The Stock Check – Gameweek 7 – Sunday

The Zlatan Ibrahimovic exodus is set to pick up pace after another blank at home to Stoke City. Dele Alli is in the goals as Spurs end Pep’s unbeaten run and Laurent Koscielny climbs the defender standings after a fortuitous clincher at Turf Moor.

On the Rise

Heung-Min Son
After notching a midweek Champions League winner in Moscow, the South Korean caught the eye yet again as Spurs ended City’s 100% Premier League record under Pep Guardiola.

Deployed as the lone striker, Son laid on the assist for Tottenham’s second and now has four goals and two assists in just four appearances – that’s already more than his output (four goals, one assist) for 2015/16.

Notably, Son also challenged Erik Lamela for Spurs second half spot-kick, missed by the Argentine.

Subject to over 56,000 transfers in already in the Gameweek – more than any player – he continues to look Spurs’ main threat in the ongoing absence of Harry Kane.

Dele Alli
Overshadowed by Son’s recent displays, the Spurs starlet has stepped up his consistency over the last few Gameweeks. After dropping from 8.5 to 8.2, Alli’s goal means he has scored or assisted in three of the last four, offering FPL managers yet another in-form option in the centre of the park.

Laurent Koscielny
The Frenchman may have been fortunate with Sunday’s winner at Turf Moor, but his 15-point Fantasy Premier League haul has now catapulted him to the top of the defender rankings, 10 ahead of team-mate Hector Bellerin.

Koscielny has now netted twice in the last four, and with home encounters against Swansea City, Middlesbrough and Bournemouth, allied with a trip to Sunderland in the next six, additional clean sheets look on the cards.

Theo Walcott
While Alexis Sanchez suffered a rare blank, Walcott earned the assist for Koscielny’s last-gasp winner to maintain his recent output.

Walcott has now scored or assisted in five of the opening seven Gameweeks and, at a price of 7.6, is just seven points behind the 11.2-priced Chilean.

Having also netted both goals in the midweek Champions League win over FC Basel, the Gunners winger is becoming increasingly influential.

Virgil Van Dijk
Overshadowed by full-back pair Cedric Soares and Ryan Bertrand in the previous two fixtures, the Dutchman served a reminder of his potential by grabbing the maximum bonus points away to Leicester.

Van Dijk has produced almost twice the number of clearances, blocks and interceptions than any defensive team-mate and also leads the way at the back for efforts on goal.

Claude Puel’s side now have six successive shut-outs in all competitions, though with Man City, Chelsea and Liverpool in the next five, the short-term schedule is somewhat taxing.

Joe Allen
The summer signing netted for the second successive Gameweek after bagging Stoke’s leveller at Old Trafford. Allen also scored at home to West Brom last weekend and, at a price of just 4.8 in FPL, is shaping up to be a viable value option as the fixtures turn in the Potters’ favour.

Daley Blind
Stationed at left-back once again, the Dutchman managed to pick up two bonus points at home to the Potters thanks to his all-round contribution. Blind has now produced 14 points in his two outings as a full-back, suggesting that a fit Luke Shaw will face a battle to regain a starting role.

In Decline

Zlatan Ibrahimovic
It’s one goal and a single assist in five for the United striker after Sunday’s blank in the stalemate with Stoke.

Ibrahimovic has dropped 0.4 in price in the last two Gameweeks and with the international break now upon us; the exodus is already picking up speed ahead of back-to-back trips to Liverpool and Chelsea.

Over 56,000 FPL managers have parted company since the passing of yesterday’s deadline as the clamour for in-form midfield assets intensfies.

Aleksandar Kolarov
The Serbian retained his starting role despite an abject midweek display against Celtic. Sunday’s early own goal perhaps sums up Kolarov’s current lack of self-belief – with one clean sheet in seven now for City, Pep Guardiola will surely be considering a recall for Gael Clichy as he looks to bounce back from his first Premier League defeat.

