The Stock Check – Gameweek 6 – Monday

A typically disciplined Burnley performance nullifies Watford’s recent attacking verve and earns a precious three points at Turf Moor. Here’s the Stock Check after Monday brought the curtain down on Gameweek 6.

On the Rise

Tom Heaton
A second clean sheet of the season promoted Heaton back to the top of the FPL keeper rankings on 27 points.

Priced at 4.6, Heaton goes on confirming his value in well-drilled Burnley defence that, at Turf Moor at least, should go on generating shut-outs.

Michael Keane
Arriving in the Premier League with a reputation as a threat from set-pieces, tonight Keane delivered his first Premier League strike.

Five goals during Burnley’s promotion season flagged up his goal threat and saw him claim a 5.0 initial price in the FPL. While that has since fallen to 4.9, we’ll need to see more from Keane to warrant that outlay with Heaton an option in goal.

Steven Defour
If we ever go knocking for a Burnley midfield with 6.0 to spend then Defour will be our go-to option.

Clearly a class act, the Belgian has registered three assists a goal and six bonus points in his Burnley tenure so far. He is, however, still to complete 90 minutes.

In Decline

Jose Holebas
We were grateful to see him fit to claim his starting role at left wing-back but this was not an enjoyable evening for the Greek.

Pinned back in the first-half by a determined Clarets, Holebas was forced into a traditional left-back role with Walter Mazzarri’s tactical changes as the Hornets chased the game.

More significantly, he earned a fourth booking of the season and is now just a single yellow away from a one-match suspension. After suffering defeat in the EFL Cup, they also don’t have the option of allowing him to absorb any suspension outside of Premier League action.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    A) Lukaku -> Ibra
    B) Benteke + Mane -> Ibra + Lallana
    C) no need to bring in Ibra

I'm just scared of a haul this weekend and with more than 50% still owning him, my rank could go from 2k to 100k if he scores big.

You don't want to miss Lukaku's haul either. But do you have FTs. Will you sell Ibra after the GW?

1 FT, 1.3 ITB, still haven't used WC

    Foster / Jaku
    Valencia / Stones / Williams / Friend / Amat
    Sanchez / Sterling / Antonio / Mirallas / Capoue
    Aguero / Costa / Rondon

Players I'd like: Liverpool mid, Walcott, Son, Lukaku, Defoe, Deeney, Rashford?, Austin?,

I think I'm happy to keep Rondon and Costa this week for their good fixtures. Should I do Mirallas --> Lallana/Walcott/Son? Or save the transfer until I have 2 and can distribute the funds differently to get a more expensive Liverpool mid?

It would be Walcott or liverpool mid for me. With Sanchez already I'd go Lallana. Not advising this to others but I think I am going Antonio > Walcott for a hit.

You'd make that move now instead of waiting a week and possibly being able to get Firmino or something?

It's a call on whether you think Lallana can keep pace with the others at a cheaper price. Maybe not completely but if you can use that money elsewhere...

You seem keen on waiting for Firmino. Positives for this next week should be pools hardest fixture for some time and you have the international break to consider option with 2FTs

What do you think of this WC...

    Cech Pickford

    Clyne Bellerin Holebas Smith Amat

    Firmino Snodgrass Payet Sanchez Capoue

    Aguero Deeney Rashford

    0.0 ITB...

I can do a variation of snodgrass payet --> antonio sterling... but i got to fund the money from bellerin + capoue --> kos + fletcher or something like firmino to coutinho...

any comment or advice would be great!!

Even though I have Holebas myself, he is on 4YC. Just a thought......

I'd go Antonio Sterling of those two combos mentioned

    2. big_cliff
      • 8 Years

I would get Coleman instead of Clyne. I'm not sure if Payet's a good pick atm only because West Ham don't look very good atm. I would do something like Firm+Payet to Mane + Sterling

      1. shibaz10

is mane really worth it over coutinho and firmino in these tough budget!

I believe so but that's just what I think. Time will tell. They all seem good options and like many have mentioned on here, they will share points. It's probably just a matter of getting one and sticking with him.

For me, in order of preference, it would be Mane>Couts>Firms>Lallana. Lallana has really surprised me but I'm not complaining

Man City have a really nice run of fixtures after the Spurs game and I reckon it's only a matter of time before they start stringing a few clean sheets together. My prediction for the player everyone will want in a few weeks is...

    Kolarov

    Why?
    - Pep loves him. He's featured in every game so far and completed the full 90 in all but one
    - Clean sheets will come
    - He loves to shoot, has a great left foot and will get more than his share of attacking returns

Don't expect many wil agree due to City's lack of CS so far and his price tag but you read it here first!

I agree, Pep seems to love him and you'll get the occasional explosion of points.

Much more appealing than Stones of you can find the extra.

    What to do with this?

    Foster, Jaku
    Stones, Baines, Shaw, Friend, Amat
    Sanchez, Firmino, Barkley, Lanzini, Capoue
    Aguero, Lukaku, Deeney

    1 FT, 0.2 ITB

Thinking of using my WC during the int break(is that a good idea!?). With that in mind, which player should i bring in for a 1 GW punt?

I would replace Shaw and try to get 3 decent defenders out if Baines is ok. Try Cedric in that price range with nice fixture for one week punt.

Best move here, assuming Baines gets passed fit? I'm tempted with B the most given his recent form AND upcoming fixtures (bur/SWA/MID/sun).

