The ScoutCast – Episode 207 – Regrets

Regrets come hand-in-hand with Fantasy Football – if you get through the season without one, you’re either extremely fortunate or you just don’t care enough. Either way, you’re unlikely to be reading this.

Most of us of come to terms with them, have learnt to ride them out and plough on regardless but, even I’ve got to admit, Alexis Sanchez’ Gameweek 14 stung a bit.

Thankfully, with Sergio Aguero harbouring his own regrets, my path to sheepishly welcome Sanchez back into the fold is signposted rather clearly.

The Sanchez wounds and the Aguero fall-out dominate this week’s ScoutCast, which also marks a debut for moderator and long-time community member AZ. He steps in with Granville tangled in political red tape to join Jonty, Andy and myself for a lengthy and lively episode.

We gripe about the volatile market, quiver in fear at the idea of the “Titan teams” and, of course, preview the weekend with a scattering of statistics, speculation and pure guesswork.

This episode of the ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Wednesday night. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

If you’re a traditional type, you can acquire the mp3 audio version via this link or the first player below, or take in the full visual experience via the second player below.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

United fans, what do we think Mourinho's nailed on defence is? I see significant clean sheet potential combining fixtures, a performing Phil Jones and the return of Eric Bailly. Is Phil Jones nailed though?

che: Blind Bailly* Smalling Valencia *(got injured Rojo came on)
BUR: Shaw Blind Rojo Darmian* (*Smalling Jones Valencia and Bailly all injured)
    EL: Shaw Blind Rojo Darmian
    SWA: Darmian Rojo Jones Young
    ARS: Darmian Rojo Jones Valencia
    EL: Shaw Blind Jones Valencia
    WHU: Darmian Rojo Jones Valencia
    EVE: Darmian Rojo Jones Valencia
    EL: Blind Rojo Bailly Young

See the Darmian Rojo Jones Valencia is the starting defense in the last three league games. Jones was an unused sub in the EL, probably a good rest before three games in a short space of time. My prediction is that Bailly comes in for Rojo who returns to the bench and Jones keeps his place leaving a defence of Darmian Bailly Jones Valencia as first choice. Rojo only came into the team due to injuries and there was talk early on about him leaving the club.

Physio room has Smalling back on December 17th and I don't think considering Jose's criticism he is guaranteed to walk back into the team. Jones and Bailly could become the preferred partnership at center back. Thoughts?

Tempted to try out Jones ....especially at 4.7.... But if he loses his spot it will a waste of a transfer considering the number of higher priority transfers i have(For instance getting in Haz)

I had Jones on a WC, but Ben Dinney said Smalling isn't too far away. That will be a full house of centre halves. If only Mourinho would reveal how long Smalling was out for.

I don't think he is nailed as we saw last night, but worth it for the price

    oh the dilemma...

    De Gea
    Kingsley Walker Daniels
    Siggy Hazard Sanchez Manė
    Defoe Costa Austin

    (Jakupovic McAuley De Roon Lenihan)

Already took a -4 this week. So now that Austin is down, should I:

A: Play De Roon and stan at -4
    or
B: Take -8 and transfer Austin for Nacho?

            Anichebe
People are overlooking him and considering him just because of his pric tag.
Had he been around 6, he would've been on everyone's radar.
Matches Defoe in terms of stats plus Sunderland have been attacking over the past few weeks plus has good alternate fixtures so you could rotate him with a Can or someone as your 5th mid.
Believe me, he's gotta brace against Swansea and pure Captaincy material as well
It's only Pens and Injury issues that makes Defoe a better option than him

Can you really trust Pep not to rotate? Gündogan owners will know exactly what this looks like, two strong performance's then disappears.

Ihenacho seems obvious but Pep don't do obvious.

The thing is you do not know which players you might have to ship out or bring in after the next 4 games. Focus on the current situation. If you think that Nacho is going to score big for 4 weeks, then go get those points.

I got in Ihenacho as well. But the difference between Ihenacho and Kun is loads. Kun was scoring loads before tbf, he was pretty poor against Chelsea and got some lucky goals. But Ihenacho isn't totally proven so far.

Kun is actually being poor this season with his finishing. Don't think he has lost it. Also, the supply has been poor. Except KDB, the supplies aren't coming at all. Silva, no Wingback support, new formation everything is affecting city right now.

    Austin to Kane or Zlatan?

Who do people think will score more over next 4 weeks?

I can't really afford to swap them about now as already on a minus 4 and defence HAS to be sorted next week.

    1. Grand Thibauto
      • 9 Years

Kane should be the way to go. Looks on form. Scored on UCL too albeit Ibra did as well. But with those sweet HUL(H) BUR(H) coming up you might do Ibra to Kane once you see the Captaincy Polls massively inclined towards Kane.

I know. Problem is I just don't think spurs will score at old Trafford. I really don't. United have Bailey back, they can't keep conceding late goals and haven't conceded more than one in a match in months. Zlatan is also back on form and that spurs defence doesn't convince me.

        1. Grand Thibauto
          • 9 Years

United isn't keeping Clean Sheets and doubt they would stop Spurs who are finally in their attacking form. Although, Spurs has a mean defense even without Alder to keep Ibra out. Its the GW16 17 fixtures honestly to get Kane. And this week would be a bonus.

Team for GW15 which I had... until Austin got injured last night. I had traded him in along with sanchez and took a -4 hit.
    Pickford
    Alonso McAuley Amat
    Sanchez Hazard Walcott Siggy
    Costa Kane Austin

    Foster Pieters Fletcher Love

    Do I...
    a) trade out austin for origi for another -4
    b) trade out austin for iheanacho for another -4
    c) just play fletcher from bench

    Midfield: hazard ozil firmino mane
    Strikers: costa benteke iheanacho

I'm down to mane vs benteke as my captain choice. Any suggestions? If anyone else is a better option, please do tell

      I'd rank them:

      Mane
      Hazard
      Costa
      Firmino
      Benteke
      Iheanacho
      Ozil

Mane and Haz are close to call this week IMO

inclined towards mane for this week, after a porous defense by west ham

Any love for Andy Carroll as an Austin replacement? Liverpool up next (set piece chances for W Ham there) and then a run of very nice fixtures over Christmas? 6.1 million means I bank a few quid to upgrade Amat & Kingsley in due course. If he is fit (big if i know) then Bilic can't not play him.

      Two problems

      A) West Ham form....woeful against Arsenal, Bilic criticizing players for not training properly...? Somethings wrong there.
      B) Carroll has a major donkey mode

They were truly awful against Arsenal. That could be the bottom for them. A fully fit Carroll and Ayew might just be the boost they needed. Can anyone else talk me out of this?

It remains to be seen how Billic will set WHU up with their injury crisis subsiding.

Are we thinking that Mkhitaryan may become a genuine option soon?

Too many better options in the same bracket, plus United are too inconsistent.

      I'd wait and see.

To take a hit, or not take a hit?

    A. Play Fletcher v Chelsea (a), or
    B. Austin to Nacho (v Leicester (a)) or Defoe (v Swansea (a))?

-12 last week, -12 this week if I get rid of Austin.

-24 in two GWs??? Ugh, I feel sick.