Vincent Janssen
Dropped to the bench against City, it’s clear that Mauricio Pochettino has identified Heung-Min Son as the central striker in the absence of the injured Harry Kane. We may have been gifted an excellent new value option in midfield, but, in Janssen, we appear to have missed out on a new option up front.

Riyad Mahrez, Jamie Vardy
While the goalless draw means that the Foxes have conceded just once in four home league fixtures, the Leicester City pair yet again failed to serve up the points.

Mahrez now has one assist in six and Vardy has netted twice in the first seven – both are still found in 14% of FPL squads, but we can surely expect extended sales over the break.

    Baines -> Pieters/Cameron
    It leaves me:
    Koscielny, Lovren, Holebas, Pieters/Cameron, Amat

Too light defence? Should I take Stones instead of Pieters/Cameron?

I'll take Son's dribbling and shooting, playing on an attacking minded team vs the chance that the ball will end up on Antonio's noggin and into the net.

Need to free up funds for Shaw > Kosc. Who to give way?

        A) Foster > Grant (already own Pickford)
        B) Sterling > Son
        C) Bony > Austin/Wilson

Obviously all transfers are pending international break.

I'm on WC and i have taken Stones out temporarily until the end of next week. hopefully he drops to 4.8.. first name in my defense! looked absolutely fantastic yesterday. think he is the main CB at City now. his partner is always going to be the one in question

I have a tricky week ahead (lots of my team is playing each other!). Is there anyway for me to limit the damage on the below?

        Cech (Jaku)

        Williams Koscienly Lovren (Evans) (Amat)

        Sterling Coutinho Walcott Capoue (Gundogan)

        Kun Lukaku Deeney

        Also, Coutinho out?

You might just have to suffer through City vs. Everton - I will be, I have Williams Kun Kaku like you!

Don't think there's much you can do, they're all good picks to be honest

I've got Lovren too, and that's who I'm removing (for an ARS defender, see below).

Yes, when fit he'll play 90% of the time, which will be the same as Walker.

Every now and again they maybe be rested for 1 game, but that's more likely to happen in the Champions League / Cup Games imo.

        Aguero, Defoe, Deeney

Thinking of going with this for the next 3-4 gws, got AOA left so probably going to play GW9 as fixtures look good for all attackers. No Spurs coverage though.

Not really a headache. Benching Snoddy GW8 against Bou(a) as I have Francis and I think they will keep them out. GW9 AOA. GW10 benching Defoe (ARS). After that ill downgrade one of the strikers to Austin and use the money elsewhere.

A: Ibra and Fletcher to Benteke and Firmino/Walcott (-4). Then play AoA.

B: Ibra and Collins to Benteke and Koscielney (-4)

C: Ibra, Collins and Fletcher to Wilson, Koscielney and Walcott (-8)

Think B looks after you for both the short and long term - you have Sanchez anyway (like me!) so you don't need Wally I'd say atm, an Arsenal defender is my way to go, and I think (see below for my team!) it's a good way for you to go, too!

So people think Walcott is a better option to Son based on fixtures? Spurs have just proven they can score against anyone. Son has outscored Walcott playing 3 games less. Easiest decision for me as a Sanchez owner as well (although that doesn't matter to me as I don't buy the coverage theory)

Walcotts output is nowhere near Sons. Not saying Wally is a bad pick but just no room at the inn for me with Sanchez, Son, Firmino, Sterling.

I'm pleased to hear that view as I brought Son in over Walcott after much deliberation, I also have Sanchez. Arsenals fixtures are definitely a lot more favourable but Spurs will be filled with confidence after beating City and a 7.5 mid playing up front for a decent side is hard to ignore in my opinion.

Wally is an excellent pick if you don't have Sanchez and can't stretch to him. Otherwise, I'd say Son, especially in your case.

