The ScoutCast – Episode 195 – Zlatan

Inevitably, Zlatan Ibrahimovic stalks Episode 195 of the ScoutCast. Lauding over us like a Eric Cantona wannabe, the big Swede has wasted know time in getting Granville, Jonty, Andy and myself all in a tizzy.

Do you dare go without the Zlatan/Aguero double act? How do you adapt your midfield to accommodate the pricey pair? Will a wolf enter the Scout hut and interrupt the broadcast?

These questions and more are all answered over the course of another 70 minutes, as Jonty serves up our first “Rough with the Smooth” Gameweek tales from the community, before throwing us the best of your questions gathered throughout the week.

In other news, we’re still 100 episodes short of Last of the Summer Wine’s 295. Stick with us guys, we’re nearly almost there. Coincidentally, we also stopped being funny back in episode three.

This episode was first broadcast via YouTube on Tuesday evening. Be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel to get the heads up on future live episodes.

Right. Decided. Chelsea don't look as strong as we thought pre-season defensively. In you stay Gray 🙂

Friend, Evans and Amat owner here with 1 FT and zilch in the bank. In case that Evans and Friend are ruled out, which option should I look to?

    A) Play Amat
    B) Play AOA with Capoue
    C) Get rid of one of Friend/Evans for a 4.5 defender. If yes, then which one?

    Thanks 🙂

A I think. Similar story here (Kone over Evans).

Swansea aren't bad at the back, and Leicester without Mendy are there for the taking

It would have been a no brainer had I not had a FT. Tough decision this.

Both are worth keeping tbh. Again, no brainer if there was another clear option but all the other 4.5s don't look good this week

      Play Amat imo

For C,Galloway could be one to monitor at 4.5. He'll probably do a better job at it than Evans too

    bottomed

    Need an opinion
In one of my leagues, everyone will have Aguero captain (in fact, none of them even have Zlatan).

Is that enough reason alone to Captain Zlatan? (i have both). it is an away fixture whereas Kun is at home

    1. A.T
      • 13 Years

Just having Zlatan is an advantage. No need to take unnecessary risks captaining him. Unless of course you think he's the best option.

Seems like reason enough to captain Aguero. It's very early days, and unless you're already behind, I feel like going for a big differential captain has a bigger chance of backfiring than of succeeding.

      But it IS Zlatan, though...

Planning my GW4 transfer. So my defence is Stones, Williams, Evans, Pieters and Amat. Have 0.5m ITB.

Who should go? Feeling like Stoke's defence isn't too good atm. Wanna get rid of Pieters for another 4.5m defender. Also considering upgrading Williams to a 5.5m with more scoring/assist potential, e.g. VVD or Valencia.

    Thoughts?

They've not got the algorithm tied down yet. They're predicting 50 changes most evenings, but there's normally somewhere in the region of 15 actual changes. They do still boast a near 90% accuracy, though.

            • 11 Years

A long way from 50 most evenings.

I'm not sure there is an algorithm to be cracked....I'm sure FPL throw curve balls in to confound it.

The price sites do still get one thing right and that's the number of sales and only act as a guide when to be worried. It's been that way for two seasons now.

They seem to be slightly overdoing the risers - predicting more than actually occur - but only by a couple each night. The fallers they have been massively overstating - many on the list have been there since last GW.

I've got two free transfers but relatively happy with my team. Was going to do Firmino -> Barkley, but not sure if I should give Firmino one more week. Bit worried about Deulofeu too, but again, having given him 2 weeks I sort of want to give him one more to prove his worth. Any thoughts?

    Foster (Jaku)
Valencia, Stones, Funes Mori (Amat, Friend)
Firmino, Hazard (c), Deu, Redmond, Phillips
    Aguero, Ibra (Gray)

I suppose I could change Friend, just in case he struggles to win his place back after injury, but not sure if it's worth it...

Morning all, real life has been such a drain recently I haven't seen a single minute of Premier League football this season and am off to a poor start. Last season was similar but it didn't feel quite so bad as most people round here seemed to be struggling too, this year everyone else seems to be doing great!

Picking Carroll instead of the other popular 6.5 options (Negredo/Gray) has been painful and Ibrahimovic has brutally punished my decision to start with Kane. Those were decisions of very fine margins but it has cost me dearly.

This isn't meant to be a whinge as such (though I realise that's exactly what it is 🙂 ) I'm just hoping it's a little cathartic.

      Chin up la.

Think the key at this stage of the season is just to recognise when you've made mistakes (or been unlucky) and move to rectify them quickly.

      The cream will rise!

Not a brag. I was at 1.7M GW17 last year. Finished in nose bleed territory.

We have weapons of destruction in our hand now. Use em wisely.

Sure, I'm not really too down about it just needed to vent a little and move on - pretty sure this season will be harder to climb than last year but I'll give it my best shot!

But no, I'm giving my substandard troops at least one week more to save their skins.

Would any of you guys consider Holding if the Mustafi transfer doesn't materalise in the end, as it well might? Seems like a cheap way into the Arsenal defence atm, especially with their excellent run of fixtures over the next 6-7 GWs.

I'm considering him but as you said only if the transfer doesn't materialise.

With Deulofeu and Vardy set to drop tonight, should I go:

    A. Deulofeu and Vardy to Tadic and Lukaku (double Southampton midfield with Redmond); or
    B. Deulofeu to Townsend (also due to drop and soak up the 0.2m drop)?

I'm not sure any of those will drop, Vardy maybe. Keeping Del myself.

Is there any chance Gray misses this GW because of the outstanding FA charges?

Don't think it's likely, we'd have heard something about it by now. Possibly GW4 onwards though.

Not sure if Bolasie will b named in starting line-up. Maybe Aguero captain?

Wilson brace, Gray blank then ban, all Gray owners shift to Wislon who gets a triple price rise.

    Any chance?

Tons of casuals just pick whoever scored last week. So yes, in that scenario definitely possible.

    Defence is currently:

    Jakupovic, Heaton
Valencia, Stones, Friend (!), Amat, Wasilewski

    2FT's

    Which option is best?

    1. Heaton----Pickford
Friend----5.0 def-PVA, Funes Mori, Williams, Janmaat

    2. Friend----Evans (if fit), or Holding or any other 4.5

What you think fellow Scouters, all set for the weekend...?

    Foster
    Stones Valencia Morgan
    Barkley Hazard (vc) Lamela Redmond
    Zlatan Kun(c) Rondon

    Subs: Jaku Friend Capoue Amat

Zlatan (c) is tempting but when Kun is on fire, he's hard to ignore..?

Hey, that's some feedback, and I'll take it, cheers LR.

Got rid of Firmino (before his fall) and got in Barkley.
