Boro are forced to shuffle their back four in the absence of left-back George Friend through injury, but Daniel Ayala is fit to start and makes his first appearance of the season.
As for West Brom, they shift Jonny Evans to central defence with Jonas Olsson dropping to the bench. Brendan Galloway makes his first Baggies start in the league at left-back, while young Sam Field makes his debut in midfield in what looks to be a five-man setup.