I'm doubling up on Arsenal first, but Son coming in is definitely on the cards for me once Diego Costa gets his 5th YC (so I can finance it)

Not doubting Son's quality. City arent a solid defence yet every team who has played them has scored against them so wasnt surprised spurs scored. Walcott edges it for me as he is playing much weaker defence units(SWA, MID, sun) at home twice whereas as Son is playing 3 teams (wba, bou, LEI) who are good at sitting deep and soaking up the pressure which might affect his output. But that said Son would definitely be a part of my 5 man midfield if i was wild carding now.

Hi all, cheeky repost from last night: 2FT advice please, wana keep my bandwagon rolling on 🙂

            Team is
            Pickford / Jaku
            Williams Walker Lovren Amat 3.9
            Sanchez Capoue Firmino Antonio Fletch
            Kun Kaku Costa
            0.6itb / 2FT.

Thinking I need an Arsenal defender, and I think it'll have to be Antonio who goes to finance it.

            How does this look:
            Lovren ---> Bellerin
            Antonio ---> Snodgrass (fixtures good)

Can't see any other midfielder (King? Wilshere!?) in the sub 6.2 category - even if I go Kosc/Mustafi instead of Bellerin that only gives me 6.6/7 which doesn't get me anything either.

Those are the right moves *after internationals*, right?

            Thanks!

            - I

Hello there agent "I"! Unsure about moving out Antonio for someone like Snoddy. That's because I think Hull are a poor attacking team and there are too many outstanding midfield options like Wally/Son/Sterling. West Ham could also come back for real after the break and then Antonio will thrive.

To get the bandwagon rolling I would recommend cashing out on Costa to get ahead of the masses. He has been brilliant but now faces an imminent ban and tough fixs.

I would use that money, either to upgrade Fletcher or Williams/Lovren. You could also do both for a hit if you like.

Difficult. You don't need 4 premium defenders to start with. If you need to you would have to downgrade a mid and maybe Costa to Lukaku, but then again is it worth it? maybe Walcott is good enough to cover Sanchez.

I think youre okay without Sanchez given internationals and possible fatigue / injury.

I like your team, you cover a lot of the teams.

I decided to just go all out blazing with a power 5 midfield instead of investing in defence since I can stomach having to pay 6.0 for CS.

                Kun and Kaku upfront

Depends if you're willing to spend.

After United, Liverpool have great fixtures - Karius definitely an option. Always Bravo and Cech too if you wana go premium!

Cheaper alternative is Boruc. Bournemouth have decent fixtures and look fairly solid, plus Hull is next.

is aguero get away with criticism more than others?

a glut of pens and the referee missing what was later deemed to be a red card offence has pimped what would otherwise be 2 goals and no assists in 5 games. no way near 13mil material.

zlatan is being shed like crazy after a similar penless return of 3 goals (going to say no assists as that's what it should have been!) in 7.

pens are a factor of course but when judging form it's not something i look at. both have frustrated me, but keeping faith in zlatan for pretty much the same reason im keeping faith in aguero (he's quality) seems more maverick

Hey AB, you're definitely right; he's just worth so much, and the money would have to be re-invested, that people think oh well might as well stick with him rather than have to faff around, only for him to start scoring and become "essential" again. Also a lot of Kun auto-captain weeks coming up.

Think if it's the choice between Zlatan and Kun, it's always going to be the latter.

Ibra sure should have scored yesterday... but still, he is a creator and got qualites + some abnormal tricks up his sleeve and he will start deliver FPL-points again.
In my opinion he is somewhat fixtureproof and im sure he could get points vs. Pool no doubt.

If u wanna get rid of him, go ahead, but im not getting him out of my team based on his last performances.

I'm really thinking this - I'm doing Lovren --> Bellerin, so I need to take out Antonio to finance it.

I only have 6.2, and Snodgrass is the only man there that I want to have - there's also King or an outrageous punt on Wilshere, but it's such a poor bracket for value (arguably other than Capoue, who might've fizzled out)

Fixtures and if Hull do anything, Snodgrass will be the man I think.
