing keeper in case something drastic happens to Cech, I will never actually plan to play Jaku.

I understand having 2 rotating keepers gives you a higher threshold for points but I benched way too many last season. Our fixtures aren't great to begin with but everyone plays the same 38 games over the season, if I think Cech will win golden glove again he also picked up bonus points in a fair few games too, I figure I might as well go for it.

    A) Eriksen - Townsend - Gradel - Taylor
    B) Mahrez - Bolasie - Gradel - 4.0
    C) Mahrez - townsend - 4.5 - Taylor

    Gradel 5th mid
    Taylor 5th def
    Townsend 4th mid

Hey everyone, I'm feeling pretty settled on my side at the moment and am going with team balance over individual player consistency (Aguero). Nothing in the bank and I think I am missing out with no De Bruyne or Fischer. What do you guys think?

    Courtois, Valdes

    Baines, Shaw, McAuley, Pieters, Friend

    Mahrez, Mkhitaryan, Silva, Eriksen, Fletcher

    Lukaku, Batshuayi, Wilson

    1. Cradders
      • 9 Years

To me that's a very risky top 3, you have Lukaku who's a troll, a player who was injured for majority of last season and a player who's not got a minute of PL football to his name. At the very least I'd probably go with Costa instead of Batshuayi, then again I don't know who's going to start games.
