The ScoutCast – Episode 205 – Pact

Turn down the lights and join hands. If we’re actually going to sell a fit Sergio Aguero, we’re doing this together. If we go down, we go down together.

With 31 goals in his last 33 Premier League starts, the fear attached to shedding the Manchester City is so great, we all need support before we can commit to packing his bags.

And so, a pact is drawn up in this week’s ScoutCast, as Granville, Jonty, Andy and myself swear to approach the current dilemma unified and as one.

Let’s see if we can actually go through with it.

Aguero and the Harry Kane alternative dominate much of this week’s discussion.

However, we still find time to sample your Gameweeks in “Rough with the Smooth” and tackle some of your other topics raised, including Gylfi Sigurdsson’s rising star, looming rotation risks, while also offering our views on how struggling managers can find motivation for the rest of the season.

The four of us can certainly offer a wealth of experience on that particular subject.

This episode of the ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Tuesday night. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

    Don't see many people on here fancying Valdes as keeper. But why? Middlesbrough's goals against record is pretty compelling.

      Liverpool likely to score early so that will put PVA into scoring mode as a priority for the rest of the game. Likely minus 1 or even 2 because of goals against though.

    Anyone else sceptical about Kane? He was great last season, and sure he's been injured, but his goals last weekend were scabby, he weren't great at Monaco, and he's been broadly unconvincing since the Euros. Some people claiming they're shipping out Aguero for him must be certifiable in my opinion.

      Yes too much doubt surrounding Kane. Most of his goals are coming from penalties and its almost like Milner at the start of this season all over again. Except, Kane has an amazing record scoring 20+ goals and penalties or lucky deflection goals, playing for a top 5 side should at least have him 15-20 goals.

      But don't think people should get him ignoring Costa who has just been phenomenal and is still cheaper than Kane.

      1. meenabakery

      Has the morale , proven quality, fixtures and is 2.5 cheaper than Aguero .

      Can't really understand it. Spurs aren't on fire at the moment. Goals were tap ins and pens. Lukaku scored 12pts 2 game weeks ago. Costa is understandable, but I'd wait on Kane.

    Heaton (Pick)
    Holebas, McAuley, Amat (Pieters, Smith)
    Haz, Ozil, Mane (C), Firm (V) (De Roon)

      Walker Stones Alonso (pieters, amat)

    Best route here? All options get Hazard & Kane. C) keeps Aguero vs A) & B) which keeps Sanchez...

    A)
    GW13: Wally & Defoe -> Hazard & Anichebe
    GW14: Kun -> Kane
    GW15: Capoue -> Siggy

    B)
    GW13: Defoe -> Anichebe
    GW14: Stones & Kun -> McAuley & Kane
    GW15: Capoue -> Hazard

    C)
    GW13: Collins -> Nyom
    GW14: Sanchez & Defoe -> Philips & Kane
    GW15: Wally -> Hazard

    Cech, Pickford
    Clyne, Stones, Kone, Amat, Collins
    Sanchez, Firmino, Coutinho, Walcott
    Aguero, Defoe, Austin

    Bank 0.1m, 2FT

    Guys, thought on this team please

    Cech

    Amat, Pieters, Evans

    Hazard, Mane(C) Firmino. Eriksen **

    Lukaku, Austin, Rooney **

    Bench : Heaton, Bellerin, Allen, Reid

    0.9 ITB, 1 FT

    Good to go ?

    Thought of transferring out rooney for giroud but after yesterday's show, i guess he might just stay

    Should i
    A) Eriksen to siggy
    B) Bellerin to clyne and play clyne instead of pieters/amat
    C) Save FT

      If I was confident on Rooney starting I'd give him a shot. Two Liv mids has definite potential. I'd take Siggy over Eriksen but then next week I like Eriksen much better than Siggy. I really like the idea of watching Austin vs Lukaku in the late Sunday game, gives a fun way to end the gameweek.

      Mane and Coutinho more or less have the same potential. Austin could very well score but I think Rondon has more of a chance of double digits. Grab a hot chocolate, put your feet up and enjoy the games.

    January transfer targets - who/what does each club need? My transfer ballroller - Spurs need a creator for Kane... possibly Siggy from relegation-doomed Swansea?
    Any other suggestions?

    Morning.

    question:
    Many of us have at least two Pool mids from Coutinho, Mane, Firmino. Captain poll indicates that most are capping Coutinho. Would it not be a good time to take a calculated "risk" and captain Firmino or even Mane instead? Pretty likely to score similarly, but less ownership for the two. And stats indicate that it's even likely that Firmino will score the most points of them this week. Hence a little chance to climb the OR.
    Good idea or jog on?

      I'd captain Mane out of the 3.

            Right. Fine reasoning then. Not an option for me though since I don't have him.

        I've had it on Cout the whole week but just got to thinking Bobby might just be worth it this week...

          From UFPL days (RIP) I remember the explosiveness of Firmino, but getting the time right with explosions is the tricky part. This week might be the week.

      Home form favours Mane !! Many of the Mane owners here are considering to captain him...

    Sat here for a while thinking of ways to improve my team, but have come up blank. Allen may need to be looked at, but cant see many better options for the price. How would you improve this lot?

    0.2ITB

    Foster - (Jaku)

    Lovren - Holebas - McAuley - (Amat, Love)

    Sanchez - Hazard - Firmino - Coutinho - (Allen)

    Costa - Aguero - Anichebe

    Foster, Pickford
    Walker, Holebas, Francis, Pieters, Amat
    Sanchez, Hazard, Firmino, Redmond, Capoue
    Kun, Lukaku, Austin

    0.6 itb, 2 FT

    Planning to do kun, Redmond -> Costa, Coutinho next week, but that leaves me with I free transfer to burn this week. Would love any suggestions.

    My plan to get Kane was:
    gw13=save ft
    gw14=Fuchs & Lukaku out - Nyom & Kane in.

    However this week imo Nyom has a much better cs prospect than Fuchs. I'm thinking of selling Fuchs this week. Then next week I can just do Lukaku to Kane for free. Also Nyom gives me a 0.3 cushion for any Kane rises so I don't have to rush the Kane trade. Sound good. Thanks.

      I like it, APART from when Chadli gets back, he might take Brunts spot, and then Brunt could shift Nyom out. This is just speculations from my side, but should be noted. At least for longterm, I suppose you have good backups?

        Yeah that is a risk as you say. My back 5 will be pretty light:
        Alonso, Holebas, Pieters, Nyom, Amat.

        Getting Kane to go with Aguero & Costa so it's takes up a bit of money. Also Nyom will mean a double up with Foster.

        Cheers.

    A) Sterling -> Siggy (before sterl drop)
    B) Luk -> Giroud
    C) both for -4

    Doing B would deny the oppurtunity to do Luk -> Kane next gw

      (C) your gonna want giroud this week IMO can always ship giroud for kane the following week then if Kane is a must have however I think the kane train will halt fairly soon....
