Stock Check – Gameweek 12 – Monday

An emphatic display by West Brom urges Fantasy managers re-assess the potential of a pair of their attacking assets while basking in the comfort of a belated clean sheet. Here’s the Stock Check following Gameweek 12’s concluding fixture…

Matt Phillips
Fantasy managers started the evening lamenting the absence of Nacer Chadli through injury but, on the evidence of recent performances, Phillip’s could well supersede him as the key target in the West Brom midfield.

His goal and assist returns this evening earned him back-to-back double figure returns and took him to two goals and four assists in his last seven Premier League starts.

Priced at 5.1 to Chadli’s 6.4, the former QPR winger looks to have the advantage as a fourth/fifth midfield option. Indeed, even when fit, Chadli’s starting role now looks to be a puzzle given West Brom’s current form.

Salomon Rondon
The Venezuelan has produced a string of impressive performances without returns as the Baggies’ lone striker but, tonight’s goal and assist brought his drought to an end.

Priced at 6.5, the Baggies frontman looks an option in this form, although on Chadli’s return, he will likely relinquish spot-kick duties which dents his appeal – along with the potential offered by Phillips.

Nonetheless, with Hull City, Watford and Swansea City in his next four Gameweeks, Rondon may tempt some short-term investors seeking a differential.

The West Brom Defence
With a combined ownership of 50%, many FPL managers benefited from a first Baggies clean sheet since Gameweek 3.

That’s a surprising statistic given the emphasis on defence by Tony Pulis. Sitting back and allowing Burnley to come onto them, tonight’s approach was typical of a West Brom side who prioritise defensive stability.

Gareth McAuley remains our weapon of choice – a menacing presence at set-pieces that warrants the extra outlay for the aforementioned fixtures. But Chris Brunt demands to be monitored and, once we can be sure of his prolonged starting role, he arguably presents even greater potential for attacking returns.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

My squad - thoughts on what to do? No money in the bank

    Heaton - Grant
    Luiz - Holebas - McAuley - Smith - Amat
Hazard - Coutinho - Firmino - Walcott - De Roon
    Aguero - Lukaku - Austin

I'd save the transfer this week.

I've got same front 3 and this weekend doesn't seem the one to change that up.

Midfield v strong and good coverage.

    Better option?

    A) Williams to Cedric

    B) Save FT

I want to switch to Cedric but I don't know if I should do it this week or wait another week.

I don't own Lukaku so I definitely want him to blank against Cedric. I own Redmond & Austin so I definitely dont want a Williams CS.

    Appreciate your thoughts!

Don't really want to shake things up too much, and it's a bit sideways to consider Fuchs or Lovren out with their fixtures (although I'd love Alonso). Unless I downgrade Allen & upgrade Amat/Kingsley (though either could be the wrong move). Thoughts?

    Pickford (Jakupovic)
Lovrent - Fuchs - Evans - Amat (Kingsley)
Sanchez - Firmino - Coutinho (Allen, Fletcher)
    Aguero - Costa - Lukaku

Lukaku to Austin and upgrade Allen.

I'd keep Lovren, Fuchs, Evans for this week they all have decent fixtures.

Sick of giving Sterling "just 1 more game" but now he has Burnley, so final final chance or get rid(for who?) First thinking is save and then get some Chelsea in next few weeks...

It's less, "give him one more game", more "which midfielder do I want most this week" and if that is anyone you can transfer Sterling to, then do it

With regards to lukaku, obviously he's got some tough fixtures coming up and it seems a lot of people are going for better options, and ideally I would be trading him now but I know I'm going to want him back in, I stand to lose .5m transferring him now, do we see him dropping significantly or maybe just .2/.3 over the next few weeks

    Holebas - Kosc - Fuchs - Alonso

    Aguero - Lukaku - Benteke

    Jaku - Redmond - Amat - Allen

      Your take on Giroud?

      1. GoonerByron
        • 12 Years
        7 years, 5 months ago

I'm not too sure yet! I was going to get Costa in this week by downgrading Allen + upgrading Benteke but decided to do Stones -> Alonso as wanted him in and didn't want to lose value on Stones! May still take the hit to just do Lukaku -> Costa, he looks unbeatable this season.

Kane, no plans.. It would involve a switch from Aguero probably and not something I'm brave enough to do (Probably ever)

Giroud.. I'd have him in already if I knew he'd definitely start. He should do next game but don't want to take the risk! 🙂

I just think the Che v Spurs game could be a 0-0/1-1 game with minimum upside for Haz/Kane/Costa, I gotta go with the potential of Aguero v Burnley.
Also I think 1 more week will give more information to make a more informed choice and potential injuries/bans may be a factor. That yellow gotta come soon Andy.
