Suspensions

Aguero Suspension Confirmed

Sergio Aguero will serve a three-match ban after the FA upheld their charge of violent conduct issued on Tuesday.

The verdict arrives as a result of a meeting of an independent panel at the FA, following Manchester City’s decision to contest the initial charge.

Aguero will now miss the next two Gameweeks, ruling him out of the Manchester derby on September 10, plus the plum Etihad meeting with Bournemouth in Gameweek 5.

Now we must make our own decision.

For some, this was made by activating the Gameweek 4 Wildcard.

Already a hugely popular window to carry out the refresh, Aguero’s troubles will have prompted greater numbers to hit the button.

Those with Wildcards active can now go about disposing of the Argentine’s services and distributing the funds over two players – potentially bringing in a midfield heavy-hitter as their Gameweek 4 captain.

Chelsea’s Eden Hazard, the resurgent Raheem Sterling and the Arsenal pairing of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil top the bill.

The Gunners’ pairing look particularly attractive as a means of acquiring a Gameweek 4 captain – Arsenal face Southampton at the Emirates.

Those without a Wildcard and with just a single free transfer available face a tougher decision.

With Zlatan Ibrahimovic already in almost 60% of squads, our sights must be lowered to consider the likes of Diego Costa and Romelu Lukaku.

Alternatively, we can venture into the mid-price and absorb a transfer hit to acquire one of the aforementioned midfield targets.

Riding out the two Gameweeks with Aguero benched is clearly an option. However, it’s the threat from the Arsenal pair that looks dangerous.

Wildcard squads and those who commit two transfers will likely target one of Sanchez and Ozil and, if they deliver with the armband, it could create a major swing in Gameweek 4.

The key, however, is the plan heading into Gameweek 6 for Aguero’s return.

City travel to the Liberty Stadium to face Swansea – a fixture that looks potentially profitable for Aguero.

Trading him out now looks to be the option if we can be certain to devise a bullet-proof plan to get him back ahead of Gameweek 6.

Again, those with the Wildcard should have the advantage; they can plan their squad around a strategy of banking their Gameweek 5 transfer, ensuring that the funds to bring back the City man can be unlocked with two transfers leading into Gameweek 6.

We have a Burning Question on the Aguero situation, the strategies and the targets arriving in the next 24 hours.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Aguero out for a -4 or Aguero back in (GW6) for a -4

Surely, take the -4 now and WC him in for free in GW6, by then we will have a better idea of who we actually want in our WC teams. Most of these WC drafts I'm seeing are very punchy

Rotating keepers better than a mid priced option imo, particularly with points for saves.
Stones unsure on, but struggling to take out a cheap route into City defence.
Sterling has been good in every game this season.

    JAMIE_GAWA just now
    A few interesting differentials
I think the following players are being slightly overlooked and could be good differentials.

PVA (6.3%) - involved in 10 goals last season, involvement in 10 goals is more pointbetter than 10 CS. He's very attacking, takes some set pieces, likes too shoot, good underlying stats, bap magnet and Sunderland have now signed a quality CDM and Kones future is now clear aswell who a good player.

Sunderlands weakness was RB and they have now signed a RB on loan aswell as Denayer who maybe also be potentially good.

Moyes has also said that Sunderland will 3-5-2 sometimes which means he will player LWB.

    SNODGRASS - 4%

Snodgrass is the focal point of the Hull attack, good underlying stats, likes to shoot, selfish at times in a good way, on all set pieces, on pens, high average position.

Hull have also done suprisingly well and with their new signings this will only improve their prospects.

Hull also have amazing fixtures from gw8 onwards and decent over the next four weeks with a trip to Burnley and a game against a poor Liverpool defence and Snoddy is a player you can leave in and can trust to bring in the points and not waste transfers on your cheap mid.

Costa already 2 yellow cards from 3.
0 Baps despite getting the winning goal twice.
Always good for a goal but equally good for a -2 🙂

Sterling looks like a good prospect, but are people not concerned about the heavy rotation about to start at city...

Gundogan to come into midfield pushes Silva forward, and Sane to come in too. 5 top players (KDB, Silva, Nolito, Sterling, Sane) for 3 positions behind Aguero when he returns.

Aye. Won't be going near Sterling.

Sane will always be backup IMO. Not too concerned about rotation at the moment, Pep evidently likes Sterling.

He also likes Silva, Nolito and KDB (and paid £40M for Sane). Rotation is coming!

I don't think so, but by all means avoid them 🙂

Pep. Rotation? Im not so sure rotation will happen. Certainly not until later in the season. Pep is a "get the job done first" manager.

You sure about that? I read he was prone to rotation at Bayern.

I don't know that first hand, as I don't follow the Bundesliga.

So everyone seems to be getting Costa to replace Aguero, but, price aside, is he the best pick? I've got Hazard already and would rather look at Vardy (with possible pens again) for example, maybe even Defoe.

Antonio, better form and fixtures imo. Will no longer play at RB too!
