Stock Check – Gameweek 12 – Monday

An emphatic display by West Brom urges Fantasy managers re-assess the potential of a pair of their attacking assets while basking in the comfort of a belated clean sheet. Here’s the Stock Check following Gameweek 12’s concluding fixture…

Matt Phillips
Fantasy managers started the evening lamenting the absence of Nacer Chadli through injury but, on the evidence of recent performances, Phillip’s could well supersede him as the key target in the West Brom midfield.

His goal and assist returns this evening earned him back-to-back double figure returns and took him to two goals and four assists in his last seven Premier League starts.

Priced at 5.1 to Chadli’s 6.4, the former QPR winger looks to have the advantage as a fourth/fifth midfield option. Indeed, even when fit, Chadli’s starting role now looks to be a puzzle given West Brom’s current form.

Salomon Rondon
The Venezuelan has produced a string of impressive performances without returns as the Baggies’ lone striker but, tonight’s goal and assist brought his drought to an end.

Priced at 6.5, the Baggies frontman looks an option in this form, although on Chadli’s return, he will likely relinquish spot-kick duties which dents his appeal – along with the potential offered by Phillips.

Nonetheless, with Hull City, Watford and Swansea City in his next four Gameweeks, Rondon may tempt some short-term investors seeking a differential.

The West Brom Defence
With a combined ownership of 50%, many FPL managers benefited from a first Baggies clean sheet since Gameweek 3.

That’s a surprising statistic given the emphasis on defence by Tony Pulis. Sitting back and allowing Burnley to come onto them, tonight’s approach was typical of a West Brom side who prioritise defensive stability.

Gareth McAuley remains our weapon of choice – a menacing presence at set-pieces that warrants the extra outlay for the aforementioned fixtures. But Chris Brunt demands to be monitored and, once we can be sure of his prolonged starting role, he arguably presents even greater potential for attacking returns.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Would love some extra opinion here.

    Smith/Ozil/Allen (bench) to Alonso/Coutihno/DeRoon (bench) for a -8?

Leaves me with all of Cout/Mane/Firm before moving Mane in an away fixture or two.

How about spacing it? Start with Ozil to cout first.

      Whats the hurry?

All 3 moves leave me with just 0.2 ITB so there's little wriggle room for rises from Alonso and Cout, coupled with a drop from Allen meaning I probably couldn't do the remaining Alonso move in a week or two. Think I might just pull the trigger

most here would frown over a -8. If you think it's wise, just pull the trigger.

IMO, you'll recover those 8 points in the short to mid term, with those changes - though Alonso's next two are rough.

Those changes look solid. -8 is a lot if the triple up does not work out your in trouble. High risk/ reward option I think

Could a strategy like transfer rotating Kane and Costa on 1-3 week basis ever work? It means hits when other transfers are required and Rises and Falls going to waste some TV too I think. Even if .2 is gained you lose .1 selling ...

    Morning all, guys.

    1 FT, 0.3 ITB.

    Foster
    Fuchs Mcauley Clyne
    Redmond Coutinho Hazard Firmino (c)
    Costa Deeney Aguerooo

    Bench: Jaku, Amat, Pieters, Capoue

I think i should save FT. How do u think? Any advices would be appreciated.
And who to (c)? I'm on Firmino now.
    Have a nice day!

I'd be looking to shift Deeney. Saving the FT might give you more options to do that next week though.

You have one wildcard for the first half of the season and one for the second half of the season.

The other chips can be played at any time during the season, but you only get one of each during the whole season.

U can't use both in the same week. TC coutinho seems decent for this week.
But generally pple keep it aside for a dgw

Personally I'm probably saving my Triple Captaincy chip for a double gameweek in 2017. That's playing the percentages, but there are people who get good scores from using it in a single gameweek.

The all out attack chip is not highly rated. Some use it when all 8 attackers have good fixtures. Personally, I prefer to save it as a defensive escape card - i.e. if you only have 2 available defenders for one week.

If you are asking this question you probably need to be aware of this also - you can't use two chips in the same gameweek. That is you can't WC and bench boost you need to WC the week before for instance.
Bench boost and Triple captain probably best used in double game weeks. AOA is a nothing chip down to luck.

I would recommend holding it for a week when your defence is hit by injury / suspensions or a week when the fixtures are good for a strong front 8.

        2. The Fantastic Mr Fox
          • 9 Years
          7 years, 5 months ago

Keep AoA for when ur stuck with 2 or more defenders injured/suspended or the 3rd having a terrible fixture. This is assuming ur 5th mid is a cheapie.

If ur front 8 are all good players, u can go for it when the fixtures r good.

But AoA shud be keot for that rainy day when ur supperfing from lack of players at the back

More like when you only have 3 playing defenders. can save you a minus 4 and that is about what the chip is worth.

Would you lads back Capoue and Phillips to do bits this week ? I'd consider my AoA with Coleman and Holebas in defence, Stones and Walker benched ?

              • 9 Years
              7 years, 5 months ago

Philips goes under the radar like at QPR. Capoue will no doubt score you points when he is on the bench. No way use AOA when Stones and Walker have a good chance to outscore.

Use your chips in a double game week. Most players on here will keep for double game week.. So,,,, when I bench boost in a double game week, if you have a deep squad, then all 15 players will play and get points, hopefully in two games that week.. Also triple sprain. Why triple captain coutinho when you can.triple captain him in double game week and get two triple captain games essentially

    hi guys
    need some suggestions please

    Foster
    Azpili/hole/Pieter
    Cout/wanya/kdb/capoune
    Aguero/rondon/costa

    Degea/amat/rose*/allen*.

    1FT. 0.5m

    1. Rose and allen red flagged
    2. Degea over priced would like to switch him out to free some funds

Hold Rose. I agree on DeGea - Heaton would be my choice
Rondo. Did well yesterday but fixtures are pretty bad.
Finally you have KDB so I would lose Kun and upgrade one of not two of those 3 budget midfielder.
Hold the transfer this week and consider some of the suggestions above over 2-3 weeks?

thanks. but my concern is half my bench is flagged if one of the guys do not play i wont even get a point if theres any to get. ha!
        my thoughts
        rose to cedic
        wanya to siggy
        takes a -4 hit

but gunning for a 3/4/3 formation i dnt really need a active defender. hole apzi pieter are starters unless getting injured
but this wanya sitting in my team(even the bench is jus bugging me for weeks now).

Yeah your -4 suggestion looks very nice and a little less radical than my suggestions. Two good moves I'd say.

    So Willy Wönkä benched Fletcher(8).

    He's human after all.

          Yep.Nice underwater restaurant as well.

But it's really difficult to pick a resort. So many good options and all similarly priced.

He hasn't started a single game yet this season!

I'd play Anichebe over Gundo. Gundo could get 5 minutes with Yaya back.

Interested to know FPL teams with players in Europe.

Just realised I have only 2. Austin and Sanchez.
Makes it a bit easier making tfr's early and players being fresh in a gameweek.

I don't know is the answer have Hazard already but can't decide whether to go Kane or Costa up front. Hazard and Costa could be a really good double up.
