The ScoutCast – Episode 207 – Regrets

Regrets come hand-in-hand with Fantasy Football – if you get through the season without one, you’re either extremely fortunate or you just don’t care enough. Either way, you’re unlikely to be reading this.

Most of us of come to terms with them, have learnt to ride them out and plough on regardless but, even I’ve got to admit, Alexis Sanchez’ Gameweek 14 stung a bit.

Thankfully, with Sergio Aguero harbouring his own regrets, my path to sheepishly welcome Sanchez back into the fold is signposted rather clearly.

The Sanchez wounds and the Aguero fall-out dominate this week’s ScoutCast, which also marks a debut for moderator and long-time community member AZ. He steps in with Granville tangled in political red tape to join Jonty, Andy and myself for a lengthy and lively episode.

We gripe about the volatile market, quiver in fear at the idea of the “Titan teams” and, of course, preview the weekend with a scattering of statistics, speculation and pure guesswork.

This episode of the ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Wednesday night. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

If you’re a traditional type, you can acquire the mp3 audio version via this link or the first player below, or take in the full visual experience via the second player below.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Competing with Mata, Martial, Rooney, Rashford and Lingard for a place in the team. Rotation seems likely, certainly over Christmas.

Why do people keep saying this? If you want an overpriced player who will give you few points, just take Pogba or Rooney now and be done with it.

Don't let the flag fool you, Mane is fine, been training this week.

Would I get on the Sanchez train right now at the expense of Mane? Probably not for a hit, not when Mane has West Ham at home and Sanchez' next 2 fixtures after Stoke aren't all that great. For free? Bit easier to justify.

You do need him at some point though if you can stomach a couple more Sanchez price increases it might be worth holding Mane for a few more games.

indeed, would be for a hit which is making me hesitate.

Also looks like I need to shift austin if he is injured so might have to prioritize that one.

Liverpool's fixtures stiffen up on a few gameweeks plus Mane is off to AFCON in January, that'd be when i'd be jumping ship.

Just make sure the sofa is a big one for Arsenal games!

    Pickford (Foster)
    Lovren Williams Amat (Kingsley) (Evans)
    Hazard Sanchez Siggy Capoue (Allen)
    Kane Costa Austin

    FT was Kun>Kane
    I'm thinking Austin>Defoe and Allen>Lallana for -8 and Williams>Alonso following week.
I could maybe hold off on 2nd transfer but it seems like a week for hits and might get priced out for Alonso.
    Any thoughts?

Same FT and the same 3 transfers that I want to make but maybe Ihenacho instead of Defoe just don't know which order to make them and which to do this week. Leaning towards leaving Williams>Alonso until next week also.

Thanks for the reply. I think I probably will do the -8 and get Alonso next week. My 8 point hit last week to get San(c)hez in certainly paid off and it is less of a gamble this week seeing as a lot of ppl are hitting.

Not really, if you've got H2H mini leagues to play in. If you thought this way you'd probably make a -20 every week as you could justify a -4 to get the highest scoring players in each week...

you're not but you picked them for a reason to be in your squad, and it can be in a week when you wouldn't start them that they return you points.

As ever, most would agree that a hit should only be taken if it addresses a concern and looks sound for 5+ weeks to give it a chance to pay for itself.

Amat top scoring defender this week, rare CS plus a jammy headed goal and maximum bonus, 15 pointer, you heard it here first.*

*He could also not start and/or score a brace of own goals in a 6-0 thumping... everything is possible in that one.

I'll be buying a ticket to the Amat lottery! Should be a giggle.