    A) Save
    B) Santi -> Walcott
    C) Santi -> Lallana
    D) Santi -> Son

    Cech
    Baines, Valencia, Kone
    Sanchez, Antonio, Santi, Capoue
    Aguero, Ibra, Defoe

Possibly but wouldn't read too much into it, last season when he broke into the side he had a consistent run of about 10 games where he scored well.

He slowed down when he got moved to RB so if he gets moved again, that's the time to sell.

It's quiet in the DZ right now so hope ye don't mind a repost. Decent rank too so am I really risking it with hits. Been thinking about this for awhile so not as knee jerk as it would appear.

    Seriously considering
-4 this week for Antonio > Walcott
    And another -4 next week
For Capoue > Lalanna and Valencia > to 5.0
Note 352 so I want mids as strong as possible would give this

    Heaton Jaku
    Bellerin Coleman Lovern? Evans Amat
    Sanchez Walcott Firmino Lallana Sterling
    Kun Rashford Diomande.

Looking to gw7 anyone thinking that man city may loose to tottenham? Man city havent beaten tottenham since early 2015 and will be without KDB. What about arsenal v burnley? Burnley havent conceded more than 1 goal at home in a game in any of the competitions this year even looking back at the championship earlier this year. They have played liverpool and tottenham at home (liverpool lost 2-0 and tottenham drew 1-1) Last time arsenal played burnley Arsenal won 2-1 but at emirates.

V good point on Burnely defence pity fixtures are mixed and don't rotate well with someone like WB which would be nice. Which Burnley defender would you go for it taking a punt?

in 6 GWs, Burnley have scored 5 times in total. Hence I would not look at any burnley player from the Attacking point of view. If you want to bring in a defender, you would purely think from the CS point but its against Arsenal and they have been a riot lately. I don't think Burnley can hold Sanchez that well.

Would not consider this week for sure. Might after that though and agree no attacking potential.

Only if you have absolutely no other issues with your team and have a FT.

Also if you do it, do it at the end of the week just before the deadline

Im taking a punt and bringing in arsenal players next week. Burnley are a very good team at home and even though Arsenal kept a clean sheet last week at home their defence has conceded every other week. Also even though Arsenal are running riot they beat liverpool 2-0 after Liverpool had put 4 goals on arsenal the previous week. Watford have also been running riot with goals yet watford just lost 2-0 to them. Aguero is good but he wont score every week and tottenhams defence is one of the best in the league. I know aguero has scored many goals against tottenham but not since early 2015 was the last one he scored against them and de bruyne featured in that match.

Some good points mate. I agree, Burney do look a different beast at home, defensively at least. But I wouldn't say Arsenal were running riot until GW5.

I feel Aguero this season could be like Suarez in his final season. Pep already has City looking like a Guardiola team and then it doesn't matter who they play, they will score goals and I bet Aguero will be involved in a lot of those. I'm not saying Ibra couldn't score more than him this gameweek (I'd be very happy if he did, I have both of them) but i err on the side of caution (saving a FT over a one-week punt) and that's what I recommend.

But high risk, high reward my friend

Is Lallana a better prospect over Antonio or Sterling?

Coin toss really. I feel Sterling's the best of that lot but also more expensive

I already have Antonio and Sterling. And Sterling is playing against Spurs this week and I really dont want to have 2 City players playing against a tough team. Wanted to take a punt for a week with Lallana hence.

Ah. How much of value do you have in Sterling? Say you bought him at 8.0 or 8.1, you'd be losing a fair bit of value by selling him just for a one -week punt. City's fixtures after this one are still good and they're a team in insatiable form so fixtures, personally, don't apply.

That being said, if you see no other holes in your team that need fixing and don't want to save a FT, and it's your gut telling you to do it, go with it, my friend

got him at 8.3, I know I wont be able to take him once I kick him out. The only worry is the fact that Liv have players scoring from all around their MF. And to capitalize that, I wanted to bring in 2 key players. I do agree with you on that but for some strange reason, I know Lallana is going to be a great pick for next week.

Go with your gut, mate. And good luck! 🙂

P.S. I do think Sterling could be a season-keeper, at his price, form and the team he's playing in

    Hey folks,

I'm torn in between using my WC or taking a couple of hits to some players out/in
It's killing me not having any pools in there and their upcoming fixtures look ripe for the FPL picking.
My team needs about 4 changes minimum

    Foster (Heaton)
    Stones, Baines, Shaw, friend, Paredes
    Barkley, Townsend, capoue, Sanchez, fletcher
    Ibra, kun, gray

    Any suggestions?

Want double Pool mids, but can't afford Tonio to Lallana now.

Anyone going Milner? I mean, nailed, pens, can score from open play too..

Plays LB. Only scoring option would be pens.

Milner can get random assist with very talented attacking Pool team around him, plus their movement in the box is creating many pen opportunities. Pen is an easy goal, but obviously bit of a risky pick that could pay off.

I'd rank the Liverpool mids Mane, Firmino, Lallana, Cout, Milner in that order of desirability...

Why rank coutinho so low? Coutinho has been very dangerous last few games. He pretty much assured assists and scores pretty regularly

Not a bad option, but I think Mane, Firmino and Lallana have greater goal threat. Whichever you pick, you risk one of the others having greater involvement in any one game. Their midfield has several good options but points are going to be shared.

Snodgrass is a good choice i think. Whilst he may not score against chelsea (he might though - chelsea not in great form) hull have very good fixtures. Snodgrass also regularly takes free kicks and penalties

+1 for Snodgrass. Bench him this week and play GW8 onwards
